Sasha and Frosticle So good to hear your news! So exciting for you both!

Golden Q10 is another vitamin which is good for your DH's swimmers and get him eating brazil nuts if you can.

Mo I am still thinking of you. Counselling sounds a very good idea and take your time to grieve. The right decision for you and your DH will come.

Caipirinhas I'm routing for you for good news on this cycle. Mine was nearly cancelled mid-cycle so I really empathise. When do you think you will hear?

Waves to everyone else, must get on with some work!

Hoop, my fella has only recently started smoking again after starting a new, very stressful job. I haven't yet seen him having a puff so I know he goes all evening without one. He will be smoking five-a-day tops. I'm pissed off that he doesn't see his 3% morphology as an issue (or one which could be remedied by smoking cessation) and I feel particularly piqued because I managed to quit when I was pregnant in January and have managed to stay off them (and gain a stone in weight) since the miscarriage in March. He has become vigilant with regards vitamins; he takes a multivitamin and a zinc every day and has changed his underwear to a looser version! Blush

I am a little reluctant to rob him of cigarettes: his Favourite Thing In Life. We both got out of rehab eighteen months ago and live a very restrained life (we don't go anywhere, do anything or see anyone) and I can't help feeling it's churlish of me to demand he give this extra thing up. On the other hand, whenever I get my BFN I feel like his reluctance to give up is the the most gargantuan lack of commitment Sad

Congratulations on your scan Sasha Smile

Badger and Vallinapod, I missed your posts because I didn't realise there was an extra page. Thanks for the advice - I will get some Q10. Brazil nuts are so expensive! This is why I make him take the zinc, I think that's what's found in brazil nuts?

Thinking of Mo..

thanks Badger
still waiting to hear. They told me on Tuesday that I might find out that afternoon or yesterday but they called yesterday to say today so I guess at the moment I have to assume I'm going in for a cyst aspiration tomorrow

golden- yes zinc is what he needs!! It is great he is doing all the other supplements, that at least is helpful for morphology. Hear what you say about smoking - it is good he is limiting the amount at least.

Quick post from a very busy me - Mo honey. You are being so blooming brave. Do be kind to yourself. And don't put any pressure in yourselves about a decision for the future just now. Now the focus is now. You can think about the future when youve had time to come up for air.

Frosticle and Sasha congrats to you

Will try and catch up properly over weekend

Off to me tmw!

I have my scan tomorrow, was worrying due to lack of symptoms but I've felt increasingly sick for the last 3 days! So fingers crossed I get to see a little heart beat! Also had a bit of a strop at work today however I think I was justified as I have already worked 40 hours this week and there are still 2 more days to go! :-(
Anyway hope everyone is well, I'm off to bed now x

beginning good luck with the scan today. Definitely give work a good kicking.

frosticle that is great news. So pleased for you.

weller I've had breathlessness ever since about five/six weeks. Apparently it is because of the extra blood in my body, but stairs absolutely finish me off. Hope you got some answers from dr.

twinkle I'm an ARGC lady so send me a pm if you have any questions. It is totally different to anywhere else but they do get results.

pocket hope mw goes well.

Mo you have been so together for so long now. Do make sure you get you 'you' time.

AFM, had our 10w2d scan yesterday and the harmony test - apparently this is a new blood test that they only do at the fetal medicine centre on Harley street. It has 98/99% accuracy detecting the three trisomies and combined with nuchal measurements should mean avoids unnecessary invasive testing. I got the test and scan free as booked nuchal scan with them and at the moment they are running some kind of promotion as so new. Bub refused to shift position for scan so was difficult to see, but did manage to see hands and feet wiggling around.

Happy Friday all

Beginning - good luck for today. With DS I didn't have one pregnancy symptom, and no bump until around 6.5 months. Genuinely thought it was all in my head ;)

Glad you had a good scan Mini

Good luck beginnings! You will be glad of the lack of symptoms later on - I have had nearly none up to now at 33 weeks, apart from waking up at 5am every day. I know what vallinnapod means about thinking it's all in your head!

Good to hear about your scan Mini. Are we still calling her/him mini-Mini? Grin

DSB ladies and happy weekend!

Just back from my scan bubba is perfect size for dates and saw little heartbeat! :-) that's the last contact with my clinic now, need to get GP to do midwife referral now, nurse did tell me not to let anyone convince me that my dates are wrong as NHS are not very good a dating IVF babies! I am 8 weeks and 1 day :-) happy happy happy!
Off for Christmas lunch with work now, last year I rolled in v drunk at gone midnight (started at lunch time) guessing I will be home a bit earlier this year :-)

BadgerFace · 30/11/2012 13:39

Ahhhh, beginning that's lovely!

The NHS might not even try to redate - they just accepted my estimated due date when I said it was based on IVF dates. Even though all of their scans have suggested I am further along than that. Nope, she's just gonna be a big un!

vallinnapod · 30/11/2012 17:18

goldengirl yay on your progesterone!

Am off for a girlie weekend in Scotland. Really looking forward to it but still a teeny bit nervous about flying. All the advice seems to state it is fine, and clinic were o.k. with it so am being a bit daft really. Hopefully the fun weekend will more than make up for the teeny bit of nerves getting there/back.

Good news beginning and goldengirl

Our IVF has been stopped. Yesterday I went and had a cyst aspiration to drain 8 cysts which had developed during down regging. Luckily our NHS came good and our funding has been extended for 3 months so at least we get to try again in the new year

Hope everyone's having a good weekend

Report
BadgerFace · 03/12/2012 09:03

Oh Caipirinhas so sorry to hear that your cycle's been cancelled, although at least the NHS came good on the funding. How frustrating for you. But if it will give you a better chance on a new cycle then it must all be for the greater good.

I hope that you're okay. And at least you can look forward to a few festive glasses of bubbly. Not much of a silver lining I know but I hope you take the time off between cycles to relax.

Report
MoJangled · 03/12/2012 11:03

A quick hello from me. Caipirinhas so sorry about your cycle - you must be so disappointed. Thank goodness you can go again in the NY (and this way you get to hit the mulled wine at Xmas - that's what I'm focussing on anyway Grin )

Goldengirl DS was the result of our 4th cycle (first with DE) so I'm afraid I can't offer hope for natural pregnancies over 40 - but there are lots of people who've done it and your fantastic FSH numbers should give you all the hope you need. I wouldnt automatically be thinking about donor eggs (altho maybe donor sperm if your DH wants to hang onto his ciggies Wink ) with your numbers. A course of vibromycin for 30 days could be brilliant for your DH - it addresses any previous infections (not scary STD type ones just bugs and colds that can affect the factories) and raised my DH's count and morphology from ICSI-standard to normal IVF standard. Sounds like you've both come on an incredible journey.

Congratulations on your scans Mini and Beginnings - how lovely.

I'm still off work (although starting to feel rather guilty about it), and DH and I are living in a little bubble with DS. Having been terribly upset last week I'm finding that I'm quite unemotional now. Still very tired and headachy and finding it hard to concentrate, and despite having made big lists of next steps (talk to doctors about whether this really means i can't sustain a pregnancy; see bereavement counsellor; contact adoption services for initial meeting) I can't seem to get off my arse to actually do any of them. hey ho - I'll have to rejoin the real world at some point!

Mo, thank you for your brilliant advice and encouragement. I hope you continue to find strength and peace - and lots of answers.

Caipirinhas, I am sorry your cycle has been cancelled, how disappointed you must feel. Good news about the extension, though.

It's 12DPO for me and, despite beautifully lofty temperatures, I got a BFN this morning. I am sick to the back teeth.

sunnyg · 03/12/2012 12:47

goldengirl so sorry to hear about your BFN. But don't give up! When you feel ready, we are all here to support you.

mini and beginnings wonderful news about your scans. mini how was break to scotland? Loved the scottish smileys. I hope your nerves about flying weren't too bad.

caprihanas also very sorry to hear about your cycle being cancelled. You must be really dissapointed after getting this far. But I'm glad to hear you will have a new go in the new year. I'm all about the NY, new beginnings and all that. Looking forward not back is what I say.

mo I think you are amazing, and honestly if you and DH I think should feel free to stay in your bubble with DS for as long as you want/need. You've had a horrible, horrible time and this can't be underestimated. Although good to hear you are making some of those little 'options' lists. Sounds like you are starting to get ready to make some enquires.

Hope everyone had a good weekend oxo

Can I ask what people's opinions are regarding the impact of caffeine on fertility? I don't drink coffee but do quaff alot of energy drinks before a workout and I'm a chocolate fiend.

Got an appointment in January to see the consultant re IUI.

Report
Beginningofthejourney · 03/12/2012 19:18

Hi golden girl, personally I tried to cut out as much caffeine as possible, (I had IVF and currently just over 8 weeks!) I switched to decaf tea and tried to cut out chocolate (didn't do very well with that one) I don't drink coffee so not such a big deal for me also stopped drinking coke for several months prior to starting IVF and still trying to keep it to a minimum now. However chocolate is relatively low in caffeine :-) I knew that I could only afford one go at IVF so wanted to do everything I could so if it didn't work I wouldn't have any regrets or any if only I had/hadn't moments hope that makes sense? X
