Welcome across Rat Smackers! Glad you found the place okay. This is THE MONTH when we get those deceitful pee sticks to own up to the BLINDINGLY OBVIOUS - we are all already preggers! After all; positive people get positive pee sticks!

I hope you all like what I've done with our new home

You'll note the updated title, courtesy of farfalla. Various healthy snacks have been set out on the coffee tables, to ensure our bumps are receiving the appropriate nutritional balance

Also, my personal favourite adjustment, you'll note the strategically positioned peephole, right here, providing us with a sneaky preview of the utopian delights awaiting us in the NO BROOKING vomitorium ante-natal thread.

So let's get to it preggos! Remember: see a rat - smack it!

I'm here dream - how much are you still breastfeeding? I think you said DD was about 10 months old, so presumably she is throwing eating solid food as well? I'm no expert, but I think that means you should be ovulating/able to conceive again. I do remember from when I was breatsfeeding my DD that the advice was to use contraception if you didn't want to get preggers.

I would suggest using the ov sticks, but they are not my friends, so I can't really recommend them.

I suppose my conclusion is to just keep SWI as you cannot fail to get your BFP this month now that you're here. Ooh and you did say you had one normal cycle last month didn't you, so I'm sure that means you are ready.

havealittlefaithbaby · 31/07/2011 20:45

I'm here too! Watching Top Gear ..did you see them I'm Lincoln? Jeremy Clarkson broke down in front of the church where I got married!
dream obviously no symptoms is a symptom in itself! It's just the bf confusing you!

dreamfeeder · 31/07/2011 20:46

only twice a day usually, and sometimes in night (but have had blissfull 2 weeks of sleeping through!!!). She is eating solid food, but sometimes refuses most of it, so I feel reassured she's getting some calories via bf, plus i just like feeding her! I'd always assumed it was easy enough to get pg while feeding, it's only since not getting pg for a few months i'd looked into it and it seems sometimes if you're bf, the prolactin just keeps your hormonal axis off kilter enough to stop you ovulating- stops oestrogen getting high enough to trigger ov. I then assumed if I'd had af- which I have now, twice, i was immediately fertile again. On googling/ ttc while bf forum some people are saying you can have an oestrogen surge but not high enough to trigger ov, then have a bleed, but still be havin annovulatory cycles. Hence my confusion Hmm

Still, this month, rat will have been smacked, i need to calm down and put the chocolate DOWN!!!

GenericDietCola · 31/07/2011 20:53

Have I'm watching Top Gear - Lincoln is beautiful - we recently visited it on the way back from hols in Lincs.

Oh dream it sounds more complicated than I realised, but if you're only feeding twice a day, I would have thought you are fine. I do know of people who have conceived while breastfeeding, although I don't know the details. Great that she is now sleeping through! It's fab when that happens! Stay positive; remember our mantra POSITIVE PEOPLE GET POSITIVE PEESTICKS

Evenin All

DH and I managed to DTD yesterday and will be again shortly. Is that TMI? I'm at the critical point in the book I'm reading so I'm hoping it will just be a quickie. As I will be lying with my legs up against the headboard afterwards I shall not be asleep for a while, so hoping I will get the opportunity to finish said book.

In other news DS had made it clear he does not like babies. Especially babies that Mummy holds. (Have visited 2 friends with newborns this weekend. Surely that increases my chances of getting preggo?)

havealittlefaithbaby · 31/07/2011 22:40

Good work on the swi scarlet! Nb legs on the air isn't really necessary, the good swimmers will find their way regardless. The duffers should not receive any help, you don't want them finding your golden egg. Get to.and pee after to reduce the risk of a uti! (Sorry preachy not over!).
The reaction of ds and timing will of course lead to your bfp this month. Yoy are pregnant!
Do tell, which book? I love a good read, me.

scarletfingernail · 31/07/2011 22:47

Have The book is called "No Time For Goodbye" by Lynwood Barclay. It's a thriller/mystery about a teenage girl who wakes one morning to find her parents and brother missing from the house they live in. Fast forward to her adult life, she's still trying to find out what happened to them and strange things have started to happen around her.

Thanks for the legs down advice. I hadn't considered this and of course it makes total sense. DH will be pleased, he'll get to sleep quicker without my shuffling about trying to make it more comfortable.

GenericDietCola · 01/08/2011 08:52

Morning all, happy August! Remember This is The Month!

Scarlet book sounds good and thanks have for the advice. I have never done the legs in the air thing, but sometimes wonder if I should. Crazy really, because people in the olden days wouldn't have gone to all this effort and most of them had large families. Ho hum.

Biscuitsandtea · 01/08/2011 09:46

Come on Preggos

I am sure more were supposed to be testing over the weekend? Where have you all skulked off to?

What do we want? Positive Pee Sticks
When do we want them? NOW

dreamfeeder · 01/08/2011 09:52

Morning rat smackers!

This is indeed The Month. All negativity is dispelled this morning. I AM ovulating, through will power alone if nothing else. If that rat isn't smacked, it blooming will be in the next few days.

I always lie on my back for a bit with a pillow under my hips...just in case it helps. I think it's just pyschological. I feel like it increases my chances, sure there is no evidence base whatsoever!! Good opportunity to read a book for a bit too Smile. I just finished The Memory of Love (Aminatta F- something) which was really good and couldn't put it down.

Where's ninja? shouldn't she be confirming today?

Biscuitsandtea · 01/08/2011 10:00

I always used to lie on my back with my hips on a pillow for a while too, again though not sure it really helped. Like you say Dream - just psychological. I also think there might be quite a lot of sense in what Have says about those that are going to make it not needing the help. Also, I never did anything like that the first 2 times I got pregnant - this was more a desperate measure of more recent months Blush

dreamfeeder · 01/08/2011 10:03

morning biscuits!

Hope you're blooming, you're certainly looking radiant this morning. Any bad symtpoms? Here's hoping not

Biscuitsandtea · 01/08/2011 10:06

Not really any symptoms as yet. But queasy if I haven't eaten for a while but so far so good.

Time is dragging though - not even 6 weeks yet. That BFP seems like MONTHS ago not 1 week!

scarletfingernail · 01/08/2011 10:12

CD 15 and still not ovulating. At least that's what my CBFM tells me. I am thinking positively however, I just know it will happen in the next 2-3 days so I have been seeking out rats and making sure they are well and truly smacked.

Biscuits great to hear you are feeling good. Have you shared your news with anyone over the weekend?

NinjaChipmunk · 01/08/2011 10:32

Right, morning ladies. Just a quick one from me as so far as haven't had time to catch up on the thread since begining of the weekend and Real Life keeps getting in the way of my MNing. No real news to report here. After today I am Officially Late for my meeting with Auntie Flo. I do hope that putting it in writing does not jinx it. I have been feeling crampy on and off in an af-y kind of way since Thursday. Evil witch was due sat/ sun. If she stays away till the morning I shall be testing then. Have had a lovely weekend of drinking booze and being in the sun, even the outlaws were well behaved (except when they bought ds one of those vuvuzela things which is awful but he loves). I hope when I manage to catch up there will be a lovely bouquet of bfp's!

dreamfeeder · 01/08/2011 10:33

goodness biscuits, it really does seem longer than a week since your BFP! i was all perky up til 6 weeks at my lack of symptoms. and then the vomiting started..... and you're right, ninja was not expecting AF this weekend but she seems to be awol.

scarlett, we shall FIND those rats and smack them. Also no sign of ov for me on cd 17. (nb, i asked DH yesterday and he confirms he has never been able to hit a rat in that silly game- and neither have i. He reckons you need to visualise the rat in free-fall without the tube and whack when you think it needs whacking. THAT is exactly my theory for getting knocked up this month!!!)

dreamfeeder · 01/08/2011 10:34

and anyway maybe says not everyone gets egg white cm and all those signs so who knows what's going on!!! keep up the rat hunting Smile

Biscuitsandtea · 01/08/2011 10:45

Ninja look forward to confirmation tomorrow Smile

I have never had the whole EWCM thing and have DS to prove it us possible to make a baybeeeeee without it Smile

Scarlet not taking ANYONE until after the scan if we can help it. My mum knows by accident and my friend in the middle of IVF but other than that, you lot should feel honoured Grin

NinjaChipmunk · 01/08/2011 10:49

was your friend doing the ivf ok with the news?

DizzyKipper · 01/08/2011 10:49

Hi all, I've been recommended to join this thread. I've been a bit distanced lately from the whole obsession/symptom spotting thing after a MC 2 months ago. Another failed cycle again for me this month but AF should be on her way out soon and I feel it's about time to get down to business again and really make it happen this month! So step 1, get pregnant. Step 2, hang onto the bloomin' thing!

As I am absolutely, definitely going to get pregnant this month I've started calculating how pregnant I will be by the time it's OH's birthday. It's in December so I'm hoping to give him the best surprise ever and take him away for a ski weekend (as I say this I know it's a bit of a pipe dream as we're always too broke to do anything, but still, got to have hopes!)

[friendly waves to the group]

GenericDietCola · 01/08/2011 10:51

Ninja nice to see you - glad your weekend was good and hurrah re the non-arrival of af. Can't wait to read of your BFP tomorrow!

Biscuits is it really only a week? Wow! Have you been to doctor yet etc? I have been lurking on the ante-natal thread and saw you were wondering about an early scan. You may be able to get an early one with the NHS if you mention your previous mc and anxiety re this. I've had 2 mmcs and my gp has already said that if when I get pregnant again she will request an 8 wk scan.

Scarlet you're doing the right thing - those rats can be sneaky buggers so keep smacking even if you can't see 'em.

Dream same goes for you.

GenericDietCola · 01/08/2011 10:52

Hi Dizzy glad you made it!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 01/08/2011 10:52

Hi all!

I'm afraid I've been curled up in a corner for a bit this weekend, licking my wounds and mentally re-grouping. However today is cd 4, which means the SWI'ing can commence! I'm all fired up again and ready to SMACK that RAT!!

This early on it's just security shagging Grin the first month of ttc we missed ov altogether because it was earlier than expected, so now I like to stick to the official doc advice of every couple of days throughout the cycle, with a little extra when I'm expecting that eggy! Ov is usually day 10 for me, so expecting to be laying this weekend!

(TMI warning...)
As for ewcm, previously I didn't think I had any fertile cm at all, until I read on another thread that guaifenesin (cough medicine) helps to "loosen" your cm and makes it easier for the little swimmers to get through. I don't know if it works for everyone, but for me I found that as soon as I started taking it I had LOADS of clear cm at just the right time. I think it was always there, it was just too thick before. I take it all day (in accordance with the instructions on the bottle!) for three or four days right around ov.

Oh, and I only found out last cycle that antihistamines totally dry up cm! So if you have hayfever, and you take antihistamines to stop your nose constantly running (like mine!) then it also dries up all your cm. Soooooo annoying!

Fingers crossed for Ninja tomorrow! Can't wait for your good news, you will be the first since Biscuits! (I agree, it does seem like Biscuits has been confirmed for AGES - clearly it's because your radiant pregnancy was obvious from so early on! You are blooming beautifully Grin )

Also, how is Maybe getting on? I hope your body stops messing you around soon. You need to explain the NO BROOKING ethos to AF, and make sure she gets the message!

As for everyone else - good luck with the rat smacking!! Can't wait until your synchronised BFPs roll in!!

dreamfeeder · 01/08/2011 10:52

lol, i crossed posts with you before ninja, glad to hear you're still in the running for a bfp tmw Grin

biscuits, your scan will be along soon enough, you can book in for it from 10-12 weeks- they keep that quiet sometimes but i had mine at 10 (well was meant to but an awful diarrhoea and vomitting bug meant i couldn't go, on top of my 'normal' vomming.... was so worried- and it all meant I got SO THIN in my last first trimester!!! was tightening my belt by 2 holes at 12 weeks... all fine with DD though). you're prob right not to tell anyone. I would if i feel as bad as last time, but thats also because i know i'd be so gutted with a mc that i'd end up telling people anyway as they'd wonder what was up. and only tell select friends not the world and his brother anyway.

and hurray for no EWCM, that means i can now happily convince myself the rat is already smacked on pure numbers alone Grin

GenericDietCola · 01/08/2011 10:53

Well, not glad exactly (you know what I mean) but it's nice to have your company. Sorry again about the mc. Glad to hear you have a positive attitude because THIS MONTH IS YOUR MONTH!
