Hi all, we're about to start FET following an unsuccessful round of ICSI last year (well, we got the bfp, but then I miscarried shortly after Sad). But... time to get back on the bike and go again...

Anyone else going through this?

Rakkers- that sounds like you have real pregnancy symptoms- how great! Congrats. Ah how I wish to feel sick and get fatter... Grin

Josie - sorry you are feeling stressed about it all- have you tried zita west relaxation cd- its excellent and really calms you down - or yoga is good too to take your mind off things Wink a bit.

Sunny day here in London today - 1st day I've felt really happy in ages! Going to go for a walk with DH once I've tided all my mess in our house up! Have good Sundays all and waves to you all too

Lumili How devastating for you. Let's really hope that this embryo makes it.
Although little consolation, you got a really good number of healthy eggs. I know 7 out of 11 might not seem like so many, but that is an excellent result so if there is anything to take from this it is that your DP responded really well to the protocol. It's difficult to say why they didn't fertilise. Did they do IVF or ICSI for fertilisation? What were your fertilisation rates like on your previous cycles?

Ellan and Rakkers Best of luck for your forthcoming scans. I really hope that everything is just how it should be. I think if I ever manage to get pg I'll be a quivering wreck for the 36 weeks from the +ve beta.

Josie Welcome. . Make sure you take it easy. I took a couple of days off two weeks back as everything got too much. Both work and life were stressful and I needed some down time. I have done absolutely nothing since EC. Just watched TV, chilled and read. DH and I are currently living on take out!

Milly Your take on Easter eggs made me Smile!

Lizzie I am really sorry that you are having to go through all this. It must be truly awful.

Zebee The image of sniffing under the table made me Grin.

Well I'm booked in for ET on Tuesday, a day 5 transfer. We had 4 embryos this morning (day 3) so got everything crossed that at least 2 make it through to Tuesday and are decent quality.

CareBear1 · 26/02/2012 14:39

Lumili - best of luck for tomorrow, I second what Zeebee and Knackered said. When we started IVF before, we were told that it helps not only by successful pg's, but also it can help pinpoint where things might not be happening, so whatever the outcome you are one step closer.

Lizzie - hope you are holding up ok, you sound very strong thinking about the next round already, good for you.

Knackered - best of luck for Tuesday, hope everything goes well. If there are 2 will you go for a DET or SET?

Zeebee - loved the sniffing stories. You've got to laugh at some of the inelegance of this eh! I don't remember any situations like that from last time, but i do remember once or twice i forgot to sniff after pressing the plunger and just getting dribble all down my chin. Cue lots of dirty jokes from DH. Grin

Waves to everyone else hope all your various stages are going well.

We've definately started the FET round now, went for the first scan and started the drugs yesterday. Didn't realise the drugs would be HRT and was a bit Confused at the instructions which were talking about 50 yr old women!

pumpkinjoy · 26/02/2012 14:47

Hi girls-just catching up with everyones news.

lumili am so sorry for what you have experienced-it is crushing news isnt it? We went through this on our first IVF cycle when we got 6 eggs and zero fertilised-I took that phone call in absolute shock-not knowing why-I really am sending you positive thoughts-what have the embryologists said about the 1 embie? Will you go in for tf tomorrow? Wishing you lots of love and positive thoughts.

JosieI remember you from a previous thread I think-this whole IVF thing is stressful so awful and at times I want to scream and get off the rollercoaster-steamroller more like-rolling all over our dreams! Anyway, there has to be some level of hope in it all otherwise we would all give up-so hope you are feeling slightly stronger today-small steps-and as someone else said-think of the cycle in 'stages'-has really helped me in the past.

Knackeredgood luck for ET-am routing for those blastos! Your relaxing thing and take out routine sounds lush! Will be dancing on tuesday for you x

Zeebee hope you enjoyed your walk-and I had similar thoughts-wanted to head up to Southbank-but my DH is in a lazy mood so have stayed in-having a PJ sunday! DH just about to cook me late lunch so can't complain! I agree with you the sunshine makes us happier-roll on summer-may invest in that relaxation CD-is it really that good? Sending love xx

AFM, am waiting for AF to arrive-STILL! getting annoyed now-CD 36 when my cycles are 32 max normally. Am thinking acupuncture is lenthening my luteal phase where I did have an issue and also only 3rd cycle since MMC and first since hysteroscopy and had to take pill to delay AF for 2 days!!AAARRGH-trying to do nice things that arn't related to TTC bt it's everywhere I look...

Off for nice relaxing bath with hair pack, then lunch, then Friends with benefits (still in PJs) sooooo lazy but housework can wait until tomorrow Wink

Love to all xxxx

pumpkinjoy · 26/02/2012 14:50

Carebear hi! Think we x post. I am waiting for FET cycle too-got buserilin just staring at me-we only have x1 frostie though. Hope you're feeling okay with the drugs-I know what you mean re HRT! xx

bugsylugs · 26/02/2012 17:50

Lumili how hard for you both here is hoping your 1 embie is growing stronger and will be ok for tomorrow remember it only takes one

lumili · 26/02/2012 20:05

Hi,

Knackered cow - good luck with your transfer on tuesday, my fingers are crossed. 2 blastocysts to transfer is great, I bet you are very pleased and excited :-). We did ICSI, we have all three times. the first time we had 8 eggs collected, 5 were mature and those 5 fertilised. Second time was terrible, 5 eggs collected, only 1 was mature and that one fertilised.

Zeebee, bugsylugs and Pumpkinjoy - thank you for your kind words.

Carebear - I know what you are saying is true, we were just hoping that this would be third time lucky and we would get there this time. It is so heartbreaking knowing that the 1st time it worked but then we miscarried and the next 1 didnt work and this time, well lets keep hoping.....

Well, we are leaving for the clinic tomorow at 6.30am, we have to be there for 8.30am. My partner is going to be sedated for the egg transfer as the last one didn't go too well. Transfer will be at midday. Here is hoping that the embie is still growing strong :-)

We are going to have assisted hatching this time around, has anyone else got any experience of this?

Fingers crossed, as you all say it only takes 1 and at this current moment we still have one. Positive thinking all the way.

So sorry to hear that Lumili but as others have said, it only takes one. I hope the transfer goes ok and I?ll be thinking of you both today

Zeebee I?m new to the sniff thing, I usually just sob in front of everybody Blush You?re the second person to recommend the zita west CD, I think I?ll have to give it a try

Knackered fingers crossed your embies make it and are the ones

Pumpkin and CareBear is buserelin HRT?? That?s what I?m on and I didn?t even realise it?s HRT! I?m obviously very observant! I?m a week in so far and apart from some bruising, not too bad, although I?m squeamish with needles so bruises and injecting doesn?t go well, I?m running out of places to inject, even though I only have three bruises Grin Out of interest, do you have to inject into a certain part of your stomach or can it be anywhere, i.e. all the way up to your belly button and out to your hip bones or does it have to be more central? Did that make sense Confused

Not a lot to report here, some bruising but the last few injections have been ok, fingers crossed it stays that way, and last night, yes it was a big build up as usual, but after, instead of feeling mopey, I had a laugh with DH. That was a relief because it?s usually such a big issue I feel a bit weepy after, and it reminds you of what you?re working towards, but last night it was just like, right, that?s done, what can we do now? There was no dwelling on what the injections mean, or might not mean IYKWIM. Off to get some arnica gel tonight, and order that zita west cd.

Hope you are all ok

jumpingjackhash · 27/02/2012 09:24

Wow! Lots of updates since I was last here, I don't have much time but wanted to send you good thoughts lumili, hope it all goes well. Just to echo the rest of the ladies on here, it does only take 1 - this little fella might be it! Keep us posted and remember we're here to celebrate and support, whatever happens.

zeebee, snigger at you snorting under the table! I've had to do it in loo cubicles, sure the people waiting outside thought I was doing coke! Have also had to do it on the tube before, and at my desk (blamed it on allergies!).

Will be back later to read through the updaets properly!

Just replying to lumili really quickly - not ignoring everybody else!

Hope ET went ahead smoothly and your embryo was looking good this morning. Let's hope it's a sticky one. Have the clinic mentioned why ICSI has been needed? ICSI would normally get quite a good fertilisation rate. Sounds like you've been really unlucky, but hopefully that will change and your ET will be a success!

lumili · 27/02/2012 13:16

Hi Ladies,

Lizziebennet thank you for keeping your fingers crossed, the previous ET was very painful for my DP, think it was because she had an uptilted cervix. I hope your bleed starts soon.

JosieSmith1 thank you for thinking of us today. I am glad the injections are going well.

Jumpingjackhash thank you for your kind words.

KnackeredCow my clinic always recommend ICSI because they suggest that it has a higher ferilisation rate. So we went with it because we went the highest chance possible.

We went to the clinic this morning and were told they our embryo had become 4 cells by this morning and they said they were happy with how the embryo looked. We went for the assisted hatching, as there are suggestions that there is a higher success of pregnancy with this. To be honest we would try anything right now to get that much awaited for pregnancy. Transfer went well and the clinic were happy. We came away with the scan picture which shows where out little embryo has been inserted. So myself and my DP are feeling much more upbeat today.

So we are now praying that the little embryo sticks and hope that the terrible 2 week wait goes quickly........

Hope you are all well.

xxx

JosieSmith1 · 27/02/2012 14:20

That's good news lumili, fingers crossed for a sticky one. I didn't realise you get a scan picture. I hope the 2ww is good to you both

zeebee1 · 27/02/2012 15:43

Lumili! Grin so pleased the transfer went ok. Wishing you both well on the 2ww. Can your dp take time off work to totally relax, or is that not possible?
Hi to everyone else... Brief from me today - still sniffing- boooooring.
Jumping is your transfer still scheduled for this week??

Lumili great news embie is on board here's hoping is a little sticky.

pumpkinjoy · 27/02/2012 18:44

Routing for you lumili-sounds more positive-here's to the little embie nustling in xx

lumili · 27/02/2012 18:46

Josiesmith1 yes we always get a scan picture at embryo transfer, you can't really see much, just a little white dot, but it makes you feel happy :)

Zeebee1 my DP is taking a week off work, so she can relax. I am not going to let her do anything.

Lizziebennet My DP was heavily sedated for ET this time around, however the doctor said that it was a smooth ET. So fingers crossed.

Jumpingjackhash good luck for tomorrow, hope all goes well. Thinking of you.

Karbea · 27/02/2012 19:00

Hi all,

I'm on day 6 of DR and feel so tired :( I called into sick this morning, just feel exhausted :( af due tomorrow so this could be why...

Anyone else feel like this whilst DRing??

Wendyb65 · 27/02/2012 19:33

Hi everyone, I had 1 donor blasto transferred on my birthday, Feb 15th, and yesterday my test was positive! Just got to keep everything crossed that things will continue to go well! Previous cycle failed and I had two mc while on clomid and injection treatment previously. Am hoping for more success using a much younger egg!

Good luck to everyone else!

JosieSmith1 · 28/02/2012 08:33

Congratulations Wendy!!! Fingers crossed for success this time!

Can I ask a strange question. I'm on buserelin to turn off my cycle (is that down-regging?) and I just realised I'm on day 33 of a usually 28-30 day cycle. I started on day 24, could it be the medication stopping AF arriving? I'm not sure how this all works. The clinic said I might get some bleeding but so far I haven't had any, is that normal? I'm sure everyone is different, just looking for some opinions please. Karbea I also feel completely exhausted and run down, I just thought it was an effect of the drugs

KnackeredCow · 28/02/2012 09:45

Wendy Welcome and good luck!

Thanks for all the good wishes everyone. Embryologist has called. We have 2 really good blastocysts (all 4 day 3 embryos did actually make it through to today). Having the two good ones put back later this morning! The other two aren't good enough for cryo, unfortuantely. We know that there is a high risk of twins with a DBT, but given our previous experiences we know we are making the right decision.

Josie My clinic does the same as lumili's and gives a scan picture of the transfer, and a picture of your embryo(s). I found it strangely comforting after the early m/c on my last fresh cycle, and I've stuck them in an album. I found it helpful in coming to terms with the loss.

Jumping Any news on when your transfer might be?

Lizzie How are you feeling today?

Hi to everybody else I haven't mentioned by name.

jumpingjackhash · 28/02/2012 10:02

Hi all, I'm only going in for a scan to check my lining is thickening on Thursday, so no idea when transfer is going to happen.

Can anyone give me a clue if it's likely to be within days of this scan, or another week or so? Hospital didn't say when I last went in to run through the drug regime and I didn't think to ask about it then.

I'm hoping it won't be too long but I'm a little worried, as it was quite uncomfortable (to the point of painful) last time. What's the chances of them giving me a sedative to help me relax?
