Kittens been thinking of you a lot and I hope you're doing ok and working through this difficult time.

I'm feeling much the same as you free... I can't wait for this year to be over, it's been such a shitty year, with me being pg or mc-ing or having tests most of the year. It's been all about baby stuff with nothing to show for it. On the upside, I've learnt so much about NKCs and so on this year, which I'd rather not know about but lets face it I haven't got a chance of having a baby without Mr S and his regime, so overall I'm glad I have found out about all this! Had a weepy moment earlier on, and can't see me making midnight without more emotional moments tbh. Esp after too much vino!

The best thing of all this year is I've found you guys, and I know now that I'm not by any means alone in this - I've lost count of the number of times I've read someone's post and it's been like reading my own thoughts. This thread has made such a massive difference to the last few months I can't tell you.

Dh and i are going out for dinner/drinks/dancing tonight with some friends. I'm looking forward to it which is nice in itself. Haven't looked forward to anything for a while. I just wish AF had played ball and been over and done with for tonight. I took my last Pred this morning, which was a nice symbolically-timed end to the last pg, but the last dregs of AF are still going which I'm really upset about. This may sound silly, but it would've been nice to go out tonight "clean" without need of a pant liner. Sorry if tmi!!

I hope everyone has a lovely new year's eve whatever you're up to, and that 2012 treats us all a whole lot better than 2011 did. Gotta keep looking forward and keeping those hopes alive xx

igginezerscrooge · 31/12/2011 15:42

Choccy that sounds like a lovely evening Smile
I'm laid up in bed with cold so not having a great day, but then again I was in hospital having erpc this time last year, so it is an improvement!
I really wish there was a way to stop me clicking on threads about pg loss - saw one today which reminded me of the fatal conditions that might show up for the first time at the 20 wk scan (mine's on Thurs). I have become uber paranoid that anything, however statistically unlikely, that can happen will happen.

Kittens it is good to see you online, I hope you are coping ok and will be able to come home soon.

suemays · 31/12/2011 16:56

Sorry ladies have not been on here for a while so hello to all the newbies such as Cornflakes and Janethomas.

Kittens so sorry to hear about your mum but as least she is not suffering now. I know when my uncle died we were relieved in one way that it had happened as he was no longer the uncle I remembered at the end. Its great that you have a lot of support over there. The hard time will be when you come home and all the wellwishers have stopped visiting. It hits home then what has happened as you are almost on autopilot sorting the funeral etc and dont have time to grieve properly.

Well I have a bit of news, it looks like my theory of us all being too healthy to get pregnant etc has worked in my case. After getting the news from NLC last week that I didnt ovulate this month I had resigned myself to trying on the superov plan in Jan. So I spent most of Christmas with either a glass of Baileys or wine in my hand and ate loads of cheese and pate. Thought I would do a test on Thurs as was waiting for my AF and was sure there was a faint line but couldnt be sure. Did another test yesterday and today and the line has got darker over the 3 days plus have sore boobs etc so I think that counts as a BFP! I still dont know how it happened as I was sure ovulation had stopped for me, it's a flippin miracle! Digi you were right, I was not out of the game so I must have ovulated right after my appointment last week. I don't know how early the FRER can pick up the HCG though so have no idea how far along I am!! Worried now as I only took the preds for 3 days this cycle seeing as I thought ovu had stopped. I hope the fact I have a sinus infection/cold means the dreaded killer cells are still suppressed and that my lack of preds is OK.

Started taking the cyclogest last night. Where do all the preg ladies put the cyclogest - front or back? I remember someone saying they bled from the front end after taking cyclogest so wondered what the best place is for it!!!

Duggs I had an interesteing conversation with a midwife who is a friend of my parents last night (she has been one for over 20 years). I told her that I was having trouble conceiving this time compared to before and she asked me if I was on aspirin. Apparently it is not widely known but aspirin can act as a mild contraceptive. The docs dont want to announce it as are worried that people will try using it as a contraceptive! She suggested that I should take the aspirin from ovulation (same as preds). I dont know if this is correct or not but St Marys told em to take aspirin from BFP so I wonder if it is true?
I think with the superov programme the majority fall in months 4-6 with the remaining in 6-12.

The midwife was also telling me that she has had quite a few ladies who have given birth to their first child naturally and without any fertility drugs at the age of 49! There is hope for us all yet. She said that the ones who get their babies eventually are the ones who dont give up.

Anyway, sorry for the long post! Can someone move me to the first trimester bit when they next update.

Choccy enjoy your drinks tonight, you deserve it!

Iggi you are bound to be worried and on google every 5 mins, I am doing that already! I think we will all be the same with all the miscarriages we have had.

Happy new year to everyone and lets hope 2012 is the year for us all xxx

duggs1976 · 31/12/2011 17:24

sue oh fabulous news honey! At last.
Am really pleased for you.
Thanks for the tips re asprin. I will stop it now.

I'm going to try IUI next month at new life clinic. Haven't had a chance to speak to dr s yet but LS advised me of who I'd see at NLC.

Am just dropping some friends off at LHR as they jet off to Thailand with their 7 mth old for a monthEnvy DH has man flu and our friends who were joining us for a low key NYE wife is also sick. Looks like dexter, me and a bottle of malbec ;-)

Roll on 2012 cannot arrive soon enough jxxxx

digitalgirl · 31/12/2011 17:55

Wow sue congratulations!!! What lovely news for us to start the New Year with. Can't believe you kept it quiet from us since Thursday. I'd also heard the theory about aspirin preventing implantation and didn't start taking it till maybe 9dpo (also I bruised like a peach on it so stopped for vanity reasons too). Fwiw I went with the back for progesterone as I'd read it absorbed better that way. Also less messy.

Good to hear from you kittens

Will update list when I'm on the laptop. Smile

We've just watched The Lion King...and DS loved it so much we're watching it again.

OP posts:
eurochick · 31/12/2011 20:12

Congrats, sue! That's great news!

I've heard so many different things about aspirin that I don't know what to think! Mr S definitely told me to go on it. I'd tried it before that for a few months and hadn't got a BFP.

Kittens, I'm thinking of you.

Our NYE plans fell through too because our would-be hostess has contracted C-Difficile. She has no idea how as it is usually caught by really sick people who have been on a lot and who have had loads of antibiotics. She's a dr but none of her charges have been symptomatic. There is just no way she should have got it. So we have made last minute plans to have NYE at our place with another couple who didn't have plans. Mr euro and I have spent the afternoon in a cooking frenzy - he has made lots of savoury tapas (chorizo, prawns, tortilla, etc) and I have made chocolate macaroons and pistachio macaroons for dessert and the last bottle of our wedding champers is in the fridge.

Today is a bit emotional - we started to properly ttc last NYE. SO I am glad I have distractions tonight.

Happy New Year to all.

cherrycheeks · 31/12/2011 20:51

Oooh euro tapas sound lovely- do you have room for one more?

Big NYE congratulations to you sue that's fantastic news!Smile

I'm home alone (DD fast asleep in bed) as DH has gone to the pub.

Looking forward to 2012, let's hope it brings us everything we wish for xxx

Arianrhod · 31/12/2011 23:12

Huge congratulations sue, what a fantastic way to start the new year!!

kittens just really wanted to say I'm thinking of you and sending lots of virtual strength and hugs. You are an amazing woman!

sue I didn't know that about aspirin! And I'm now wondering whether despite the MTHFR I should only take it from OV or BFP? Can I just ask the pregnant ladies what you all did with regards to taking aspirin?

Finally I echo choccy's words .. this has been a truly sh*tty year, I'm heartily glad to see the back of it but at the same time I'm immensely grateful to have found you ladies. You have given me strength when I had none, information that I didn't know and laughs when I needed them. Thank you all, and I wish each and every one of you health, happiness and your heart's desire in 2012.

Cheerfulcharlie · 01/01/2012 06:11

Happy New Year everyone! 2011 was a strange year. I felt the first 6 months feeling really sad and tearful after my last m/c in Dec 2010 then I really started feeling more positive after visiting Dr S for the first time in June. I think I'm not the only one here to feel that 2011 was at least a year of a lot of education for me and that can only be a really positive thing. Let's hope we all have a very happy 2012.

Sue - what a fantastic New Year present. I'm really pleased for you. I use the back for the progesterone as there is least risk of infection and much more comfortable.

This is all very interesting about the aspirin. I was taking it religiously at least a month or so before I started TTC this time. Not heard that one before but might be worth looking into the research on it. Difficult to know what to do Ari with the MTHFR. I was told to take it every day for the rest of my life, not sure I will though.

Sounds like none of us had a particularly rock and roll NYE last night! I certainly didn't sitting in with DH watching a rather rubbish film with the volume turned up trying to drown out the music from next door's family party (Bollywood interspersed with Barbie and Karma Chameleon) whilst drinking sparkling pommegranite juice! We couldn't even be bothered to wander outside and see the fireworks but did watch them on the TV and they were pretty impressive.

Kittens I have also heard of the theory that your Gran's friend believes in. I didn't know it was called the exit and entrance theory, but I have seen it really quite a few times in family and friends over the years, it is almost spooky. Certainly an interesting one. Maybe your mum will be able to work her magic from above for you in 2012.

Happy new year ladies !!! X

Quiet one for us in a hotel in Manchester but very nice. Emotional one as this time last new years day we got a BFP which resulted in our 4th and hopefully final MMC before we decided to see Mr S. How the year has gone so quick and so much has happened. Had our first appt with Mr S beg march started ttc in may and here we are in Jan almost 7 months cooked ! I dont want to feel sorry for my self too much ladies but after the life I've had with regards to bad luck if this can happen to me it can happen to anyone and 2012 is our year ladies ( not to sound too much like THatcher !!) were gonna have a good year between us full of good test results, BFPS, healthy pregnancies and little bouncing babas I just know it !!

Heres to 2012 and here's to us xxxxGrin

PQ77 · 01/01/2012 10:54

yay 2011 is over! I hope I can say here. I have had to shut off facebook and the posts about how people have had the most amazing year etc I would love to shout out to the world that 2011 has been the absolute worst year of my life. But i won't - I'll just say that here and keep smiling for everyone else. So yes you're right stogan (or stroganoff as is now fixed in my brain) - here's to 2012 and here's to us and lots of good news!

great news sue that must have been a big surprise!!

Have heard lots of things about aspirin - including conflicting messages about taking it from BFP vs taking it the whole time. From what I have read, it can improve the quality of the egg released so that is one of the reasons to keep taking it continuously (and an issue for me when I can conceive easily but have duff eggs). Plus if you have a recognised clotting issue, then I think that is another factor in favour of taking it continuously.

kittens - I had a couple of women say to me at dad's funeral that they conceived shortly after a parent had died (it explained a big gap between one woman's children and another who I had always thought of as an "older" mum). I also think that having a seriously ill family member produces a constant level of stress that permeates everything until you are no longer aware of it any more and how destructive it can be (and harmful to fertility).

Hope everyone had a nice night last night - you sound like a super baker euro!. it was our wedding anniversary too - poor DH didn't get a card from me but we did manage to go out to a neighbour's house party until 9pm (when DS pointed out that he needed to go home to sleep).

lemonsherbet · 01/01/2012 11:22

Here is to 2012. Figure it must be better than last year. A fresh start and full of luck for all the ladies on this thread.

digitalgirl · 01/01/2012 12:00

Happy New Year everyone!

Know what you mean about the fb statuses on 2011 PQ. I just put that I got through it. Hopefully we'll be able to say how brilliant our 2012s were this time next year. Good luck with this cycle.

For the last two nye's I was between miscarriages. So I started both 2010 and 2011 full of hope and optimism. This is the first time I've seen in a new year while pregnant, so I'm hoping my optimism is slightly more justified. Thinking of all of you on the wttc list having been there so many times, keep on hoping.

Still haven't made any references to the fact that I'm pregnant on fb. I regularly update with inane food/ds related rubbish so if it weren't for the rmc I'd be one of those posting about scans etc) - and no-one's posted any photos of me with bump yet. So may get to 30+ weeks before being outed.

cheerful thanks for doing the list!

free only just over a week to go till you and cheerful hit second trimester. Really looking forward to seeing you and more of the 1st tri ladies move up the list.

stogan get you in a hotel! How lovely, did you have breakfast in bed? Am so happy you're now in the 30-something weeks. Have you thought about a birth plan?

euro mmmm macaroons. Haven't attempted those yet, but they're on my list of treats to make for a birthday one day.

Am still umming and erring over what kind of cake to do for dh's birthday party this Saturday. May just do a big pile of boozy brownies.

OP posts:
freelancegirl · 01/01/2012 12:30

Booze brownies....mmm. Once again I want to move in with Digi. Regular reassurance and a steady supply of home baking! Euro sounds pretty good with that too.

It's going tO be a crap post from ms as my mac has decided to die! Try to get fixed this week. Had Nye with jools holland and a little emotional hug with dh at midnight, do glad 2011 is over but also scared to be optimistic.

Great news about sue! It's lovely to see that 1st trimester list growing, and yes it would be incredible if we start moving up to the second. And others tO the third!

Charlie thanks for doing the list, it's so satisfying being able to see us on there. Here's to more list migration upwards imminently. Oh and the healthy return of the mac so I can post properly.

Kittens thinking about you tomorrow, hope it all goes as well as possible xx

eurochick · 01/01/2012 12:50

Boozy brownies sound great. I love baking. I am generally lacking in homely skills (hate cleaning and ironing, rubbish at sewing, etc) but I can bake! I am making an apple cake later to take to friends we are visiting tomorrow. I figure it has fruit in it so it can be part of the new year health kick for everyone, right?

I'm glad so many of you are having optimistic starts to the year. I am glad 2011 is over. I have been unhappy for so much of it. Right now, I feel like I am going to be on the "waiting to ovulate" list for perpetuity! This is the first cycle since starting ttc that I have been eager for AF to arrive so I can get on with ovulating and then starting the treatment.

suemays · 01/01/2012 13:20

Hi ladies, just a quick note on some info I found on aspirin yesterday about the dosage to take. I am taking 150mg as St Marys diagnosed me with a high TEG result. Dr S is fine with me doubling up. Interesting about the BMI link below:

www.repromed.avon.nhs.uk/Professionals-infertility/Infertility/RecurrentMiscarriageforclinicansOct05.htm

Happy New Year to everyone!!

ColeyOz · 01/01/2012 13:25

Happy New Year from beautiful Lake Como. I really hope this is a good year for everyone on this thread. We all deserve it!

That's great news Sue - I'm really glad you have your BFP. Fingers crossed its a sticky one:)

I'm feeling pretty sick every day so I guess that's a good sign but will know in 10 days at my scan. Should be pretty conclusive at 8+2.

Lake como, coley. How gorgeous. Hope you're having a lovely time. Good you added your dates etc. Glad you are feeling rough too, in the nicest possible way!

I am feeling quite rough still too, a few weird dizzy spells and tiredness. Actually all week I have been a bit nauseous and tired. Am think some of it might be because of tapering the Pred. As from yesterday I am down to 25mg again from 40, 35, 30. I am really looking forward to coming off it buy I think I might hover at 25 for a couple of extra days.

Ive had a bit if lower back ache today, is that normal? I always sit there anxiously waiting for it to get worse (the memory of mc contractions still with me) but it just goes. also little things wear me out, like I walk upstairs I find myself breathing heavier than I would normally, is that normal too?

batteryhen · 01/01/2012 16:12

Happy new year all :)

We had a quiet one too, just me, DP the cat and dog :) Lovely. I am not sorry to see the back of 2011, so heres to 2012.

Interesting about the aspirin, I have been taaking it since I first saw MR S in August. I now take double aspirin as like sue I have had a hight TEG result from ST Marys.
coley Where is your scan at on the 11th? I have a scan on the same day at St Marys.

I am say here stuffing chocolates and having a lazy day. Both DP and I have another week off work yet so we plan to take the new pup to the coast to see what he thinks of the sea :)

Hope everyone is ok, sorry for the lack of personals - I just seem to be tired all the time recently xx

Have moved me to the waiting to ovulate section. Round 5 of pred to start in a few weeks. Think I will go for the hysterscopy on 23 Jan as it won't hurt to see what else is happening in there.. obviously no conceptions..

Off to see the Girl with the dragon Tatoo now.. catch up later ladies..
x
btw.. (anyone know if I have a chance to TTC this month before my hysteroscopy on 23rd Jan - I will be CD25 so if I have a blood test I could check if I was pregnant - or am I pushing it a bit?)

Free, I have had very slight lower backache from time to time, doesn't feel like cramping, but like as you say, that cramping may come on. Sounds like the progesterone makes all the joints looser so could just be the vertebrae shifting a bit. Plus remember this little baby is already pushing our guts up north so there's a lot of rearrangements going on inside not just inside the uterus. (on thurs at 10 wks mine had moved upwards and couldn't be seen as clearly on the transvaginal scan any more).

I have also been breathless. Could be a lack of iron? I have upped my red meat intake which I normally keep to one portion a week and it's got slightly better.

I told my mum today (via skype). First we have told (apart from the odd random person like supermarket check out lady when they ask if I have kids)

Congratulations Sue and all the best!

Ah Free it is loively to hear you complaining of pg symptoms - all sounds normal to me. Breatlessness very common I think, I certainly get it (now and with ds) and I find my back aches a bit if I've been standing a while (eg wrapping christmas presents on the bed). I think you are fine.
Pissing dh off by constantly bemoaning lack of movement in here, I feel the odd thing but could be wind just as likely as baby Confused
