How gutted to log on and find that someone had beaten me to the 1000 post and I couldn't update on the old thread.

Particularly as I got my BFP last night!!! I'd had two BFNs last week and was expecting AF to arrive while on holiday but it never came... Got more and more convinced that I was pg (feeling a bit sick too) as the weekend went on and literally tested within 10 mins of arriving home. Poor DH was still unloading the car as I greeted him at the door with my pink line!

Very excited although a bit apprehensive too. Really want to tell everyone but obviously don't want to this early so am REALLY pleased I have all you lovely ladies on MN to share with.

I was too excited to do more than skim the last few pages on the last thread but did see there had been several other BFPs so congratulations to all those too!

Mornin' all.

Sorry to hear you're all a bit stressed out at the moment. My stressful time is neeearly over - if only I could get this bimmin' document I'm producing at the moment signed off today (I've been saying that for the past week!!)... so hopefully I'll be the one calming people down for once :)

Anyway, given that we're all super busy and stressed with work/illnesses/family/etc on top of TTC at the moment, I reckon we should all make the commitment to do two nice things for ourselves between now and the end of the weekend - maybe only a small thing like going out for a coffee or having a movie night with a takeaway or giving yourself a manicure. It doesn't have to take long but should be at least 15 minutes that you can take out guilt free from revising/childcare/etc. Think it could do everyone some good, what do you think?? :)

Nothing to report SS wise here - apart from being exceptionally tired as soon as I get home. Have literally done nothing the past few evenings except for slump in front of the TV. Going to test on Sat. DP actually bought up testing last night and told me to tell him when I'm doing it so he's awake and ready if it's a BFP. Never thought too much about involving him - I guess it's all happening in my body - but it does make sense and nice to know he's thinking about it all as much as me :)

mama5 so good to hear from you - get that internet sorted soon so we can catch up with you!

oggy make sure you check in when you get the chance - and hope the next week isn't too stressful.

Same to you ilanthe - and hope to see you around on one of the preg boards next year! Would be fab to keep updated as to where everyone has got to on their TTC crusades!

Sorry to those who've had AFs arrive - we should just turn this into a general 'summer-autumn-winter 2012' plane I reckon, so stick around! :)

Rusulka · 10/11/2011 10:37

Af has been a pain in the arse this cycle, would like some advice, please.
(TMI alert)
Normally I get 3 days of heavy, 1 day of meh, and 1 day of spotting (brownish discharge) which I don't usually bother using a tampon for. This month, I have had this brown yuck for 4 WHOLE DAYS now, on top of my usual 4 days of normal bleed. WTF?
So we haven't been able to really start SWI as I don't want to gross DH out by coating his undercarriage with something unnecessary.
Then this morning, my temp has dropped significantly. I don't normally OV until day 14/15- it's day 8 at the mo.

Should mention I have a cold still, which might be cocking around with me.
I've POAOS and POAS, nothing on the latter, and a reeeeeeeeeeeally faint line on the former, which at least tells me I haven't OV'd yet. I think. Or am about to.
Don't know what to do about my brown stuff though. Should I jump DH tonight and hope for the best, or go the doc as panics about cervical cancer are getting the better of me? I'm overdue a smear test (moved), but can't sort it 'til the brown stuff goes. (I know, I know) (Should mention I'm on yearly smear tests since being diagnosed with CIN 1 a few years ago- subsequent tests were normal).

Right. All that being said... advice please?

louloubellamozzarella · 10/11/2011 10:57

rusulka I would say it's AF hanging around - maybe the cold has messed it up?

It might sound a little gross but I've heard several stories of women who SWI right at the end of their AF and got pregnant after long periods trying. If it's lasted this long then your body could be gearing up for ov now therefore SWI now could mean that the spermies are around to catch the egg right away. If you're comfortable with this it could be worth a try.

If AFdoesn't go away in a couple of days - given your medical history - I ould check it out to put your mind at rest.

MooleyWooleyShamaLamaDingDong · 10/11/2011 13:15

I have treated myself to some new doggy slippers and my parents are coming this weekend, so that's my treats/break from revision sorted!!

Had my blood tests this morning, so a waiting game to see if they raise anything important!! Hopefully all will come back normal and my body will finally get back to normal!

rusulka it is a little strange but not unheard of; my last AF was a little like this, i stopped bleeding on Sunday/Monday and was still having to wear a panty liner on the Wednesday/Thursday. It's obviously just taking a while to calm down!! As loulou said though, might be worth checking with your GP/nurse if you are really concerned about it!!

loulou i like the idea of the general 'summer-autumn-winter 2012' plane, apparently if my cycles are normal this month and i am successful, then i would still be in August but that depends on what ov calculator i use, some have me in September Confused

iloveberries · 10/11/2011 13:54

Liking the idea of treating ourselves - that's where i have got to to loulou - just making sure i really enjoy my life instead of feeling a bit down cause i am not PG. Of course if i am still not preggars in 6 months then i might feel more peed off!

I am out on friday with some close friends for dinner and then seeing my sis on sat which will be lovely :)

mooley and all you other TTCers - The positive of not getting a BFP this month is that september babies (in theory) have an easier time of it at school. Before i get flamed for saying that I am an august baby as is my DS and we have both never had any problems, and of course every child is different and there are sooo many other factors which go into it. However it is a fact that there are more children born in july and august who have learning challenges. Of course these are summountable and many summer babies will be fine but it's a little positive that i have in my head incase i don't fall this month again.... Also it means you get an extra year with your baby at home with you as kids go to school the sept after they're 4 so if you have an august baby they go to school when they just turn 4 and if you have a sept/oct baby they are almost a whole year older when they start.

iloveberries · 10/11/2011 13:56

p.s. by DS being an august baby i meant DSis!!!

MooleyWooleyShamaLamaDingDong · 10/11/2011 14:19

Grin the funniest thing has just happened that has made me guffaw at work!!! DH is off today and his parents decided to call around on their way to the Lakes. DH has just emailed me to say that "of course mum used the toilet - i have just been in there and what is on display!!!!!!! pre seed seriously fun baby making!"

Guess the cats out of the bag now!!! Grin

iloveberries · 10/11/2011 14:23

she might not have noticed what it was?????!!!! or was it ON display???

my folks know we are TTC but in laws don't and mother in law is forever digging for info. i want to tell her to shove off and mind her own business!

MooleyWooleyShamaLamaDingDong · 10/11/2011 14:51

I am not bothered that she might know, we get on famously!! And yes it is really hard not to notice it if you are sat on the loo as it is almost in the line of sight on the window sill directly next to the toilet!!! Grin still chuckling now!! She will be made up as well, as it will be their first grandchild (when it does eventually happen)

Things like this somehow make me feel more positive about the whole TTC malarkey; makes it more real and lighthearted!!

Have got hardly anything done today!!! Too busy thinking about TTC Grin

louloubellamozzarella · 10/11/2011 15:09

Ahhh I'm Blush for you moowoo hehe

I would also be mortified but in an amused kind of way. If you get on famously then that's fine - sure they will be made up :)

iloveberries · 10/11/2011 15:36

if i wasn't TTC i would have no idea what pre-seed was though.....

unless the packaging isn't very discreet....

ok, i just googled it, it's not discreet at all!!!

Rusulka · 10/11/2011 15:46

Berries my MiL is the same. She and FiL are divorced and she's living in Brazil with her BF (!), his children seem to be popping out babies left, right and centre, and her brother's son (father of 2 tiddlers) has just announced another on the way, which she keeps trying to talk to me about. Angry ARGH! Angry

Obvs she doesn't know about what happened in July, so it's frustrating not to be able to say anything when she keeps putting her foot in it.

Grrar.

Mooley my sister in law came over for a work chat with DH once (they work for same company in same branch) which they had in our room to spare me and her BF the boredom, and too late I realised I had a bottle of Durex O gel on my bedside table... Blush and a thermometer... Blush not sure if I'd bought the pre-seed by then, but...! So been there!

Also, if you peruse my bookcase carefully, there's a mothercare catalogue wedged in between some others... just in case... Blush Blush

festiemum · 10/11/2011 18:02

Lol at pre-seed mooley - glad you get on with your MIL!! :o

ilanthe - so sorry it's all been a bit messy for you lately. I'm glad it wasn't ectopic though; you really don't want to lose a tube on top of everything else. Warmest best wishes to you. Thanks

Rusulka I have afs like that - in fact the last one was, and I sullied both DH's undercarriage and the lovely crisp white sheets of the hotel we were staying in at the time! Blush

berries - I know what you mean about August babies, but I was an August baby (31st, in fact, latest of the late) and in my experience schools have some flexibility in terms of when they move kids up when they are little. I know studies suggest otherwise though. When I was teaching, I can't say I ever noticed a correlation between later birthdays and SEN, but obviously that's just anecdotal!

Anyway, think my body might be gearing up to ov again! Low temps still, and high soft cp, and back to creamy cm, so maybe as some of you thought, stresses have just delayed ov this month... We shall see, just need to muster up some energy for more SWI!!!!

iloveberries · 10/11/2011 19:52

yeah i think it's a bit like saying 'kids from single parent families do worse at school'..... it's just a headline grabber but there are soooo many factors at play that it's not really fair to say such things.

I suppose it's just something i am using to make myself feel better if it doesn't happen this month! feeling strangely positive though.... (famous last words!!) x

Glimpers · 10/11/2011 20:10

Evenin' All!
mooley classic Grin like an elderly relative finding your 'special back massager' Blush
loulou what a lovely idea. Not sure if I'm going to be able to manage a child free time but am going to make sure I set aside some time to paint my nails, do a face mask, etc.
Well AF should have shown her horrible wicked self today, but as yet, nadda! Frustrated as I'm normally like clockwork, so now getting pee'd off that my body is not doing what it should be Angry grrr!
Anyhoo, rant over and breathe
what's everyone up to tonight?

eggandtoastedsoldiers · 10/11/2011 20:45

Evening everyone. Glimpers I am watching boring old tv. There is really nothing on tonight. DH is off a friends birthday and I'm enjoying my hot cocoa and sweatpants tonight.

I feel bad that I have him on a no-alcohol regime, I mean he will have a few tonight but its been the same 11 month stretch of me on pre-nat vitamins and him not allowed to drink. Feel so silly because if you would of asked me last Jan I would have never thought that I still be TTCing.

Is there such a thing as taking pre-nat vitamins for too long?

Glimpers · 10/11/2011 20:53

Hmm good question egg I wouldn't have thought so ( cos obviously I'm highly qualified to make that statement Grin NOT!) as surely the vits are just keeping your levels up, not like taking painkillers where your body can get used/ immune to them? But hey, who am I to guess?! Hopefully someone with a lot more knowledge than me will help Grin
I am sat in my joggers watching brilliant trashy tv and drinking warm milk and eating Biscuit Bliss!
Managed to get loads of chores done tonight too so feeling really smug Smile

Ilanthe · 10/11/2011 21:12

Another August baby here and the youngest in the year, being born on the 27th. I was fine, academically, but struggled socially (although the academic stuff didn't help the social stuff, iyswim). We'll be into September at least now but I would have been happy to have an August baby.

If this does turn into summer / autumn / winter 2012 thread I'll be back, but I hope none of you are here because you're all pregnant. Grin

eggandtoastedsoldiers · 10/11/2011 21:19

I think my main fear is .... being ready to pop in july heat. Just leave me in a kiddy pool in the back garden

MooleyWooleyShamaLamaDingDong · 11/11/2011 07:02

Morning all!! Still no smiley face which I thought there would be plus that was my last OPK!! Have not had time to get any!! Looks like its going to be another long cycle though as should be gearing up to ov tomorrow but no surge :(

Had the most amazing SWI last night though and weirdly DH's love juices did not escape despite the fact I had to leap up straight after because dinner was in the oven (we decided to get a quicky in :)) that has never happened before, there is always some leakage!! Not sure what to think!!

How is everyone else? Grin

eggandtoastedsoldiers · 11/11/2011 07:46

Morning Mooley Nothing like a quickie before dinner :)

My back is still killing me but determined to get a bit of SWI tonight, even though I am now d21. Oh I really hope this month is my month but part of me really doesnt want to get worked up. I always get emotional now days around my af and then feel so down because she comes.

I am going to try to not test til the day my af is due, I really dont want do this to myself again like the past four months where I have always tested 2 or 3 times before my af.. I mean amazon does some cheap POAS' but its not doing me any favors

louloubellamozzarella · 11/11/2011 09:42

Hi all and happy Friday :)

Anyone have anything nice on this weekend? I'm sooo excited to have nothing on for once (well apart from DP taking me shopping (this never happens!) and seeing some friends :))

Sounds like you've all been having lovely wintery evenings - nowt better than TV and a hot choc!

No symptoms really here - apart from tight abdomen and peeing quite a lot - altho that could be because I've been drinking a lot of water. I'm feeling really happy with TTC at the moment which is good - have learnt to let go a bit and not get stressed out with waiting and SS.

I think allowing myself to have the odd extra coffee and glass of wine was a good idea as it's not making me think about TTC as much (I would highly recommend this approach - I call it the wine method Wink)

moowoo when do you get the results of your blood test? Hopefully that'll give you more info to go on as it looks like the ov sticks aren't much use :(

Oh and egg I don't think you need to worry about taking vits for too long - they aren't stored in your body - the important thing is that you keep taking them so that they have the desired effect on your body and its functions. As long as you don't take too many at a time you should be fine.

Bluetinkerbell · 11/11/2011 09:43

hi all!

my fertile period is supposed to start today :) so lots of swi-ing coming up!
Does anyone of you use Fertility Friend? My free VIP membership is about to run out just after my ov-date, shall I buy like a 3 month package or not?

mrsg2011 · 11/11/2011 09:57

Hi everyone...I'm ashamed to say I have been a notorious lurker on here. I didn't want to jinx any potential BFP by actually posting on here.

I've just had my BFP! Second line is a bit fainter but definitely visible (first response early response). This is cycle 3 for me and I've had a 28 day, a 35 ray and a 50 day cycle before this one so had no idea when I collated. I used clearblue OPK this month and I guess it's worked!

Just needed to tell someone as my husband is at work....can't wait to pick him up tonight and tell him the good news :-)
