Thread 2 - the one where I try to get organised

[Reastie]

Hope I'm not tempting fate with that thread title
This is intended as a friendly, kind, safe, warm and fuzzy place for people to share discounts, bargains and Christmas gift ideas both online and IRL. Please note the tone and intention of the thread and join with spirit as generous as DC helping themselves to the Christmas chocolate celebrations .

Here’s some useful information about how to save the thread or a specific post so you don’t need to have a message to check in for every thread so you have the thread saved:

To watch the thread - click on the little bell that has ‘watch’ under my first message. This adds the whole thread to your ‘watched threads’

You can also bookmark a specific post by clicking on the ‘bookmark’ under the specific post. This saves your exact place in a thread but doesn’t alert you to new replies.

If you have any referral links or codes, please share them on the referral thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5577375-bargain-referrals-thread

A reminder that we don't use affiliated links on here please (I think that's the term, let me know if I got that wrong).

If there’s anything you think would be useful or good to include in this post then please do tag me and let me know here (or DM me).

You are all wonderful and I’m now going back to my mince pie and stollen (never too early!).

Thanks for the Ninja Thirsti bottle tip - I have adult DC (early 20’s) and their partners, so these are great!

Home Bargains have a Haribo advent calender. It is slight different from the one we got years ago at the official Haribo shop but also much cheaper. Honestly it’s just as good

@weareallqueens the Haribo calendar usually gets discounted at the shop at some point (they do different items discounted each week). I get dragged in there a lot so I’ll let you know if I see it reduced.

Good shout!

I bought this based on a recommendation in either thread 1 or a prequel thread - it came last week and it looks lovely :)

Yeah, I"m not a 1st time customer. I may need to use DH's or DS1's email!

I posted upthread about MND online website and their Christmas cards with free delivery. Ordered yesterday, Sunday and received an email at 10.10 today, Monday to say that my order has been despatched. Impressive.

MND is not my usual charity but I was impressed by an interview on TV yesterday given by a young MND sufferer while i was watching The Great North Run.

Five squid for the Galt magnetic lab on Amazon at the moment - and it’s in another version of the ‘save £10 when you buy £69 of qualifying items’ offer

The discussion on EB mum and dad mugs has got me thinking that would be a nice gift for my elderly presents this year. However, EB wouldn't be their style. Too heavy and too big, and they'd like a china mug. Does anyone have any ideas?

I need a small gift idea for a 12 year old who likes Harry Potter, crochet and cats! Don’t have a huge budget but want to get something thoughtful! Any recommendations?

I bought bone china mugs from Boundary Mill a couple of years ago for older relatives. Filled them with expensive truffles and gifted.

By the way there are a few Bruder vehicles in the £10 off £69 Amazon deal - if you have little construction/ vehicle heads to buy for Bruder is elite

Dumper

Forklift

Trash truck

there is also loads of Lego in the mix

QVC have the Simpli drink warmers on offer at the moment - 2 for £29.98. I already have 2, one in the lounge and one in the bedroom, and I've just purchased another set so that I can have one at work and gift one as a Christmas present.

I'm really fussy about how hot I like my drinks and these keep them really warm, much better than the pricey Ember one that I ended up returning. The set of 2 come individually boxed, and can be used with any mug, not just the ones included.

I've popped a £15 QVC refer a friend code on the referral thread if anyone is interested.

That's a point. It doesn't need to be EB just big & made in the UK - sustainability is very important to the recipient. I have seen loads of local pottery, but they're not big enough & some are £40 for a small mug.

I'm not sure how good you need to be at crochet for these - but I got my 36yr old niece the HP draught excluder one for her birthday and she loved it. It's a proper draught excluder size.

If you don't qualify for the usual Costco membership, they have an online only membership for £42 - which you would easily make back in savings

For quirky gifts take a look at Professor Prints I have just had a few stocking fillers from here and you get 50% off your first order if you sign up for marketing - although they do keep spamming your inbox . Also had a free gift as my order was over £25

What about the Cornishware ones then? You can select by size, they're gloriously stripey and they're made in the UK. Lots of colours to choose from too.

I love those, but sadly have no room in the cupboard for them!

In person shopping this morning and saw loads of toy deals on at Asda, I imagine they’re online too
but I also went to Poundland, they had crayola washimals sets for £3, good one for present box or stocking fillers, they also had a peppa pig puppet theatre that looked really sweet for £1 and I got a couple of crayola colour wonder sets for £3. I’ve never seen them as cheap, they’re rrp, often on sale for £5.

@ArthurChristmas22 Last year I bought Spode mugs for various elderly recipients, together with a matching little tray just big enough for a few biscuits or a sandwich. They had various patterns including William Morris, and were much talked about afterwards! I got them from their website, for a silly price - definitely less than £10 the pair, but I've seen them in a local department store too.
