Have a think about the amazon cheapy ov sticks Lugsie. I've never used a CBFM but the amazon ones are just a little stick where a dark line means you are ovulating. I think they are waaayyyy cheaper than the CBFM. I used them and was getting a bit miffed when all were negative. Then one day a bright dark red line came up and i knew we 'were on' so to speak. Loads of SWI that weekend and bingo bango! Got BFP first month of trying.

Lugsie · 16/02/2012 11:42

Thanks mamma - I just had a quick look and they're around a fiver for a 30-pack, not bad for a month's worth! AF is due in 4 days, if it shows up then I will order the ov sticks and see how we get on with them - we've got to the point where swi and hoping for the best alone doesn't seem to be working!

Thanks again and hope you are well Smile

ImpatientOne · 16/02/2012 14:21

mamma & lugsie I tried the OPKs from Amazon but didn't work for me (I think my wee is too dilute and was getting stomach pains not drinking/holding!) so the CBFM works better as it's FMU.

My monitor was less than £60 on Amazon and sticks are around £10 - £20 per month so not a cheap option but much less frustration than constantly negative OPKs! There are loads of CBFMs on eBay - people selling when pg - but usually go for about £50 so not that much difference to Amazon!

Hopefully mine will be redundant soon and I'll happily pass it on if/when I'm pg Grin !!

HeartyBoom · 17/02/2012 16:23

Hi, can I jump in?

TTC number 2. On second cycle, think ovulation was around 11th Feb so in the old 2WW. No symptoms or signs so assuming this isn't our month. Having fun trying though :)

Congrats to all the BFP's I've seen so far.

ImpatientOne · 17/02/2012 17:47

Hi Hearty :) and welcome to the last legs of this thread! We will have to get a move on if we don't want to think of a new thread title!

There is a stats list which needs some update - I have added in what I could work out out from your post not a stalker honest so feel free to update, don't worry about my obsessive formatting Grin

HeartyBoom · 17/02/2012 21:04

Thanks for the welcome. :)

UCL - Assuming this means usual cycle length. We're a bit varied at the minute but averaging 26 days.

AF (Aunt Flo?) Due around the 22nd-26th. Came off the pill in Nov after 8 years. Settling down nicely but sometimes taken by surprise.

RedRobin36 · 17/02/2012 22:18

Thanks for replies RE ov pain girls..the reason i asked is because i had this strange achey pain in my lower left side on the 14th, which moved down after a few hours to my lower groin, and then i felt this pressure feeling down below (almost like a needed a poo from my other bits..in the nicest way! haha!) then when DF and i were SWI'ing later that night it felt really uncomfortable when he was..ahem..going in deep, sorry girls tmi overhaul there! Poor Hearty i haven't even said hi and she knows all about my bodily functions!

Hi Hearty :) i do apologise!

So then the next day my boobs started to feel sore and cm less eggwhitey..which is what happens straight after i've ovulated so maybe it was ov, which is about 5 days earlier than normal..but i've never had it feel like that before, strange!

Anyway less about me :) Lugsie i have used cheapy ov sticks from wilkinsons and they worked for me too, really dark lines. (very exciting Wink)Theres no harm in experimenting with some cheapies..plus poas daily..bonus! Your 2ww has come around quickly, have you got any symptoms?

Loving the 'not a stalker honest' impatient that made me laugh!

ImpatientOne · 17/02/2012 22:31

Thanks Hearty now able to satisfy a little more OCD - having a rockin Friday night as you can see!! Hmm

Robin Your description of pains and other things sounds very familiar but I hadn't thought it was O pain as it was too late for ovulation but now I have found out that I am ovulating late I am a bit reassured. I have been to GP & seen a consultant about this pain so am a little Blush now that in all likelihood it is ovulation pain!

RedRobin36 · 17/02/2012 22:42

Oh i'm glad that you've had something similar impatient i thought i was going a bit nuts hoping that it was ovulation when it was probably something completely different! What did the consultant say?..hehee well atleast you were sensible getting it checked Wink I thought i'd felt ov pain before but just like a small ache in whichever side, never a really noticable ache like this was!

I too am having a completely rockin' friday night! DF has just gone to work, i'm browsing wedding sites and i've even got TOWIE on..Blush

ImpatientOne · 17/02/2012 22:56

Well I had an ultrasound but there wasn't anything 'remarkable' - I find that a stupid phrase Hmm so I saw a consultant who talked it all through. She offered to do laproscopy (sp) to rule out endometriosis but as I am ttc recommended waiting 6 months or so as the op would interfere with ttc.

This was all a few months after I came off the pill so the pain was so alien to me having not ovulated for many years! I'm really glad now I didn't rush into the op.

I cannot imagine looking at wedding websites & ttc ones all at once - that's hardcore!!! I couldn't even talk about weddings for months after ours as I was so overloaded with it! And I put twice as much effort into the honeymoon planning than the wedding Grin

RedRobin36 · 17/02/2012 23:24

I agree that is a stupid phrase! i often see ladies on here describing what the docs had told them and they always use words that are vague or have no paticular meaning..as if its not frustrating enough! Atleast you were all fine and it probs is ov pain..isn't it strange how some people can really feel it and others don't (or maybe its 'cos us ttc'ers are paying extra attention Wink)

I know i do feel a bit hardcore! haha, and don't tell the bride has just come on..ahhh! I can imagine..i haven't even started yet and i can see how stressful its going to be lol, plus im soo picky! Ooh where did you go on your honeymoon?? I have a bad phobia of planes :( so i need to be cured before-hand!!

Oh dear!! I don't know how that happened.. Sorry ladies! Anyone know where the delete button is?!

ImpatientOne · 20/02/2012 09:09

Hi Robin and good morning everyone.

Not killed the thread Robin - at least not for me! I've been away this weekend and try not spend too much time attached to my phone when I finally get DH out of the house!!!

As you asked we went to Florida for our honeymoon and the only thing I would change about our whole wedding and honeymoon would be to have worried less about the wedding and had a longer honeymoon! I was very organised with both and had numerous spreadsheets running Grin as I wanted to keep to a strict budget so that we could splash out on the things we really wanted. Although I say that I wouldn't change anything I do sometimes think that we should have taken my Dad's advice and eloped - at least we'd be able to afford double glazing now Hmm I'm such a romantic!

I am currently addicted to fertility friend - never used it before but started this month and been very reassured that it has confirmed ovulation - as obviously I was worrying that I wasn't ovulating! Am 5dpo now but expecting to start spotting very soon as my AF is actually due on Thurs - willing it to stay away!!!

Any other news????

RedRobin36 · 20/02/2012 10:35

Morning impatientand everyone else!

Aw I loved florida, I went when I was much younger before I was too scared to fly! I'd love to go again, what kind of thing did you do when you were there?

Spreadsheets! Now that is organised :o good idea though, I'm going to leave lots of time for planning so I don't get too stressed (I say that now! Lol)
Double glazing compared to your perfect wedding..I'd do the same!! Wink

Oh we are pretty much in exactly the same place seen as I ovulated much earlier this month..I'm 6dpo I think..so fingerscrossed for the both of us!
Are you due this thursday? If I remember correctly you ovulated later than normal so maybe it wouldn't show til later?
Naughty me for asking so early but any symptoms? I've just got normal sore bigger boobs, and a sore throat today n a headache due to my sinuses..think I'm getting the lurgie that the rest of my family have had!

ImpatientOne · 20/02/2012 15:33

Yes Robin I'm due on Friday but always have pre AF spotting so would expect that from Weds/Thurs - which means I have a ridiculously short LP. Am trying not to think about that although whilst wasting time googling I found a website that said if you have a short LP because of low progesterone then you will miscarry even if you get a BFP :( I am very stubborn though and have taken it as a challenge, hoping the extra B vits are doing some work...

I am obviously not symptom spotting and I am also a liar but... I have had sore boobs since O'ing and the cramps went away for a couple of days but I am getting the odd sharp pain and dull ache down there. I think most of it is in my mind but because I know that we got the timing right this month it's hard not to get excited.

We chose Florida as we didn't want a beach holiday and the travel agents were all trying to flog honeymoons in jungles that year - not what I was planning! We stayed in a luxury hotel and did all the theme park stuff, chilled by the pool and ate at some amazing restaurants. I didn't really find the wedding planning stressful but I have a very laid back family so we knew that no-one would question our choices - not everyone has that oppurtunity. We had some complications to consider - DH's family all abroad, different languages, my mum's variable health but it worked out ok :) We had 2 years from getting engaged to the wedding and I did most of it in the last 8 months although big things like venue, church, photographer, singer and hairdresser were done just over a year in advance. I asked married people what they remembered from their wedding and which bits were important. If they couldn't remember then I deemed it not important and to be honest most people recalled very little so I decided not to stress as if it doesn't matter in 5 years it doesn't matter now! I am glad I went with that philosophy and didn't blow a fortune on silly things like chair covers Grin

RedRobin36 · 20/02/2012 18:16

Oh I see!! I'm sure it will work out that you're just on a longer cycle, you and I have gone the opposite way to each other and met in the middle, I know they talk about cycles synchronising when you live together..what about when you're on a MN thread together? Haha!

Yay for your sharp pain and dull ache! Oh and sore boobs! Are they normally sore from ov? That's how I can tell I've ov'd because mine go sore straight away..Hope your b-vits work wonders! Let us know any more symptoms..not that we're spotting Wink, have got everything crossed for you!

As for me, obv just like you completely forgetting about it this month. Hmm..I had a bad period like pain in my lower back that woke me up in the middle of the night a couple of nights ago (maybe I was dreaming) and I've needed to wee a lot today whereas I can usually go without one all day. But I've had that before in the 2ww so not really counting that..promise. The only other thing is I can't do my jeans up Blush

Thankyou for the wedding advice..I hadn't really thought about asking others what they remembered, it makes sense! My family are also very laid back and will love the day whether its in a shed or a palace! (Or a church, which is where it actually will be!) Nearly all our families live in wales so that's a problem we won't come across thankfully, another plus is that my mil does beautiful flowers for weddings..Yipee!

Essay over!

ImpatientOne · 20/02/2012 21:14

Yay I'm liking the syncing of cycles idea Grin I am also struggling with shrinking clothing which must be sign and not because I've ignored weight watchers for a month

As much as I enjoying our love in Robin do you think there is anyone else still out there

Lugsie · 21/02/2012 00:47

I'm still here! Grin

Welcome hearty!

Bit of a late night for me catching up on some work from home but thought I'd take a break and check in with you ladies Smile

Loving the wedding chat! When are you planning on getting married robin? impatient I was stressed in the run up to mine too but now I love talking weddings and would do it all again in a heartbeat!

Also loving the symptom spotting - not long now till you both find out!

Bad news here is af arrived Sad Not really that shocked though to be honest as we didn't have chance to get much swi in this month and I'm sure we missed our 'window'. This month I plan on starting with opks and seeing how I get on with them. Hopefully I will be able to check when I am definitely ovulating and see if I've been getting it completely wrong all along!

Stats update...

Lugsie · 21/02/2012 00:52

Oh and I just had a play with the due date calculator (I'm a bit sad like that! Blush) - if I get pg on this cycle the baby would be due end of Nov, or end of Dec if I got lucky next cycle. So two more attempts at a 2012 baby!!

ImpatientOne · 21/02/2012 07:24

Sorry about AF Lugsie but good news that you have more chances for 2012 Wink

freedom2011 · 21/02/2012 08:14

ah shit Lugsie sorry about AF. Fingers crossed for next cycle.
I am in my window of opportunity this week so trying to make the most of it. Maybe too personal a question but does anyone manage to SWI every day of their window. I manage 3 max but maybe it is not enough?

ImpatientOne · 21/02/2012 08:23

No we don't freedom ! After getting thrush early on from too much SWI Blush we had to tone it down... A couple of doctors have told me that 2-3 times per week, every week (obviously if you don't know when you O) is fine. We're also using a baby friendly lubricant - not preseed or anything though.

Now I have the CBFM it's easier to concentrate on the important times and according to FF we managed a 'High' rating this cycle as DTD on 4 of the 5 most fertile days
