Let's make some May babies

The end of July is drawing near; SWI with DP hasn't been as frequent as hoped; and I've decided to err on the side of caution.

So. Here's a thread for anyone else hoping to make a beautiful May 2012 baby.

I am 27 and TTC #1. Been on pill for an age so unsure of cycles. Only been trying for a couple of weeks - the more I type the more I note my wild optimism!!

Anyone else who knows more about this business than I do? Please come and give me some hope that a May baby might be at all possible :)

Heh, it is ironic how it all changes once you are actively TTC rather than TNTC. Remember terrifying waits when condoms broke and nasty morning after pills in my youth! Now actually getting updiffed seems so bloody tenuous!!

Thanks Catsy, that's the way I look at it; it's not as if I'm asking him to climb a mountain (he used to do that when he was younger and fitter!) and isn't it supposed to be enjoyable?!! Confused

Notnow, if your Dr's right, then that's about what we've been managing since AF f**ked off..... To be fair, I did say that's what we would do - thrice weekly shagging, and not worrying about cycles etc. DP doesn't know I'm copping a crafty look at me juices in the loo! Blush

btw notnow; as far as I understand it; if it's the right time of the month. E.g. cervix soft and open; ewcm etc; the chaps will happily make it through the cervix and hang out in womb, tubes etc waiting for the unsuspecting egg!! I too heard about the bicycling legs thing; Catsy - ex MIL swore it worked for her!!! :o

Hello All on Mumsnet, I am new today on here and was keen to talk to people in a similar position. Great to talk to my husband but I don't think he worries like I do! I'm dreaming of a May baby. Perfect time I think! We are on the cusp of TTC and yesterday I had my copper coil removed. Incidentally, for anyone about to have one removed, it didn't hurt at all and I felt it was quite uncomfortable fitting it 3 years ago. I was mega worried about it all day yesterday!

Since the time it's been fitted my cycle has been like clockwork and I seem to have all the signs of ovulating. Anyway, my period was due to start yesterday and the doctor pointed out it was about to start when she was mid-removing the coil. She explained that the removal was likely to bring on the start of the period. However, quite the opposite has happened! My period hasn't started and any signs of it started have diminished....really worried now. Can the removal of just a copper coil mess us your cycle?

Also, since November I have gained 2.5 stones (not ideal I know, incredibly stressful job which I seem to find myself eating my way through crisis's :))! I'm worried that perhaps as I'm now overweight coincidentally I'm stopping ovulating.

Can anyone else share similar experiences?

Quenelle · 04/08/2011 12:32

Morning all.

I'm sure I have read about some cuplike thing that some women use to keep the 'essence' up there.

Hang on, I'm off to google...

Quenelle · 04/08/2011 12:39

Aha! Here it is!

Rusulka · 04/08/2011 13:29

catsycat and notnow, another one I've heard of is resting your arse on a stack of pillows to assist gravity. Just how many pillows is one expected to have in the house for this to work?!

Also I'd like to put forward a possibility for male equivalent of fanjo- what about a manjo? Any good?

mildertduck · 04/08/2011 13:32

Ooh I've seen those before when I bought my mooncup. I had heard they were quite difficult to insert though... still, owt's worth a go! Except possibly the chicken egg-white thing in TCOYF - I don't think I could look my girls in the face if I did that.

When I was an impressionable teen I read a story in Sugar or something about how a girl got pregnant without even having PiV sex because, they assumed, somehow her and her boyfriend got pre-ejaculate a bit too near her nethers. I was subsequently terrified of the hose monster (thanks, Glee!) and its amazing powers of impregnation.

I still can't decide if the story was true or not... maybe he had super-duper ninja sperm.

mildertduck · 04/08/2011 13:36

And while I'm pondering these things... what the bloody hell is this 'babydust' that I keep seeing on Netmums and the like? Because it sounds like dried crusty spunk to me and I'm really not sure that that would be helpful to anyone.

Manjo! Grin

Hi and welcome HeidiHole, Clandy, LadyGrace and Tibbycat. Cor, there's quite a crowd of us in this bus shelter now isn't there? We'll all have to schooch up to stay dry in this weather.

Sorry Tibby, no experience re coil removal or weight gain, although isn't weight loss more likely to result in periods stopping?

I confess I stuck a pillow under my bum for 5 minutes after SWI last time I was TTC. I also didn't go for a run the day after, in case stuff got jiggled out quicker (that was DH's idea so I wasn't the only one making daft suggestions).

Right, so no wishing each other babydust on here then. May I just say to you all then that I hope all your spunk is wet and not crusty for as long as you all need it.

puzzletree · 04/08/2011 14:55

Haha, this thread is so funny. Glad you've all got a sense of humour!
Really looking forward for this period to be over so I can get on with sign-spotting, and calculating the best opportunities to jump on DP. In the past we've been able to conceive quite easily by just having sex a lot when I felt up for it- guess this co-incided with fertile time. So will probably go with that approach again, but with a bit of added knowledge :)

I also agree with you all that it's unfortunate that we are so fertile when we're young, but i suppose that's just nature's way of propagating the human race. Shame humans mentally tend to grow up so slowly!

Harryan · 04/08/2011 15:03

Hello! :) Am I too late to join?? Blush
Am 30 and started ttc#3 beginning of this month! :)
Had a miscarraige last year after a surprise pg....Since realised We really want a 3rd and final babby :)

Catsycat · 04/08/2011 16:37

Rusulka Enjoying "Manjo". Will definitely be adopting that one...

Quenelle I stand corrected on the idea of the cup to keep the product in. You learn something new every day. But I still don't think it would work.

Am now thinking of starting the Dukan Diet as I just weighed myself and I am far fatter than I thought.

Sooo pleased we're not wishing baby dust on each other on here. It freaks me out, though I suppose it's well meant! (Still laugh at it though).

Quenelle · 04/08/2011 17:22

Catsycat I have this nightmare vision of residual Preseed causing the Softcup to slide out of its own accord at an inopportune moment. (As if there is an opportune moment Grin)

Hi Harryan Sorry about your MC. Good luck with #3.

Mama5isalive · 04/08/2011 18:09

hello - im getting on this bus - (my DH dropped me at the busvstop so jumping on the first bus that came along!
Waving to faces i know!!!!!!!! puzzletree & Catsycat!!!!!)

ok before i go mad how long after your af has gone are you most fertile!!!!Blush!!!
im so confused never watched it like this before but now my DH has given me the go get pregnant look, i really want it to happen now had a MMC in June and my af came on the 27th July 5 days!!!!
what to do now!!!!!!!

HeidiHole · 04/08/2011 18:45

haha this thread is so funny! I've had my legs up and DH laughed like a drain until I showed him that the NHS or BBC or some other gov't site actually RECOMMENDED it for TTC

got bored after a bit tho and went to sleep. It didn't work anyway :D

I agree with whoever said about the not realising how 'hard' it was to conceive. I was taught I swear that if a Manjo even comes close to you, that's it - there'll be twins growing inside you before you can blink.

Now I discover its only a few days a month and you've got to obsess work out which days they are!

At the moment i'm just waiting... waiting.. waiting for my period to arrive after implant removal 4 weeks ago so I can get started properly. Not that we haven't been practicing the last 4 weeks just in case

HeidiHole · 04/08/2011 18:47

Mama5 I believe it depends on your cycle length but your most fertile days are normally somewhere roughly about CD 12-15 if CD1 is the first day of bleeding.

Someone may correct me though. Different for everyone anyway...

Catsycat · 04/08/2011 18:50

Hi mama5 nice to see you! You're most fertile round the time you ovulate, so if you don't want to chart, it is round when you have the EWCM appear, or when your cervix feels soft (I have NEVER managed to find my cervix - I keep it up near my tonsils somewhere)! Lovely!! The average is 14 days after AF starts, on a 28 day cycle, but can vary from person to person.

Quenelle as long as it doesn't go pinging across the room.... Grin

puzzletree · 04/08/2011 19:05

hello mama5!
there's a little ovulation calculator thing over there ---> which you can use to predict when you'll be most fertile.

CosmicMouse · 04/08/2011 19:40

I'm still here and SWI. My body is playing tricks on me and suggesting I might be ovulating sooner than normal. So we've started the SWI early just in case. The things we have to do eh! Grin

I'm all pre-seeded up, and it was our first cycle using pre-seed that we fell pregnant with DD...so I'm feeling hopeful!

Feels like ages since I began this cycle but I'm only on CD12 or so Envy Aaages til testing.
