Anyone using Persona to Conceive this month ?

That's it really. I'm CD 6, having red days, planning my BD-ing & wandering if anyone else is in the same boat as me...?

I'm happy with the accuracy of Persona at the moment as I can feel when I ovulate and therefore know the machine if giving me the egg sign on the right days. However I have a friend who was using it as contraception and she got pg within 3 years. Although another friend used it for 10 years and didn't get accidently pg.

It is probably right to use it as a general guide. I personally think it is better to use Persona as a contraceptive machine rather than trying to concieve with it, but I am keeping going with it as we ttc, as surely having some idea of when you ovulate is better than having no idea. Contradicting myself really aren't I!

I'm just joining this thread for the first time, recently I've been using an ovulation microscope (lick and look for ferny patterns)and not seeing much in terms of ferns, even though I'm on CD 16... and was wondering whether it is worthwhile getting a Persona too? are many of you using both? also, have people bought theirs from Ebay - does this work out OK? thanks for any advice and good luck to all for a happy outcome this month

It was the clearblue one, you had to pee on a stick, certain days to see if it was the best time to conceive, it took 1 month, it was really good, ds2 cme along then.

Hi All,
CD35 for me. Slight signs of AF but not in full flow.
Af arrived on day 27 last month so gone doolally again.
I used a saliva monitor but didn't get any results in the first month. Started using persona and the saliva monitor started giving the same results. This month was a weird one though with no egg from persona and lots of posative days on the saliva monitor.
I got my Persona on ebay for £18 incl postage.

Haven't got much to add still haven't checked Persona since egg signs but i think that AF is due at the weekend no symptoms of anything so we shall see.

Hi Jag,

Fingers crossed for you this month.

AF arrived properly this morning.
I'm off to see the doctor later about my funny cycles and the potting before my AF. Have other symptoms too so I called NHS direct yesterday and was told to get the next available appt with GP.
I'm nervous and worried now.
Have to be there at 11.50 so will update you later.

Well after a visit to the doctor I am furious.
His sollution to my 'spotting' problem was to go on the pill!!!
Of course I said no. He now wants to do an internal once current AF has finished. He said as I'm due for a smear test in April he will do it at the same time as the internal next week. What a treat for me !!!!! Now I have a whole week to get worked up about it.
I can see how the pill will regulate my cycle but I can't imagine it will stop the painfull intercourse (another symptom I've developed in last few months) and it certainly won't help my chances of conceiving.
Sorry I'm ranting now, I'm so annoyed.

Sorry that your GP appointment didn't go very well. Did you tell him you were ttc, how silly of him to suggest the pill if you did. Can you go to see a nurse instead. I sometimes find them more helpful at our surgery.

As for me AF arrived this morn . I've pressed the button on Persona but i'm thinking about giving the tests a miss this month. For the last 5/6ish month i having been using i get my egg sign about the same time & i haven't missed any eggs. Before that the opks showed the same time cd12/13/14. AF arriving about 14 days later so i seem to have a regular cycle. I think that i am just getting caught up with it all too much.

Hopefully we will both have better luck this month

Sorry to hear of AF Jag123, got mine today also feeling really fed up and very stupid, had really convinced myself this was the month, felt symptomatic and allsorts!! It's becoming soul destroying month after month, sorry to whinge I know we are all in the same boat - think I may be too obsessed with it all but can't switch off my head! I may also give persona a miss this month, egg symbols have been predicatable for the last few months.......until day 6 arrives and then I will be racing to chemist!! Good luck to everyone trying

Sorry about your AF too . Looks like we all have similar cycles. I did the same thing last month. I even told my mom i thought i was then spent the whole weekend in tears & feeling stupid.

Sorry SS and Jag, very frustrating.
I feel I need to concentrate on finding out what's up with me, if anything is, before thinking anymore about baby number 4.
I feel depressed at the thought that it could be fibroids. I seem to have alot of the symptoms. My mum went down this route too and ended up with a hysterectomy at 38. I'm thinking of the worst case scenario and getting very emotional. That's why I want my GP to sort out what is wrong asap. It didn't seem to register with him when I said I wanted another baby.
I'll see the nicer doctor at the surgery if I get too down about it.

Lots of luck to everyone for March.

Don't worry Trace, I got my first egg sign on day 20 in my first month. I don't think Ov is exactly 14 days before next AF for everyone. Mine seems to be more like 10 or 11 days before no matter how long my cycle is.

Are you peeing on the stick or in a pot? A pot seems to work better as you have more control over how 'wet' it gets. This can effect the results.

hi 3catstoo peeing in a pot, i find its better, i know, but had blood tests, they say am not ovulating, but gp says carry on with persona, because some months i may ovulate, so keeping my fingers crossed, that i do some months

Hiya all, yes a word on the sticks, I rang the persona helpline and they say if your collecting in a pot you have to time it for 15 seconds (exactly!) - now stand with mobile phone timer doing it to the second and have had egg symbols ever since - initially missed 2 - obviously they say you don't ovulate every month anyway so it figures you may not always be getting eggs. Feeling slightly brighter today following onset of AF yesterday, resolved to maybe try the Fertell test next month to check out our fertility - anyone have any experience of this?? Or advice?? me 35 dh 47 and no kids yet, ttc 8 months, my cycle is very regular just beginning to wonder if there are problems with either of us though? need to know but also scared to find out too, keep thinking it will just happen soon enough, how long do you wait when your 35??

also, gp says if your 35 or over, and been trying for 6months, you should have tests done, so go to your gp, keep us imformed

Well I went to see GP again today. I saw the good one this time. He did an internal and a cervical smear. He said internally all seemed in order but on examining my tummy he said that my uterus was enlarged which could indicate fibroids. He is referring me to a gynacologist. Hopefully I won't have to wait too long.
At least the wheels are in motion and I'm not being told to go on the pill.

CD 7 for me so will see next week if I get an egg this month.

Trace2 - Sorry to hear about no egg sign. Hopefully it might just be this month.

3catstoo - I'm glad you got some better responses from the other doc. I hope that if there is anything that it isn't too serious & can be easily dealt with. I don't know anything about fibroids.

I have kept to what i have said & not ordered anymore sticks for this month. so i am going to just go with the flow.
