The end of July is drawing near; SWI with DP hasn't been as frequent as hoped; and I've decided to err on the side of caution.

So. Here's a thread for anyone else hoping to make a beautiful May 2012 baby.

I am 27 and TTC #1. Been on pill for an age so unsure of cycles. Only been trying for a couple of weeks - the more I type the more I note my wild optimism!!

Anyone else who knows more about this business than I do? Please come and give me some hope that a May baby might be at all possible :)

I have spent the day on google again instead of unpacking boxes. Dush.

However I have found out that I most likely keep getting BFNs because despite was it says on the tin, at AF-5 hCG would still only be visible in a blood test. For POAS I'll have to wait until at least Sunday (AF-2) and even then, only 25% will get a positive.

What was the point of getting 10mIU/ml tests? Dammit, I want to know NOW but at least there's still hope for a potential bun.

I would also like to state that I am categorically against baby dust or any form of sparkly ickle (ugh) wishes of whatever. Makes me want to vom.

Re: baby dust being crusty spunk- LMAOYSST. :o

Astroness......Can we be a spaceship?

missuswife · 05/08/2011 01:01

Hi ladies,

I posted elsewhere on MN but just thought I'd join the May Baby Zeppelin (buses are so dreary). I'm 31, and we're TTC our first child. I just stopped taking the pill two weeks ago after thirteen years. I got a twinge on Tuesday this week so I checked the ovulation chart thingy and it said I am indeed supposed to be ovulating right now. I had very regular 28 cycles before going on the pill so hopefully that is still the case.

We're being pretty relaxed about TTC, but it would be exciting if it happened soon.

The1andOnly · 05/08/2011 02:07

Sorry guys! My AF is due 25th august. Smile

Tibbycat · 05/08/2011 06:48

Anyone here overweight and ttc? Had s real meany on another thread who kindly pointed I wasn't just overweight...I'm obese with a bmi of 33....thanks to them for pointing that out and then 'wishing me luck'! Sad !

missuswife · 05/08/2011 06:59

I'm overweight too but the practice nurse at my new GP surgery was way less stressed about it than I expected. I just found out I'm hypothyroid, after trying to slim for a year and only getting bigger and bigger. I've decided to just eat small portions of healthy foods and not worry too much. I also read a quote that's been inspiring me, "eat for the body you want, not the body you have." That has helped a lot when making choices. But mostly I'm just trying to eat nutritiously and not get any bigger.

Haters just wanna hate, don't waste your energy on them.

festiemum · 05/08/2011 07:52

Gah, I'm overweight too... Think my BMI's in the early 30s too - it is, as missuswife says, just about making sensible food choices when ttc and not going mad 'eating for two' when pg! (Something I've always failed at, natch!)

As for passive-aggressive shit from others. Well, fuck 'em; that kind of comment's always more about their hang ups than you! It's not as if you're in the 'needs a mobility scooter to get about' category!! :) :) :)

AstroNess · 05/08/2011 07:54

puzzle alt & 3 on a mac will get you a %23

pillow spaceship? Maybe. Or perhaps a tank because we are all on a mission to get preggo?

AstroNess · 05/08/2011 07:55

Now I understand why hashed don't show on some people's posts. It's if you do them on an iPhone...

desperateoldie67 · 05/08/2011 09:07

I have a BMI over 35 and I'm still ttc. Bugger everyone else I say (well, not literally, obviously!). I'm eating healthily, quitting smoking and doing some gentle exercise (it's been a good few years since I could exercise due to double knee surgery - I used to be a runner, and slim :() and taking all my vitamins etc. This weekend is hopefully the SWI weekend judging by the temps I've been taking. I'm due to ovulate today, and I poas this morning and there was a faint line which I would expect to be fully there later, so look out gorgeous toyboy, here I come! :o

Rusulka · 05/08/2011 09:15

tibbycat missuswife and festiemum I'm in the overweight and ttc club too. But my BMI is more like 41. Hope that makes you feel a bit better!

I've always been overweight, but my sister is quite a skinny minny without being too skinny and she still weighs 11st, so that makes me feel a bit better (I'm 16st something).

I think the trouble with BMI is it doesn't account for weight distribution. If I chopped my boobs off, I'm sure I'd lose 2st easy! Most of it's on my bum and legs anyway. also my arms. I don't think having fat arms would cause problems in pregnancy. Problems in vests, maybe...

I used to watch Misbehaving Mums to Be with a horrified fascination to see what they did to the overweight ones. Mostly put them on diets and made them exercise.

I like the idea of us all being on a baby Zeppelin. We're pretty much going over other people's heads now with all our mucus examination and temperature charting, so our mode of transport might as well reflect that.

MammaInTheMaking · 05/08/2011 09:25

Hi notnow :) AF didn't arrive yesterday and she's not here yet today either. Am trying to really keep it together and manage my expectations... If she's not here by Sunday i'll test but i'm really going to hold off until then.

Had lots of symptoms but i don't know if that's just me playing tricks on myself because i'm looking out and analysing every weird sensation!

DP has said i'm sleeping very strangely atm, lots of fidgeting and chatting. The other night i woke up with my head at the other end of the bed!!!!!!!!!! Just shows how worked up i'm getting about it all.

Yikes!

notnowImreading · 05/08/2011 09:26

I've just worked out my bmi for the first time and am quite pleased - bit on the chub side for a bikini but ok for babies. I reckon if I went to Hollywood they'd make me lose 4 stone but for England I'm fine. I'm not just bragging - it's one of the few up-sides of never having had kids yet and one paltry thing to feel ok about in the baby desert. How about a camel train as mode of transport?

notnowImreading · 05/08/2011 09:27

Ooh Mama! That sounds hopeful... I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Very
Much admiring the restraint in not testing till Sunday.

MammaInTheMaking · 05/08/2011 09:34

it's bl**dy hard but i kinda want AF to tell me if it's game over rather than the test.

Thanks for checking in on me :)

desperateoldie67 · 05/08/2011 09:52

I know just how you feel Mama. It's hard to poas and get a BFN :(

Fingers crossed x

notnowImreading · 05/08/2011 09:55

Not only grrr but also expensive! Mother nature = slower but cheaper.

Kveta · 05/08/2011 10:10

hiya, I'm another overweight but TTC-er. not sure of my weight, but am size 18, and most def could do with losing a few stone. I only gained 15 lbs in my last pregnancy, but as DS was 9 lbs, and the placenta was massive, I lost it immediately (which was one bonus of morning sickness for 20 weeks! I actually lost weight in 1st trimester!).

sadly breastfeeding cake allowance has let me slowly gain weight over the past 2 years, but I'm def eating more sensibly - and now we have a kitchen again (woo!) I can start cooking proper meals again. and baking, but hopefully morning sickness will prevent too much of that in the early days :o

I'm not planning on taking vitamins until I actually get a +ve test - last time I didn't until I was 6 weeks + (because I was living overseas and didn't have a car, so it took me a while to find the time to get the bus to a shop where I could get vitamins! it was a bit of a saga!)! However, I have got some sainsbos mum and bump vitamins in the drawer with my pg tests so I can take one immediately I get the +ve!

Rusulka · 05/08/2011 10:40

My mother-in-law's boyfriend's daughter in law has just had a baby and they keep posting inane videos on facebook, while they all talk in portuguese.

I think they're doing it to spite me Just wanted to share that.

Quenelle · 05/08/2011 10:42

Morning all. Hi new people Smile

MammaInTheMaking this all sounds very promising. I'm exactly the same re testing. I would rather find out from AF than the words 'not pregnant' on a pg test - too, too harsh. That's very funny, you waking up upside down in the bed Grin

I started Boots Conception Plus on Tuesday and this morning I noticed that my wee is bright greeny-yellow - very pretty!

I'm estimating that Operation KUMQUAT will swing into action on Sunday night. Preseed = check; grapefruit juice = check; DH ready and willing = check Grin

And the first mode of transport I thought of was a yacht. I have a vision of us all reclining gorgeously on the deck in our bikinis, long blonde hair swooshing about in the breeze, and a huge Manjo at the helm wearing a peaked cap.

desperateoldie67 · 05/08/2011 10:49

Hahahaha Quenelle the same has happened to me since taking Pregnacare Conception plus or whatever the devil it's called! Kind of makes me wonder if I'm just peeing it out and don't actually need the extra B vitamins - I think it's those that turn your wee yellow/green. It's not very fetching, but it would be worse if you teemed it with having eaten asparagus! OK...TMI...I'll get me coat :o

Good luck with Operation KUMQUAT. Could you explain the grapefruit juice? I have a feeling I missed that lesson somewhere along the line LOL!

Kveta · 05/08/2011 11:07

almost definitely b vitamins - riboflavin (B2) is really yellow - it stains everything if you make the mistake of spilling a solution of it on your lab book (which of course I have never done . it's very water soluble too, so will be peed straight out :o It's like those mega doses of vit c (the 1000 mg ones) - they just give you very high vitamin c concentrations in your pee! you can only absorb a certain amount a day (think it's in the 50-60 mg range, but can't remember), so the rest of it goes straight out! my old boss said that those vit c tablets just gave you expensive urine :o

will there be somewhere darkened below deck on the yacht Quenelle? I don't really do sunshine exposure very well, and definitely not bikinis! I'd need to be kept hidden with lots of books :o

MammaInTheMaking · 05/08/2011 11:20

It was the strangest thing...woke up and was like "where's the flippin window gone, AND WHY IS DP'S FOOT IN MY FACE!!!"

Feel like if I keep my legs crossed even tighter then AF will def not come!! Haha.

Loving the yacht idea, but I'm gona be joining the other ladies in the shade! Otherwise I'll be as red as this little face Angry !!

Kveta · 05/08/2011 11:35

Mamma - I once woke DH up because I was having a very convincing dream that I was a woodpecker - and the noise of my head battering against the wall woke him :o I had such a bloody awful headache after that too. I was on new medication at the time, which was my only excuse!

sorry, that is totally irrelevant, but it still makes DH laugh :o

Harryan · 05/08/2011 13:08

Morning Ladies :)
My AF is due on August the 25th....Be lush if it never came....we shall see ;)
