Jethro Tull - 'A Christmas Song' - especially the very end!

Linnet · 01/12/2009 18:37

Thanks Borderslass, I wasn't sure if that was the title or not.

muminthecity · 01/12/2009 18:48

Definitely Fairytale of New York - I'm going to see The Pogues at the Brixton Academy in a couple of weeks, can't wait to hear them do that song live!

Also love Mariah's version of O Holy Night

RichardCranium · 01/12/2009 18:51

Thanks everyone.

Have started downloading.

NormaSknockers · 01/12/2009 19:21

Fairytale of New York - got to be my all time fav

It's Christmaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaas

KissingUnderTheMittsletoe · 01/12/2009 19:35

I saw The Pogues do Fairy Tale of NY when Kirsty Mcoll was still with us..it was brilliant.

The Waitresses' Christmas Wrapping does it for me as well though.

TaLcYspreadingTheLove · 01/12/2009 19:43

Fairytale of NY
Happy christmas (war is over)... Lennon
2000 miles... Pretenders

Tizzyjacko · 01/12/2009 19:54

The Pogues greatest hits is what I always play while cooking on Christmas Eve, beats Nine lessons and carols every time. For me thats christmas started

glasjam · 01/12/2009 20:04

Oh I LOVE The Waitresses Christmas Wrapping - I heard the intro in a shop the other day and was instantly beaming - love it - that jangly guitar sound is so joyful.

Also Greg Lake's "I Believe in Father Christmas" - a tad pompous but the sleigh bells are a winner.

And even though it is a bit cheesy, there's just something about Jonah Lewie's "Stop the Cavalry" - the brass band, Sally Army sound and yet again the sleigh bells.

nightingale452 · 01/12/2009 20:27

December will be Magic Again (Kate Bush) - just fabulous.

thegrandadwhostolechristmas · 01/12/2009 20:34

I have a soft spot for Elton John's Step Into Christmas.

More votes for:

Fairytale Of New York
The Power Of Love
I Believe In Father Christmas
Merry Xmas Everybody
I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday

hormonesnomore · 01/12/2009 20:36

I love all these AND S Club 7's Perfect Christmas

InmyheadIminParis · 01/12/2009 20:56

Bellissima - thank you. You're absolutely right! ...and I don't like either of them.

So anyone - what IS the Xmas song where the girl ends up going out for cranberry sauce and meets the guy she's been lusting after?

wukter · 01/12/2009 20:58

Very disappointed.
Started a thread on this very topic last night, went on to slay it myself.
Now I see this thread in discussions of the day!

AIBU to be deeply hurt, shocked and upset?

Anyway mine are : Fairytale of NY
and I adore the Frog Chorus.

MrsMattie · 01/12/2009 21:02

Let it Snow.

Love the hymns, too. Silent Night, Once in Royal David's city, O Little Town of Bethlehem particular favourites.

Adore this one - gives me goosebumps.

I'm an atheist, btw

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
Do They Know It's Christmas
