All of our ornaments have a story which I love.

Some others would consider ugly but they’re meaningful to us.

My skiing avocado wins ugliest on our tree and was bought for me by my DD. Because I’m keto (eat a lot of avocado) and love skiing

Our entire tree is all about this kind of ornament. Current favs are: flamingo on scooter, glittery nawahl and glittery sprout (the last 2 from M&S)

ETA: tree topper is a rubber duck. But we also have glittery triceratops, T-rex with Christmas hat, Pickle, boxing kangaroo...

I got lost in a Jumbo once. The place was massive, DH and I thought we'd have to spend the night there. We managed to escape unscathed. The Christmas tat was, erm, interesting.

OMG, we have a Christmas squid, only my autistic daughter insists he has to hang in the dining too all year. She calls him Gibson..

Until now I didn’t know that I need a penicorn on my tree.

We don’t actually have the tree up yet so can‘t remember what inappropriate baubles we might own, but if I may extend the category to Christmas decs in general we have our crib scene patchwork family: the Jesus got lost at some point so Mary and Joseph have been reported to social services for child abandonment. I‘m pretty sure the guy currently pretending to be Joseph used to be a shepherd, but Mary is unfussed. Replacement Jesus is a tiny silver tree dec who is a lot more blingy than the original set. There’s a dodgy Christmas tree on one side that DC1 made in school craft lessons one year. And the nosy sheep have now been joined by a very confused deer and turtle from Guatemala.

Bet Lynch the aggressive-looking angel. I made her for my husband when I met him as his tree had no decorations. I thought I had been very clever with the fancy face embroidery. He just laughed. Anyway she has been on top of our tree ever since and is slowly looking more haggard. I gave her a glow up with tinsel last year. Strangely no one has asked me to make them one.

This is 'Demonic Santa' - I've had him years and he was my Nan's originally. He's a bit worse for wear but that adds to his charm 😄

I went to Tesco and bought a Penicorn. How could I not, they were reduced and he looks so happy. Not just because he's smiling. I think those dots are nostrils not eyes.

With him is an ornament I'm quite proud of. Solved two problems, what to do with a dinosaur red nose and what to do with those little woollen hats you used to get on Innocent smoothies.
