Hey All!
Im currently on CD 20 so around 8-10 days until the AF arrives or I can test :D Just thought there may be some others that are waiting and driving themselves crazy! Thought we could hopefully share our BFP within the next few weeks, and keep each other sane! :D

yes i think so
I don't think it says early predictor on them, but I think they pick up the HCG at low levels.

DesperateHousewife21 · 31/01/2012 10:54

Ok I'll have a look and buy as many as I can!

Keep going to the loo to check for AF. This is only the first proper month ttc so I'd be v lucky. It only took one month with ds. I think I'm quite a fertile person though Grin

twolittlemonkeys · 31/01/2012 11:21

Congratulations KPT

I'm still holding out (AF due Wed/Thurs if the Clomid has worked) so going to try to wait til Friday or Saturday, no guarantees I'll manage it though, especially with a drawer full of HPTs in the bathroom (I buy in bulk online, about £3 for 20).

I really want to use the waiting time productively but instead have spent most of the past week on the computer, googling my (imaginary) symptoms, convincing myself that my sense of smell has heightened and that I'm going to the loo more frequently, and that my chocolate cravings are worse than they usually are pre-AF. I really am a nutter.

Must go and practise my saxophone, as my lesson is tomorrow and I've been so distracted I didn't practise at all over the weekend (tut tut)

DesperateHousewife21 · 31/01/2012 11:28

Ive got faint aches and slight stabby pains now, think AF is imminent :(

speculationisrife · 31/01/2012 13:07

OK, on the basis that joining this thread will probably make AF arrive, may I join you for a bit? I am the most impatient person in the world, and rubbish at not testing too early, so I'm hoping this thread will give me a bit of willpower.

ttc no. 2 at the grand old age of 39. Over the past six months my cycle has shortened from 28-30 days to 25/26 days (a sign of being past my best, probably!). So, no AF yet and today is CD 27. Had sharp stabbing pain in my cervix last night as I was falling asleep and strong cramps about an hour ago (had this with dd - briefer and more intense than period pains).

So, I have a Boots cheapie at home. Shall I use it tomorrow morning, or go and get an expensive test at lunchtime today and do it in the loos at work this afternoon? Waste of money?

If you've read this far, well done!

Oh, yes and BD'd on cd 11 but that's the only time we've managed this month. I'm not going to be pg at my age with one go, am I?!

wifey6 · 31/01/2012 13:07

Hi everyone...a massive congrats to all the BFPs...hope you ladies are keeping well. Sad to those who the AF hag has visited!
DH21....don't give up hope yet..not until AF arrives.
Well AF is now over for me..so I'm on the ttc bus but will be back here with you all soon ...

DesperateHousewife21 · 31/01/2012 13:15

specilation maybe do a test tomo morning? You could get a few cheapos then you can do a few (like what I'll be doing!)

wifey welcome back! Glad AF has left, now you can get on with all the baby making!

DesperateHousewife21 · 31/01/2012 13:16

Sorry speculation can't even get your name right!

Snowbeetle · 31/01/2012 14:38

OOooo speculation poas right now right NOW! you need to be sensible and wait till morning so you can feel all smug at your willpower and not waste money. You will trust the result more if you are using the good strong stuff in the morning - if you do it now you will only blame any poss bfn on too much tea/coffee and do it in the morning anyway.

speculationisrife · 31/01/2012 15:05

I confess - I went to Boots, bought 2 packs of 2 First Response (second for half price) and went and peed in the pub next door! I know, nearly 40 and I have the willpower of a toddler. Needless to say Snowbeetle, it was a BFN and I am blaming too much tea/coffee/water and will do the Boots cheapie in the morning Grin!

Also, with dd I did a First Response test on day 30 and it was a BFN. Tested again on day 34 (still can't believe I managed to wait 4 days, but think I just assumed that was it for that month!) and was BFP, so of course I'm thinking (hoping) that it's just a false neg.

Told you I was rubbish!

Snowbeetle · 31/01/2012 15:23

Your confession is noted and you must do 10 star jumps penance for being a bad influence on impressionable people like me

It's all a rollercoaster!!

I'm on day 19 of a 24 day cycle and still wondering if it isn't too early. Pah! What a wally I am. Grin

pippilongsmurfing · 31/01/2012 15:25

I'm on CD22 today, and just could not resist the urge to POAS, obviously negative Sad ,as it's far too early to tell, but it's just so hard to wait.

Whilst I was at the docs this morning, I mentioned we were going fof the every other day schedule, for intercourse, and she said that this may be too much, as in it's not enough time to give his testes a chance to grow lots of good quality sperm. She reckoned every other, other day would be better.

What does Mumsnet wisdom say?! Confused

Snowbeetle · 31/01/2012 15:30

well all the research I have done from upstanding medical sources say lurve making should be every two or three days. I bet sperm production varies from bloke to bloke a bit too.
I do remember a program on BBC (which is sadly no longer on iplayer even though it was very recent and brill)
saying that sperm which arrives before ovulation but gets as far as the fallopian tube goes dormant and is re-awakened by the ovulation hormones to carry on and meet the egg, for up to 5-7 days early, apparently this is very fresh information in the field... from what they said. Which is encouraging for those who get one in early but aren't sure if they caught the day or not. :)

ifrustrated · 31/01/2012 15:41

Well I'm on cd19 and I just poas BlushGrin

Of course it was bfn, I knew it would be but hearing that a mum at school is pg made me desperate to be the next one Sad

LauraM20 · 31/01/2012 15:43

Hey all!
Congratulations on the BFP for those who have them! I'm still waiting to ovulate!! Now on cd 16 (day 16 is the latest I have ever ovulated before) so not sure why I have not yet ovulated!? Never mind fingers crossed I will over the next few days, then I can join you all on 2ww!

Chunkychicken · 31/01/2012 15:45

Hi all. I usually just lurk on this thread because a) my cycle is v unpredictable/irregular & I don't know if I've ov'd and b) this is only my 2nd cycle actively TTC #2 so not really a hardcore TTC/2WW-er...

But had to say that is fantastic info Snowbeetle - it gives me fresh hope!! We've been DTD as often as possible but as I can only get a vague idea of when ov happens (not charting - yet ) and DH works v long hours, we don't HAVE the stamina for every other day SWI!!

And Pippi I gather, from reading on here, unless there might be a prob with his swimmers, DTD every other day is ok. But equally others say, doing it 3-4x a wk is enough, whilst fertility friend says do it every day through your fertile time. I think they recommend 3-4 days 'recovery' time for men with a lower sperm count etc. But then, I'm not an expert, just an avid MN-er... :)

Snowbeetle · 31/01/2012 15:50

Hi Chunky - yes I was very relieved to hear that information too for similar reasons.
So what happens now is I molest seduce dh from when AF buggers off again (lining up the little swimmers cos they can live up to a week, till I'm thinking ov has been (egg only lives 2 days max after all)
Then I can take my SWI hat off again and revert to only having a fumble cos its fun. It keep me sane. Grin

Snowbeetle · 31/01/2012 15:51

p.s Hi Laura :)

speculationisrife · 31/01/2012 15:51

How very reassuring to know that I'm not the most bonkers person here re POAS too early Grin.

Snowbeetle - If I do starjumps I might wee a little bit Blush. May I just wear my hairshirt instead? That's very interesting about dormant sperm!

I must say I'm not really sure when I ovulate - some months I think I can tell, others not. I can never be bothered with sticks - the only time I tried them they told me I hadn't ovulated at all - clearly not true, as that was the month I got pg with dd.

I do like this thread - I think it's going to save me from ranting IRL - fortunately for my DH, mum and friends. Obsessive much!

DesperateHousewife21 · 31/01/2012 15:54

I bought 2 packs of cheapie boots tests, so 4 tests in total and wondering whether to do one now or wait til morning as AF still hasn't arrived.

I don't need the loo though Confused I haven't had anything to drink (or eat!) for 2 hours.

Asda only had CB tests but I wanted cheapie line-in-a-window types.

Snowbeetle · 31/01/2012 15:54

speculation Grin. Hairshirt will do nicely. :)

agreed - without this outlet I would kill any passion dh may have by my ranting in RL and then I would scupper any possibility of conception by being a complete passion-killer!

haha

Little does he realise how I am getting secretly obssessed. Grin

Snowbeetle · 31/01/2012 15:56

oh Dh21 I'm getting excited for you. If you have a bfp may I feel vicariously elated

DesperateHousewife21 · 31/01/2012 15:58

You may feel elated! I'm sure I will too, I just want to know its ridiculous that I've finally got to day 28 yet the stupid tests/AF is not telling me anything!

DesperateHousewife21 · 31/01/2012 16:08

Tested again, bfn. But then there was hardly any wee I've GOT to wait til tomo now.

twolittlemonkeys · 31/01/2012 16:10

Dammit I caved and tested early .... BFN :( Stupid to test mid-afternoon on only CD27, I know. Think I'll go cheer myself up by eating my bodyweight in chocolate before DH gets home. Why didn't I just wait? I bet AF is just going to taunt me now...
