hi, this is probably a weee bit early for some ppl, but im waiting til end of this month to ttc (the desperation, brooding over other peoples babies and feeling jealous of pregnant women , thinking of names and waiting 2 symptom spot kicks in)
so come along and join the journey to motherhood!

OP posts:
arabella36 · 19/12/2010 19:15

Only 3 more days til you can test!!!!!

broodycoilsout · 19/12/2010 19:26

Really? Ru talking about me? How exciting!! Dont feel it like 2nd time round bt same symptoms as 1st time. Expect im just getting my hopes up bt only time will tell! How long til every1 else can test? Any symptom spotting?

Tamashii · 19/12/2010 19:38

Hey broodycoilsout

I too am feeling like you but I have given in and tested 4 days in a row now Xmas Blush and ALL BFN. Not even a faint hold it up to the light line or anything. I have decided I must have had a stomach bug and that AF is due imminently since all my PG symptoms could also be AF sypmtoms.

The wiped out tiredness is a difficult one to explain tho... Fingers well n truly x'd for you (and me and EVERYONE else on the bus)

Sigh. I am getting a bit down now cos I just know AF will make it's appearance very soon and I can't help but hear the ticking clock loud and clear. Getting despondent now but I know next month after AF ends I will have the OPK back out...

Trying to be upbeat about it all, at least if/when AF DOES appear, I will be able to have a glass of red or two on Xmas Day! And a couple of Apple Sourz :) Mmmmm....

Still as many have said it aint over til it's over. (Aaaaah Lenny Kravitz.... J'Adore!) Anyway, best of luck.

Tamashii · 19/12/2010 19:46

chocolatebuttontheif You will probably be told it is best to wait until at least the date AF is due before you test but couple of ladies I know have had BFP on the sensitive tests couple of days before AF due date...

This is purely IME tho. I personally would love to be able to hold off until AF is due but I know it's impossible (for me anyway!) hence my previous post! I would save so much money if I could just wait until AF date or even wait to see if AF is late!

Sorry - that was so unhelpful wasn't it...

chocolatebuttontheif · 19/12/2010 19:47

I've also been feeling exhausted today, but I think I'm getting a cold so that may explain it. I also seem to have more CM than usual (sorry, tmi!) but i don't know if that has any relevance to anything!

chocolatebuttontheif · 19/12/2010 19:53

It wasn't unhelpful, I just wanted to know realistically. I know some of the manufacturers say up to 6 days early but I guess they're encouraging obsessiveness and cashing in on it!

I know I probably have stupid questions for someone who already has a DC but I wasn't obsessive last time, probably why it took nearly 2 years. I really don't want to wait that long again, otherwise DS will be 5 and I never wanted them that far apart.

Tamashii · 19/12/2010 19:53

Actually, can I retract my last message!!!
I just found this whilst not obsessing Xmas Hmm

"What about early results tests, though, the ones that promise results three or four days before your missed period?

It?s important to know that these tests assume a 14-day luteal phase. (That?s the time between ovulation and when you get your period.) If your luteal phase is usually 12 days, four days before your missed period would be 9 days after ovulation. Way too early to test"

My usual LP is only 11-12 days so I doubt I would get an early BFP anyway! What a waste of HPT's!!! I never knew this before (although I don't know if it's true-am just quoting from a website...)

I think I have read the CM thing can be a symptom too... I guess the only way to really find out is wait a few more days eh? Difficult as it will be :(

Tamashii · 19/12/2010 19:59

I know what you mean. I got PG with DS when I was 31 and I never thought it would take that long. I actually thought it would never happen so when I had him I was happy enough just to have one. Then DP started on about how nice it would be to have another and I started to realise it's now or never for us really as it might take ages to conceive again (if ever) so that's what's making me obsess.

I have short luteal phase and vitamin B12 deficiency which seems to make things less likely but that's nothing compared to what some of the ladies on here have to go through so I am so so thankful for DS.

Anyway, I don't know where that all came from! I guess I am just gearing myself up for another BFN on Tuesday. I'm just gonna wait until AF is actually due now (meaning I will only have NOT tested on one day!!!) and I am sure I have actually just totally lied so will test again tomorrow morning just in case....

ARGH! Come on BFP's!!!

mslk · 19/12/2010 21:20

Sorry AF got you MrsHende

Not sure chocolatebuttontheif some people don't get a BFP until well after their AF is due, where as some do before. That wasn't much help was it?! Sorry

louby86 · 19/12/2010 21:32

Hey everyone! Just wanted to join your thread. We're ttc our 1st and I came off the mini pill about 3 weeks ago. I'm trying to hold off until the end of the month to do a test as I've had a few random symptoms - cramping a couple of weeks ago and then i've had reddy/brown cm (sorry tmi) the last 2 days which stopped today....

arabella36 · 19/12/2010 21:37

Hi Broody, yes I was indeed talking to you re the testing, you know based on the first response (6 days before period is due test.) As PPs have pointed out it doesn't always pick up pregnancy 6 days before but it can do (I think in 60-something % of cases).

Expensive habit I know!

Anyway good luck to all!

CMD83 · 20/12/2010 08:53
Confused tested this morning and saw a VERY faint line about 20 mins after i done the test?? I have had some symptoms such as just feeling! also had a kinda heavy feeling low down. Someone slap me with a big fish! AF not due till fri.
tutormummy · 20/12/2010 09:34

CMD83 that sounds promising! Fingers crossed for you - I would go out and stock up on some more hpts ... In case you're snowed in...!!

Well today is the day that my AF could have been due but just got a BFN - but my periods are so irregular, I might not even have OVd yet. It's all pretty frustrating... And knackering!

Symptom spotting as usual; crampy, needing to wee a lot... But it's all irrelevant isn't it if I just got my bfn...

Bfn was on an Internet cheapie though... Do you think its worth me going out to get a proper hpt? It's not Ike I can wait til AF is due as i don't know when that will be - but equally this could turn into an expensive habit!

arabella36 · 20/12/2010 13:42

CMD, what type of test did you use? And good luck!

Tutor, I've been thinking of buying cheaper test from the internet, which ones would you recommend?

EnglishCountryGirl · 20/12/2010 13:49

AF got me this morning, but based on my dates it looks like I am still on this bus! So going to get cosy and stay where I am for the moment.

CMD83 - That's fantastic news. Fingers crossed for you!! xx

It was a internet cheapie 10mil one.
Don't know if its a case of wishing to see a line IYKWIM?? tutor its not over till its over good luck!!

chocolatebuttontheif · 20/12/2010 14:39

CMD there was another thread on here the other day about basically what you have experienced. Everyone said it was probably just an evaporation line as the test results need to be read within 10 minutes. A few days later though the OP did indeed get a BFP!

Good luck, fingers crossed!

orestyemerrywombat · 20/12/2010 16:18

Hello everyone. Sorry, have been awol for a while - I don't manage to keep up withseveral threads and have been seeking solace from the lovely post-MC ladies. I'm now in the middle of my SWI-athon. Should be ov-ing tooday so just praying the snow dooesn't stop me getting home from work tonight! Xmas Grin

Hope everyone is doing well. Am going to read back through thread now :)

broodycoilsout · 20/12/2010 18:55

i have also read in several places, and i think also on leaflets that reading tests after stated time (e.g. 5 mins) is most likely an evaporation line, you should read the result at stated time (e.g. 2-3mins) then throw it away. i have done the same which is how i know this.
also, dont go 2 the complete craziness i found on countdown 2 pregnancy site, then checked out myself, of taking apart 1 of the 'plastic' tests e.g. clearblue, 1st response, as tehre is always a 2nd line hiding that doesnt show in teh results window-this is not a positive.

but....
you may have just tested too early, and are still just as likely 2 get a BFP!!!

CMD83 · 20/12/2010 19:38

Thanks for the reality talk broody It says not to read after 10 so I know i was being wishful, full on cramping tonight not normal pre af twinges, Help I always said I would stay sane whilst TTC!! it's only my bloody 3rd cycle, will need to be sectioned soon lol

arabella36 · 20/12/2010 19:59

What do you all think of this?
The first response tests specifically say you can use them at any time of the day in their leaflet. Do you think its still the case that its a lot more sensitive in the morning though?Confused

MrsHende · 20/12/2010 22:56

I agree with what someone said earlier, that the early response tests are capitalising on our obsessiveness!! SO hard to stay away from them though.

Arabella, I don't know any hard facts but common sense seems to me that they would be more sensitive in the morning??? Confused

Now, I know I said I was off the bus but realised that with my dates I'd still be on this bus so I'm jumping back on if you all don't mind!

MrsHende TTC#1 Cycle 10 UCL 25-39 AF Due Jan 19th (ish)

Tamashii · 21/12/2010 09:24

Well.... Today is the day AF is due so I am gearing myself up for her to swoop in like the evil witch she is these days and ruin my day.

I have been stressed out lately cos DS was meant to have hospital appt today but they've cancelled it so all that stressing for nothing and I think this might have delayed the onset of AF. I do have all the usual symptoms though so I doubt I am PG this month.

The main issue I have is that I have run out of HPT's since I peed on all the internet cheapie ones up to Saturday and they were all stark white BFN's. Maybe that is a good thing really cos I am just wasting them.

arabella I got my BFP with my DS on a First Response at about 2pm and it was full on 2 pink lines after a few seconds so I suppose they are pretty sensitive. It is likely to be more so in the morning though. I think I was about 18DPO though so not early.

Yes, whoever invented the early response tests were a marketing genius.

arabella36 · 21/12/2010 09:30

Thanks Tamashii and Mrs Hende. I've got period pains although AF hasn't arrived yet so Im not going to waste money using a test. Admirably restrained because I have one of those and 2 clear blue digitals in the house!
Am on CD27

Tamashii · 21/12/2010 11:01

Well arabella you are truly an inspiration if you have 3 HPT's in the house and you have yet to waste them!!! Maybe I should buy expensive ones so I am less likely to use them and actually wait to see if AF is late or not in future... I doubt I would resist though Xmas Blush
