We have been trying since May 2004 with no joy 2 early mcs.and a bit of a break for me,we have charted, temped, and used persona for 2 mths after that i had to give myself a break after a lot of tears and feelings of emptiness i at last feel ready to try again,so any tips old wives or otherwise will be very gratefully accepted.I have just booked my first appointment to try reflexology. We have both had all the fertility tests and both of us are fine so onwards and upwards for us again.Until our beanie baby makes a long awaited appearance and i at last see the 2 blue lines that dont disappear after a week or so.

The 14 day thing has worked for me so may be worth trying otherwise bd every other day for a whole cycle this also worked

Lauraa83 · 13/03/2006 20:21

Hello

What worked for me was lying with my legs up the wall(bum tilted up) for 45mins to an hour after each bd! I was off the pill for 4 years and nothing happened then tried this and now got ds!

Also spells do work!!! Have done 'good' spells (not for TTC) for other things and if you believe in them they do come true and also I really believe in visualisation. Every night when you are going to sleep imagine having and holding your baby down to every little detail (pregnancy, birth etc...) and the more you do it the closer it brings you to it!

That makes me sound a bit loopy Blush but I think it's true:)

Good luck:o

theres an e book you can purchase on www.become-pregnant.com from a mum that sounds alot like you.Its called miracles do happen. Its sounds interesting and maybe woth a look!

jabberwocky · 14/03/2006 02:54

True, Lauraa 8, I did a fertility spell before ttc ds and we got pregnant the second month. I definitely think it made a difference.

Guess what I've got planned for tomorrow night Grin

jabberwocky · 14/03/2006 02:55

or, with the time change it would be tonight if I were in the UK...

kryso · 15/03/2006 16:57

hiya even time you finish having sex put your legs put in the air, that helps the sperm get were it needs to go, so i was told

kryso · 15/03/2006 16:57

everytime soz

shimmy21 · 15/03/2006 17:05

insist on an orgasm every time.

I remember an amazing internal TV shot of an orgasm. The cervix actually kind of dipped down into the puddle of sperm with the orgasmic contractions.

And even if it doesn't make any difference it makes trying more fun Wink

Lauraa83 · 15/03/2006 22:04

Yeah Shimmy!!! I've read that somewhere apparently the cervix sort of vacuums it up in an orgasm too! Shock:o

CaptainCavemansMummy · 15/03/2006 22:29

Definately agree with bum in the air/pillow underneath AND booking a holiday at the same time (althouh don't try to book holiday immediately post-coital with legs in the air Shock )
Trying for 20 months, all fertility/gynae tests normal from hospital. Booked a holiday and then did the legs in the air trick - bingo! Ds now 22 mo.

posyparker · 16/03/2006 09:34

Re the orgasm tip, does that mean that you have to have yours after he has his?? What if your DP is a "gentleman" like mine and always takes care of you first?? Wink Blush Grin

MeerkatsUnite · 16/03/2006 09:56

Enough sperm will get to the cervix from where they will not escape so lying down with legs up in the air etc is not necessary!!!!!!!.

That's another fertility myth thats been banded about.

lucy5 · 16/03/2006 09:59

My friend swears that yoga and meditation helped her. she was told that she would never have children and it took her 6 months and she now has a 5 year old. Ive just started to ttc again but not looking forward to negative tests. My thoughts are with you. Smile

fresco · 16/03/2006 12:52

hello there

sorry to just butt in. i saw that expatinscotland is on this thread (used to be on another ttc one when i was ttc for my dd2)hi there!! was looking for munzieb but cant find her.
i would be so happy to join you ladies.
yes, crazy me, now for ttc for #3.when dd2 is only 3 months, cant help it though.already longing for another one

riley3 · 16/03/2006 14:17

Going back to the orgasm tip (!) (which does make perfect sense), if you are one of the unlucky few of us who doesn't usually orgasm during intercourse it will be just as effective to.... Blush DIY immediately afterwards. A good excuse IMO! Lots of men get quite turned on by this in any event so you may then be in for round 2......

fresco · 16/03/2006 14:20

question for you ladies: can you chart the basal temp if you dont get af yet? i dont know where i am with periods because i havent had one since my c-section 3 months ago.but i only stop b/feeding completely that is about 5 weeks ago.i b/fed for the first 8 weeks and then stoped at night first and then altogether.

expatinscotland · 16/03/2006 14:26

whoa, fresco! good on you.

this is it for us. i've been shifting the baby stuff as dd2 outgrows it.

best of luck to you for baby no. 3!

KenningtonKitty · 16/03/2006 15:31

Debbsy - I had 2 m/c (1 early/1 missed) before getting pregnant with my DD (now nearly 4) so totally feel for you. I also have a DS (7 months) and can recommend the legs up the wall after dtd - (this may have nade a difference as I have a tilted uterus ?) - Did this with both babies and did the trick.

I was also prescribed oral progesterone for the first 16 weeks - as low progesterone can lead to m/c but it's not something they can test for until you are pregnant - Some drs won't prescribe as they don't believe in benefits so I had to get it privately - but after 2 lots of progesterone - 2 healthy pregnancies - so I believe in it !

Good luck and the best advice (although difficult I know) is to try and relax and it will happen

elly12001 · 16/03/2006 20:24

Ok here are my top tips on becoming pregnant - I have endometriosis and have 2 children.

  1. Agnus Castus, I'ts a herbal medication from your local health food shop, used to increase fertility.
I swore by it and became pregnant very quickly with both my children. My friend has polycystic ovary syndrome and after taking agnus castus for a few months has become pregnant.
  1. Count 14 days from the start of your period (if you have a regular 28 day cycle) start having sex on day 12 following your cycle up until day 16 of your cycle.
Day 14 you will be the most fertile but by having sex on day 12 you are giving the sperms a chance to get up there! Don't have sex more than a couple of times a day.
  1. Relax! I know I'ts an old clich'e but stress never got anyone pregnant!
4 Remember it takes the average couple 2 years of trying before they conceive! But if you have been trying for this amount of time and are not preggas I would deffo see your G.P. Good luck!
elly12001 · 16/03/2006 20:55

Can I quickly add that as SOON as you find out that you are pregnant stop taking Agnus Castus.
If you are interested in taking the herbal remedy have a chat with a health food specialist!

peachygirl · 16/03/2006 21:04

I think it has been posted on other threads that agnus catsus should be taken up to ovulation and as it is quite powerful it should be with the advice of a herbalist.

angm1 · 16/03/2006 22:06

"Try" 14 days from the start of your period. Good Luck

Debbsy · 18/03/2006 09:11

Blimey elly12001 - don't have sex more than a couple of times a day! - LOL!!!!
After several years of trying there's no chance!!!

Meerkats - a bit grim to ask but you seem to know..you said about enough sperm getting to the cervix without the need of legs up/cushions etc. but most people are commenting on the sperm dripping out.....I seem to have a flood each time! Does that sound normal to you?!
Sorry to ask but it's one of those questions that I would NEVER ask anyone normally Blush

MeerkatsUnite · 18/03/2006 21:59

bilbo1,

Sperm can leak out after intercourse; that is normal. What you describe is normal as well.
