Sunshine - that's a good way to look at things 'the longer you try the more likely it is to happen'. That's good positives mental attitude!

JoyfulJoyful · 07/06/2012 21:11

Queen, the thought did cross my mind but the cramps I feel are definitely 'AF is here' cramps though I had this with my MC but it wasn't this strong.

Kicking, I have to say that I am almost convinced too that stress has played a huge part. In the past 2 months, I have been teary, sleeping less and my BP has gone up to the point that I am now on medication for it. My DH is more concerned that.

Dreamy, i am as regular as clock work. I ovulate exactly 7 days from the last day of AF without fail and I know this because my body tells me painfully, which I am grateful for.
This is all new to me. Anyway, I think I will be adopting your method but I have decided to put TTC on hold for about 3 months now. I am concerned as I have never spotted since i hit puberty.

Winkle & Queen, FWIW, I didn't have a clue I was pregnant when I was as i had AF cramps and it wasnt until I tested at the GP's because I had gone to her crying thinking I had reached menopause due to lack of AF that I knew I was pregnant. I look back now and think how foolishly naive and quite embarrased I was. So no symptom is not a bad thing.

redstrawberry · 07/06/2012 21:44

kicking winklequeen hang in there - A wise guru once told me it's not over till AF shows..Smile

Fx for you three... And don't want to see your mugs on July thread x

KickingUpQuestions · 07/06/2012 22:35

I take that back. If you don't get a positive on the day AF is due you, you have a 2% chance of it turning positive Grin

Leftwingharpie · 07/06/2012 22:45

Kicking is that the likelihood of someone testing positive after the last day of their normal cycle, or is it the likelihood of someone whose period is already overdue eventually testing positive?

KickingUpQuestions · 07/06/2012 22:55

The statistic is that 98%of women test positive on or before AF is due

That means the likelihood of testing positive decreases to 2% of women who test when they are a day late or more.

Which means that for a large majority, no AF and no BFP has more chance of being delayed OV than being a delayed positive pg test

winkle2 · 07/06/2012 23:01

I don't wanna be on the July thread either :(

KFFOREVER · 07/06/2012 23:03

Congrats Dreamy on your BFP. My AF has finished now and im already putting my plan in action. lol. If I have a 28 day cycle I should be due my BFP AF on 30th June. One cycle was 25 days and the other 27 days since I have stopped the pill. I am very grateful my periods have sort of come back to normal. Mid May I had bad abdominal pains on my right side and affecting my back too. Worst day was the 20th May which was CD14 but eased off after a couple of days. Im now thinking that may have been OV pain. Never noticed this before.

Sorry to those who got your AF's just think of it as a time for you and DP to restore energy for DTD.

Leftwingharpie · 07/06/2012 23:21

So if you've come to the end of your cycle with no sign of AF you are statistically more likely to be in that 2%?

LittleMissSnowShine · 07/06/2012 23:24

No mention of the July thread unless we have to go there winkle!!

kicking - yep 2% chance is the way to look at it! of course one might have just used a cheapy crap test that didn't work properly ((goes back to secretly hoarding her poundland hpts, yes my pretties hee)) and wouldn't give u a BFP even if u were 40 weeks preg and ready to deliver right then and there!

NicolaHazel · 08/06/2012 07:15

I think we should vow to not mention July's thread :-) Because we won't need it (maintains positive mental attitude).

Another 30th June tester, KFFOREVER?

Christelle2207 · 08/06/2012 07:44

Sadly i expect il'll be on the July thread even if on my own. AF due today and not arrived yet but feeling distinctly crampy...At least we have a minibreak booked for the end of next week so AF should be out of the way again for us to start SWI (again)

KickingUpQuestions · 08/06/2012 09:00

Leftwing - it means that of everyone (indeterminate amount) of women, 98% of those who were pregnant tested positive on the day af was due.

The 2% is a tiny number of those women who tested positive after AF

what that means is that if you don't test positive on the day AF is due, you have a 2% chance of being pregnant.

So if you are 3 das late with AF and you are still getting BFNs, you have a very tiny chance of being pg and you probably OVed late. 99% chance of you not being pregnant

SunshineOutdoors · 08/06/2012 09:25

For those of you due bfp/af on 30th June, when do you think you are most fertile? I'm due that day too and just curious... I will take all of your dates and make sure I dtd then!

RIBS · 08/06/2012 10:09

One of my friends, thought she was up the duff, she's regular as clockwork. Tested day after AF due, bfn, tested every other and sometime every day. It tool a week to get her BFP, it cost her a fortune too, boots, superdrug FR & CB tests. She just KNEW she was pg. Sometimes the HG levels just take a while to get going I think, but she must have ov'd a bit later than usual. I dont think anythings the norm.

sunshine In theory, 14 days before AF due , but I would DTD a week before and after. I like to be sure. I think my biggest mistake has been stopping too early. Ive seen a + opk and DTD a day or 2 after and I dont think I caught it.

Still dtd and winkling even tho im well past ov. Think im cd 23? and last months drug induced cycle was 32 days. Ive not really been arsed about where I am in the cycle, but seeing the BFPs and knowing it'l be the green or red (boooo) light by next Sunday is making my tiny little brain start to get anxious.

Sorry about everyone who's been caught by AF.

You testing 2mor then winkle??

KickTheGuru · 08/06/2012 10:14

No denying it ribs. It does happen. I have a friend that had the same

However, it's still the exception, not the norm.

How many people do you know who had the same thing but landed up being bitten by AF? I have had it about 4 times in the past year. Take that number of people and add it to the number of people who have had a positive pg test on or before AF? Then add your list to mine. Then lets add the two people we know who've tested late. Statistically, between you and I alone - the chances of someone falling pregnant a week after AF is due would be under a percent

The chances are slim that that would happen. The idea that everyone will test positive after a week is why so many women are now flapping when they're late.

I would personally rather know beforehand that the likelihood of it being a late positive is a hell of a lot less than the likelihood of it being a late OV.

KickTheGuru · 08/06/2012 10:14

Sorry not falling pregnant - testing positive after AF

RIBS · 08/06/2012 10:39

I know. We were both TTC at the same time, both on the same cycle, I was testing 14 dpo getting bfn's same as her, AF got me 18 dpo, she got BFP 21 dpo.

I was thrilled for her but very Envy too. She'd only been trying a couple of months. Im well into 2nd year.

KickTheGuru · 08/06/2012 10:47

Yeh - I don't get how some people just fall pregnant out of luck

Do you know that something stupid like 36% of couples can't have kids....just because? There are no reasons why - they can't find any issues with couples but 36% battle just for unknown reasons...

BET they follow they "I'm ovulating" theory ;) (kidding)

I know we probably wasted the last 8 - 9 months buy only DTD when I was ovulating. And we spent the three months before that trying to get a smiley face. Never happened

Pinkie29 · 08/06/2012 11:06

kicktheguru yay Grin

I am also baffled by the 'accidental' pregnancies!

OP posts:
Panzee · 08/06/2012 11:26

I missed the first part of this thread - what's winkling? Will I regret asking? :o

redstrawberry · 08/06/2012 11:48

Yay! kicktheguru I am not sure how they manage to "accidentally" get preggo either? How does that work!

Sunshine I am on a 30 day cycle, and been tracking for a year, but OV at diff times every cycle. I have decided not to rely on OV and dtd as often as possible upto AF due.

I used to be one of those naive people who thought it will be easy to fall pregnant, regular cycles, lots of EWCM and all.. but in reality our bodies are so complicated you just dont know whats going on inside them (unless you have James Bond spy glasses) So just going for sex, sex and more sex!!!

NicolaHazel · 08/06/2012 12:34

Sunshine, I'm on my first cycle post-pill, so no idea how long it will be. But I've decided that if no ERTD by 30th, it would be as good a time as any to test!

KFFOREVER · 08/06/2012 13:18

Nicola- I will probably test in July. I dont exactly know when my cycle ends so far it has ranged between 25- 28 days. I am too scared to do a test and it be a BFN. I get down when it is a BFN. :( I will see how I feel towards the end of June. If im suspiciuos I will test but prefer to wait a few days.

Sunshine- I havent a clue about ovulation. I will see if I get the abdominal pain again like I did last month. I think time of ovulation changes so basically it will be a lot of DTD.

QueenOfTheDrama · 08/06/2012 13:22

kicktheguru - love it!!

pinkie how many days before af due did you get your bfp? I'm 5 days pre af at moment and finding it hard not to test even though I know it would be bfn at this stage either way! Smile
