Thanks Hana - now I get it!

Eyelash - Im so sorry you're having such a horrible day and I really really hope it all works out ok for you.

In answer to your question - there were 2 reasons. One was because of previous failed attempts I needed to take very high doses of the drugs to get a very small number of eggs and its not advisable to repeat this often. Another is a more physical thing. Apparently my uterus is at an odd angle (??!!- always nice to know!) and it actually made it very difficult for the hospital to implant the embryos each time.

So all in all the general advice was 'think yourself lucky' (which I do).

Anyway - my fingers are firmly crossed for you.

eyelash and nik nik - sorry about your losses. Eyelash - are you sure? Hoping for the best over the next few days for you...

I wonder if someone can give me some advice about charting. I have an American book that pretty much explains it all.....took my temp this morning for the first time and will hopefully begin to see a pattern emerging over the next few weeks, months. Is that all there is too it? I know I should also check my cervical fluid as well. And what about supplements? Is taking evening primrose common knowledge in ttc circles? I have been taking a prenatal vitamin thing for years and years it seems (ttc dd - during pregnancy with dd - bfing dd - ttc #2 etc etc etc I should own shares in the company) And last question is about a short luteal phase - I think I have one - anyone else with one? Is it 'fixable'? I'm going to look at some of the sites that others have posted and get a bit more clued up on it all.
Ahhh, that elusive baby remains just that.

Hi Hana,
If you log on to www.fertilityfriend.com and download the handbook, it will give a great overview of charting, CM etc... you get a month free too and it charts it foryou and tells you when you ov etc.... There is a full expert support too 24hrs. It's very infromative. Basically though, there should be a distinct rise after ov, so it won't tell you when to do it, but all the other signs tog give a great overview.
With regrads short luteal phase, I think there was thread on this further down. However I beleive they use Clomid for this. Can you talk to your Doc maybe?? HTHxxxx

hana · 02/12/2003 17:21

thanks quackers - have just been looking at another site you mentioned on another thread and it was really great - had me in tears at some of the stories, but some excellent advice and information. Just about to look at Fertility Friend (what a stupid name) How are you feeling? Have you had your first scan yet? it's nice to see you 'popping' back on this threadto see how the rest of us are getting on!!

eyelash · 02/12/2003 18:46

Just a quick update - hospital can't find results so going in tonight/am very early to do more bloods. Still on/off mucusy bloody stuff so who knows. Prepared for miscarriage and at least the epu have been fantastic so far.

Good luck to everybody else and please excuse my self-absorbtion at the moment.

Sibble - any news?

bluestar · 02/12/2003 21:26

eyelash, hope it turns out ok for you, thinking of you. Sorry niknik that you've found yourself back here again, wishing you well for the future.

CountessDracula · 02/12/2003 22:11

Eyelash and Niknik, so sorry, hope it all goes right for you soon. xx

sibble · 03/12/2003 03:23

Niknik - am sorry. Eyelash - have fingers and everything crossed for you...will call... well having been very depressed on here teh other day - really because my due date from my m/c earlier this year would have been last Monday, have been ill and DH was playing asleep when I should have been ovulating this month it only dawned on me this afternoon that my period was late so....did test and OMG I am pregnant. Now am having huge panic as have hardly drunk but went OTT this past week as upset, have had a pain on my left side for about a week which I thought was my bowel... etc so fingers crossed that this will not end the same as the last but for today at least I am pregnant...Dh who I have told over the phone thinks alcohol helps as DS was a suprise and he was fine...I am so excited but it is early days yet so am trying not to be too excited.

fisil · 03/12/2003 06:44

Congratulations Sibble.

Fingers crossed eyelash & niknik.

Shall we start a new thread ... this is getting too long for my poor little computer!

M2T · 03/12/2003 08:55

Congrats Sibble!
Will you be joining the August thread? Don't worry about the alcohol!!!! Probably 80% of all babies these days are a suprise!

OP posts:
littlerach · 03/12/2003 08:58

Hurrah for you, Sibble. Agree re the alcohol, dd was a suprise, and had been extremely drunk a couple of times before realising!!

quackers · 03/12/2003 08:59

SIBBLE, I'M DELIGHTED FOR YOU!!!!!!! WELL DONE, IT'S IRONIC THAT ITS THIS TIME AS WELL. WHEN ARE YOU DUE??

hana · 03/12/2003 09:36

Sibble, that's fabulous news to hear today. Really pleased for you, particulary after what sounds like an awful year. Best of luck with this pregnancy!

Sibble

Thats fantastic news!!. This thread is amasingly fertile - it must be all these cold rainy days that making people snuggle under the covers more.

MUM2ELA · 03/12/2003 12:50

HI everyone!

Haven't posted here for a couple of weeks and so its taken a bit of time to catch up with the news and, blimy! Congrats all you preggers people (though by now you have prob all moved over to due threads).

I am still here, however, and feeling a teensy bit envious. I know this is only my 2nd month of trying, I just feel that i won't be that 'lucky' cos I have crap irregular periods and your guess is as good as mine as to when I am going to ovulate

Shagging just isn't much fun now. Could someone come and empty a massive pot of baby dust over my head please . .I think I need a bit more than a sprinkle.

Lots of luck to everyone else.
xx

CountessDracula · 03/12/2003 12:51

Wow well done Sibble!!!!!

quackers · 03/12/2003 13:33

Eyelash, are you ok? Have you had your bloods back today??

M2T · 03/12/2003 13:36

Mum2Ela - I thought I knoew exactly when I ovulated, which is why DH and had sex when we did! I thought it was SAFE! How wrong I was. I am happy, but it was definitely an accident 2 or 3 months ahead of schedule.

So.... so much for knowing your body! lol.

MUM2ELA · 03/12/2003 13:52

Am so excited for you M2T!

Guess I thought it would be like first time round, like you, got preggers the month before officially 'trying'.

Was going to buy a Persona kit at lunchtime but started a thread earlier this morning and the result of which was it prob wouldn't work for me as I am irregular.

Think I am a bit miffed cos if it doens't work out this month, will have to wait til after Christmas, so I can REALLy enjoy Christmas and my birthday (New Years Day)!

eyelash · 03/12/2003 17:45

Sibble - fantastic news. Am very pleased especially as you have had a rough year. Ring me soon for gossip.

I was hoping we would be pregnant at the same time but did more bloods this morning and not good news I am afraid. Level of hormone is low and combined with the bleed means a miscarriage is inevidable. Sort of resigned but at least the miscarriage clinic have been really on the ball. Going to see them in two weeks.

Good luck to everybody else.

sibble · 03/12/2003 18:50

Am nervously off to the August thread - hope I won't be back here with you all again (like last time). Good luck to everybody.

fisil · 03/12/2003 19:18

Oh Eyelash, I'm sorry

bunny2 · 03/12/2003 19:41

Congratulations Sibble, M2T and everyone else - I am still catching up with the news on this fabulously fertile thread! I have been on a bit of a downer but I am now raring to go with some serious bding in the New Year.
