1 I'd like to know how you found it

2 Loving the 'how to use' pics

3 Wondering how many people really worry that their spittoon doesn't 'blend well with' their dress

4 Worrying that I would never know how to 'fashionably carry' a spittoon, upduffed or not

MiaAlexandrasmummy · 01/05/2012 13:47

elena the mind boggles... who would have thought to invent such a thing??!

lol wow, can completely see why you feel you have been knocked sideways... but there will always be associations with any name you choose, good, bad or indifferent. I don't think the ex-wife's opinion really should matter to you and your DH - she doesn't 'own' a name, nor does anybody else, especially not a baby she didn't even have. This baby is definitely YOURS, and the name you choose for him will become his, and suit him perfectly.

clicking it's probably not your imagination...

Bit of good news here. Had our private scan today, and saw everything we needed to see... sac, baby, and heartbeat, all right on target size for 8+1. And when the kindly sonographer turned on the sound so we could hear the little heart pounding away, I burst into tears. I had been so scared. Now, at least for today, I can stop worrying...

twirlyagogo · 01/05/2012 13:49

So pleased for you MiaAlexandrasMummy, so pleased x

10000fireflies · 01/05/2012 13:52

Oh lol that is shitty. Why didn't DP tell you, the numpty? Of course his ex is upset - only natural. What will you do? I wouldn't know either way if I was in the same situation, and certainly not the sort of stress you need at the mo. Maybe use mini-Lol's name as a middle name instead? I'm sure you'll resolve in the best possible way soon - you seem pretty cool generally.

Wow Elena that's frigging ace. What other sort of prego accessories are there? Is there a nice Gaviscon holster?

Hugs to all. FF xx

10000fireflies · 01/05/2012 13:55

Wow! More great news MiaAlexandrasMummy. Thanks Thanks Thanks

clickingtock · 01/05/2012 15:02

How wonderful MAM. Keep positive. xxx

knickyknocks · 01/05/2012 15:03

Hoping this post doesn't come up twice (apologies for my last couple of posts....my blackberry was playing up....)

lol of course you're upset about it. They don't think sometimes do they??? He'd definitelybeen better to say nothing at all on that occasion. I guess what's done is done and think fireflies suggestion is a fab one with the middle name thought.

elena love it! Looking forward to buying one soon and placing it just by my desk.......(still crossing fingers for that elusive BFP......)

MAM fab fab fab. For today you can breathe a sigh a relief and know that everything is as it should be. Your little one is growing and doing well. A relief must be an understatement on how you're feeling. It's just wonderful news.

clicking time for that spitoon with those green gills of yours?!

italian lovely news about the adoption. Agree it must be strange to being a newbie to a whole new world. But lovely all the same. There's an amazing wonderful child out there who needs a mum just like you.

As for me, work is still being ridiculously busy, though I was cheered up enormously this afternoon by a text from DH saying he's just dropped off his sperm at the local hospital for analysing......that's a text I don't see every day! Still fairly sure this isn't my month Sad, a few twinges down errr, there, but think that may be just the rub of the elastic on my M and S undies Grin

clickingtock · 01/05/2012 15:06

Knicky - good old DH; I'm sure that's a weight off your mind and a weight off something of his Wink. Keep positive - it really is impossible to tell when your month is coming - and get shopping for some glam bum-huggers no more of this MnS knicker-fodder. I hope work eases up for you; sounds tough. Keep us posted on shopping and spermies! xxx

TinaO99 · 01/05/2012 15:10

hello all - returned from my wonderful holiday in 70-80 degree sunshine to torrential rain on sunday and am now back at work with real post holiday blues :-(

hope everyone is well? Italian I saw your news and am so very sorry but really happy you're still so positive and looking into adoption, I'm sure any child would be blessed to be adopted by you!

on the ttc front nothing happened on holiday despite the fact I've felt the most stress free for a very long time. In fact my post holiday blues/coming back to horrid weather have been joined by pmt lol so all in all not very happy at the moment.

I have a review appoinment at care next week so will dicuss the reasons the IUI's failed and also having one go at IVF all being well,

lolfactor · 01/05/2012 20:17

Elena that's classic!!! Always wondered where to get one of those !????!!!

hippychick66 · 02/05/2012 07:13

Fab news on the scan miasmum - FTYAP hang in there, lovely lady. Xxxxxxxx

LOL - what a numpty your DP is not to sort this out sooner. For what its worth - I think you should go with the name, different if they had lost a baby they had decided to call that particular name but they didn't LOSE it they simply got a perfect girl instead. She can't really complain but I appreciate your dilemma and send you comforting Hippy hugs. ((()))

MaisieM · 02/05/2012 12:06

LOL - what a tricky situation. If you're anything like me, just the fact that this has been raised as an issue would probably always be in the back of my mind if we chose the name. I guess it depends too whether more is going to be made of it by your DH's ex than this initial comment?

Well, not my month, just got my period. Right, must get my OPKs lined up ready for next time.

10000fireflies · 02/05/2012 13:50

Maisie sorry to hear about the BFN. I hope you will treat yourself to a nice glass of Wine and some choc and rest up a bit. FF xx

clickingtock · 02/05/2012 15:29

Bad luck Maisie - keep going and wishing you a swift BFP this month. xxx

blackcatsdancing · 02/05/2012 15:53

Miasmum that's fantastic news. Really pleased for you. Hope you can relax for a bit now.

sorry its not your month maisie, good luck next time.

LOL, gosh not sure what i'd do. You must be pretty attached to the name now. Can you have a slight variant of it? or use as middle name? I think i'd probably stick with it .

lolfactor · 02/05/2012 19:16

Thanks everyone for your words of wisdom! Really helpful. Feeling better about it today. We're keeping the name. Sod the ex. If dp couldn't even remember, then it can't have been that significant. They knew from first scan that they were expecting a girl, so I'm going to be positive and see it as MY baby's name - not something written on the back of an envelope. Phew! That feels better.

MAM delighted with your scan news. How lovely to see and hear everything. You must be really reassured.

Hippy and Lou any news on BB? Have I missed it?

MaisieM · 02/05/2012 22:45

Thanks all. Wine drunk!

LOL - good call Smile

AngelGeorgie · 03/05/2012 06:19

Hi Lol not heard anything on BB? is she due now??? Hope you re ok?
Congrats Clickingxxx
Hi all... Xxxx

randomimposter · 03/05/2012 12:13

congrats clickingbean so pleased for you - hope all progresses smoothly and happily.

Mam, I can't remember if I've congratulated you out loud - I whooped when I read your news. Ditto above x

Lol glad you are sticking to your guns. Good for you.

waves to everyone.

Am 17+5, quite tired and anxiously awaiting some movements. Nowt as yet, but I didn't with DS til way past 20 weeks. Quite a bump though, but that might be fried egg sandwiches Blush.

clickingtock · 03/05/2012 12:19

Thanks jollster and Angel. Lots of pants-checking but otherwise reassured by irritability and general sense of changes afoot in the womble area, plus weird-feeling in my boobaloobs. Smile Will try some fried-egg sandwiches too Grin; obviously a must if you're diffed. Can't believe you are 17+5 already jollster - great stuff and not long til your next scan!

Lol - that's it, stick to your guns! I'm dying to know the actual name now! Grin

Italiangreyhound · 03/05/2012 13:16

Miaalexandersmummy WOW fab, great news.

Lol glad you have resolved it.

Twirly, Tina and co thanks for kind words.

Hugs to hippy and co.

Feeling OK personally but sad, some things going on, friend had her baby, not sure how I will feel about meeting up with new baby, met friend's mum and even she talks non-stop about birth etc (I mean my friend's birth not the baby's!!!), just adopted a galzed look until i could get away, feel like getting a T-shirt printed that says 'no, please do not tell me about your birth experiences!'. VERY sadly another friend lost a baby, and it is all very hard (for them). So wired time, and for me I am feeling physically tired - as lot on, even managed to miss end of Appentice as fell asleep!

Hugs to all.

Italiangreyhound · 03/05/2012 13:17

That should be glazed not galzed and weird not wired! And yes, you guys feel free to talk about YOUR birth experiences!

BeattieBow · 03/05/2012 15:39

I'm still here. 38+5 today. due a week on Saturday, but have no expectations of the baby coming then.

I finish work tomorrow!! and can't wait. (am too huge to walk comfortably now).

congratulations clicking and also Jolls! Your pregnancy seems to be progressing much quicker than mine has

sparklysapphire · 03/05/2012 23:25

Hi ladies,
Would you mind if I join you too? I'm going to be 44 very soon, my DD has just turned 4, and we've been TTC for about 3 months, or more accurately not using contraception and hoping for the best. I've been lurking for a while, and you seem a lovely, supportive, knowledgable bunch, that I've finally joined MN for this thread - this is my first post, so apologies in advance if I'm not quite up with the abbrieviations/ettiquette etc.

10000fireflies · 04/05/2012 06:00

Welcome sparklysapphire. Lovely name! You have defo found one of the best forums on MN. I can't keep away!! You can find some acronyms
here, as for etiquette, I'm sure you will do just fine. Good luck! May your stay be a short one, but ask away and join in while you're here. Ff xx
