Oh 13+1 already Nix!! Wow! I'm 8 weeks today. Currently sitting at my desk chowing down on salt and vinegar crips - have been craving vinegar like mad - could drink it fro the bottle!

hairyfairylights · 31/01/2011 17:21

Hurray for pink and mamap :)

am all spotty and have BO. Are they symptoms? Confused

Emoo · 31/01/2011 17:29

Well done pink and mamap Grin

When do people reckon is the best time for a scan, in an ideal world? Am planning to see gp later this week and hopefully get referred to epau. Problem is, last period was not normal, lasted 3 weeks, so if they go by that date I might get scanned too early and then panic. Last time I mc'd at nearly 9 w after losing symptoms at 7ish. Was thinking of requesting scan at 7 weeks (using chart ov date, but in previous experience gps just ignore charts and go with period).

Sending love too all and hope everyone is keeping zen!

Emoo · 31/01/2011 17:32

hairy spots could be symptom, not sure about bo!!!

DachshundsWantPuppies · 31/01/2011 18:12

mamap glad it went well, good luck for the rescan! :)

I couldn't wait until my 7+4 scan so I've booked a scan for 6+1. What are the chances of bean having a heartbeat?

Blood taken today, results tomorrow. Wish I was 13 weeks nix!

hope everhone else is doing ok

Moo said to me hairy, find a spot on the wall and focus on it, or cover your eyes until they say babys fine, hearts beating :) it's hideous x

nickstermum · 31/01/2011 18:28

Dachs it's felt like it's taken a century to get here from conception. And now it's here it seems like it's flown! Fx everything Is fine with your twin beans :) and that my bean continues to grow :) xx

nickstermum · 31/01/2011 18:32

Potential twin beans..... :)

PinkIsACheeseAddict · 31/01/2011 18:49

emoo not sure as too early and you risk not being able to see as much as you hoped, but you don't want to mental too long!! dacha I'm 6w+0 today but the dr made me promise I wouldn't freak if there's no heartbeat as he says a day either way makes a big difference.
mamap that is fantastic news-I think I ov'ed before you this cycle so I think everything stacks up. Are you relieved?
One of my colleagues knows and he's been freaking me out about how travelling on the train is dangerous and that I should get out of all the meeting I've got booked that involve a train journey..... I can't find anything about it on google so have texted dr-he is going to get so pissed off with my random texts.....
nix owly and any other further along people-how the hell are you managing a day's work? I am so tired I could pass out in the middle of the afternoon and am worried that being out the house travelling or in the office from 7:30 to 7:30 is dangerous for my micro bean. Any thoughts??

PrettyVacant1 · 31/01/2011 18:50

Twin beans?
Who?
Eh.... Dachs

Got to get off train now....
I needs answers! Grin

Wombat33 · 31/01/2011 18:56

Ooh thanks for the crisps and pickles ladies! Grin

Keeping everything crossed for those with scan s coming up xxx Tis all sooo nerve wracking! What I didn't realise when I had mine last week was that the bean is so small that they can 'see' the sac without being deep enough to 'see' the bean iyswim? So they started the scan and she found my uterus, pressed a bit harder and the sac appeared as this huge empty black sppace and both DH and I thought "S~*t!" and then she pressed a bit harder still and there, hiding away at the back was a grainy blob. But if I breathed or spoke the movement of my muscles would make it disappear from the screen for a feww seconds. It probably only took her about 15 seconds to find it but it felt like an absolute eternity and never having had a scan that showed anything other than nothing before, I was pretty terrified! Now counting down the day until the next one on 7 Feb (week today - eek!!).

Also got a call from MW today arranging booking in appointment on 19 Feb. Still can't believe I'll ever get that far!

Dachs 6+1 will be boarderline for heartbeat won't it? I.e. you might see it but it wouldn't mean there's anything wrong if you don't?

nickstermum · 31/01/2011 19:07

Pv that's my fault re twin beans!! Dacha had 2 embies put back in... Potential twin beans I should have said!!

nickstermum · 31/01/2011 19:10

Pink I don't think it's dangerous, you just have to make sure you catch up on rest. Relax on train, have chill out time. They need to do a health and safety meet with you further down the line, but if you are worried take the odd day off. I work pretty long hours and drive distances also, plus Ds wakes me through the night... It's not dangerous foe bean cos bean takes from mummy what it needs, and it's mummy that suffers!!! X

PinkIsACheeseAddict · 31/01/2011 19:12

dachs have you got your first Hcg results back yet? What's the number? If it's big nix might have psychic powers!!

wombat it's weird they didnt do dildo cam for you-think you get a much better picture that way.

hairyfairylights · 31/01/2011 19:15

I just checked my diary ... Last time they saw no heartbeat at five plus six but did see it at seven plus six.

So as ling as they see an egg sack that'll be ok at six weeks.

I will be staring at the wall though.

Wombat33 · 31/01/2011 19:21

Pink - they said they'd give the external one a go first and if they couldn't see anything then they'd do the dildo cam, but they could see HB and take measurements with the abdominal one so I think they decided there was no need to put me through an internal - I wasn't too disappointed about that!

When it comes to trying to identify abnormalities I might suggest an internal if it's still clearer even at that stage (not sure it is once you get a certain number of weeks in??) but at the moment it was really just a question of is there anything there or not.

OOH I hope it is twins for Dachs that would be so exciting!

DachshundsWantPuppies · 31/01/2011 19:24

pink i get the results tomorrow, so I have no idea yet! although I'd love twin dachshies!

pretty don't get excited - - they put two back in but there's no reason to think they both took...

I guess I'll know more at the scan

wombie I know 6 is borderline for a heartbeat but at least I'll be able to see whether there is anything growing inside the sac and if I don't see a heartbeat then at least I've only got about a week to wait for the scan after that.

OP posts:
Mamapower · 31/01/2011 21:10

Pink relieved but be happier when I see a bean with heartbeat

Dachs twins woud be ace Grin let us know when the results are in

Hairy you'll be fine, honestly, muser told me I may not see anything but a sac and I didn't so I didn't panic...

wombat top tip, drink plenty of water and don't pee prior to the scan. fill your bladder as much as you can take... it pushes up as it fills so they can get a clearer picture.

nix 13 weeks... I can't wait to be in your shoes... every day seems like a week at this stage!

emoo if you want to def see a heart beat, I would go for 7+ as it vary's greatly from bean to bean and a day can make a huge difference in that week. That said, if you are menatlling, perhaps go for one at 6+ and if no heartbeat at that point request one 7 - 10 days later.

waves to hk preeeeety owl lady and lemon

Wombat33 · 31/01/2011 21:12

A week's not too long so it'll be good to have the reassurance of the early scan. How are you feeling? Do you feel like there's two in there?! Wink

Wombat33 · 31/01/2011 21:18

Thanks mamap I will do for the next one. I didn't this time because their letter specifically said a full bladder was not needed and it was likely to be an internal scan Hmm I guess maybe they're just very confident they've got good machines at the private clinic?

DachshundsWantPuppies · 31/01/2011 21:33

i don't feel like there's anything in there, let alone 2!

OP posts:
owlbooty · 31/01/2011 22:03

I never had the tiredness, Pink , but then I am a lazy-arse who couldn't do a 7-7 day anyway Grin You do need to look after yourself though or you'll end up exhausted. At least if you're on the train you can chill out with a good book whilst you're travelling - much better than a long drive.

I kept my eyes shut at the scan until the dr said 'there's the heartbeat' - thankfully she said it almost immediately, no messing around. That was at 9 + 4 though.

Tis very exciting that there are so many of you joining our ranks :)

Ladybee · 31/01/2011 23:26

So pleased to see news off two good scans today.

All the reading I've done about scans says that at six weeks the fetal pole is visible and grows about 1mm a day and that's basically how they date - so at 6+1 you are looking to see something 1-2 mm long, 7 weeks would be 7-8mm, 8 weeks 1.4-1.5cm. Heartbeat should be visible by the time it reaches 8mm, but can be seen earlier depending on position, equipment, technician. That is all based on a 'normal' cycle ov at day 14.

hairy spots yes, bo is actually probably increased sensitivity to smell - soon most of the world will appear to have it too. But I find Mitchum generally pretty good to stop me hating being around myself.

pink train travel? Why? Have never heard that one - is he pulling your leg in v bad taste? long hours are hard with the tiredness but not nec dangerous - your body will channel all the pregnancy needs to it at the detriment to you, but if you can eat reasonably, drink enough liquid etc you should be fine. Hard though, I find disappearing for 5 mins into an obscure toilet and closing eyes can help with the afternoon sag.

For internal scans a full bladder seems to cause a problem - shadows or refection or something. I've quite often been told to go pee when I didn't think I needed to because harder was preventing sonog to see something.
