Dance Christmas GIF by Pure Radio

I'm hoping to buy a real one this year, (since I cant afford Balsam Hill 😪) so that will go up on Dec 1st

But I bought a cheap pencil one for the hallway which I plan to put up tomorrow, November 1st 🎄🥰

When's yours going up? 👀

Normally the first weekend in December. Too soon to do it in November imo. The

I do get the Christmas ick though and take it all down after boxing day

Without fail I put mine up every year the 1st Oct, but get fed up with it so take it down 1st November 🤪

Orrrrr I’ll put it up first Sunday of Advent and down 12th night. OP I don’t get why you put it up so early IF you take it down so early. Taking a Christmas tree down on Boxing Day sounds bonkers, it’s literally still Christmas then (unlike November!).

Just curious if its a decision of his not to have it up for his birthday? I only ask because I see this a lot and my birthday is December 18th and to me its not my birthday if its not Christmassy. I know mine is later in December and we put our tree up first weekend of December.

I'm wondering this too. My mum always insisted on putting our tree up between mine and my DB's birthdays, "to save arguments about putting it up on someone's birthday". She either didn't realise that this meant it was ALWAYS up for DB's birthday and NEVER for mine, or she did and just didn't care 😢

I aim for the first week in December. As a 70s kid I always used to watch out for Christmas trees appearing in people's front windows, it was a delight to see more and more of them. Especially as there weren't any outside fairy lights so trees proudly on show in living room windows was all you got. Our NDN put theirs up in the last week of November one year and we roundly mocked them, but inside we were really quite jealous! Grin

Normally do first weekend in December but we are away so going to do it on Nov 30th instead. We take down on New Year's Day

mondaytosunday · 01/11/2025 14:40

A few threads already in this do get confused if I’ve already posted! Ours is real and goes up first weekend in December, but as Dec 1 is a Monday my son took the day off and we’ll go get it then as waiting for the 6th seems late. It stays up til January 6, though I do kinda feel the Christmas season is over on New Years Day.

LeavesTrees · 04/11/2025 14:18

Ours is up - we put it up on the 1st of November. On a grim rainy day like it is here today, it just lifts the mood and makes it cosy.

We usually put it up when our towns Christmas lights are switched on (mid November), but brought it forward a bit this year.

Up first day of advent so 30th November this year

Down on the 7th after epiphany

Christmas is not just 1 day, I honestly don't know why some people even bother buying one then dragging it out to only have it up a few days or a week or so, seems like so much hassle for something they clearly don't like very much.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 05/11/2025 20:19

Still wanna put my small one up, maybe tomorrow or friday night (wild woman me)

I drove past the christmas tree farm thats sprung up near me - not long til I hopefully buy me and dd our first real tree (it'll be our main one)

The weekend before Christmas so it’ll be the 20th this year, it’ll stay up until Twelfth night though.

Mrsmch123 · 05/11/2025 20:59

The last weekend of November so we can do our 1st of December boxes that will let our 4 year old know we are going to Lapland to meet Santa 😊

We fly out the 14th and back on the 17th of December. Booked a lovely cabin in the woods and have Santa coming to the cabin.

Wreath making workshop booked for Friday 28th. DH and I have set aside Sunday 30th to put the decorations up.

Christingly · 06/11/2025 17:23

I currently have 7 trees up, most are small so they barely count! They all still need decorating. Non of them is my main tree though, I'll do that once the rest of the house is decorated. 😁

LizzyEm · 08/11/2025 14:08

Probably 29/30 Nov so it's all up for December

Weve got one up now, a pencil one

Hopefully we will have a main real one go up close to dec 1st to last until boxing day

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 08/11/2025 20:20

Never go up until after my birthday which is 30th Nov. I'd have them up FOR my birthday but my family finds it weird.

I LOVE my xmas decorations, so they'll stay up all Dec, but I would admit to finding them a bit sad once xmas has passed. There is so much build up to xmas that once the day is gone its just meh. And NYE is not a big thing, in fact, we rarely stay awake for the bells 🤣 so the tree is down pretty soon afterwards.

I usually have 4 trees, but will just do one big one this year as its a lot of work and we have less time than usual..

GlomOfNit · 08/11/2025 20:32

<eyes calendar> Yup, still November. No, I'm not even thinking about when I might be putting up the tree on November 8th. I thought there was some sort of unofficial moratorium on Christmas nonsense until after Remembrance Sunday but the tv ads have been wall-to-wall Christmas all week.

Nothing makes me more Scrooge than having to think about it in early November. We get a real tree and put it up about a week before Christmas and then take it down on the 5th. It stays novel, fresh and exciting (I lie. I cannot get excited about Christmas these days and haven't for years.) and doesn't drop too much. Sadly, these days we have to consider New Cats who will savage decorations, and DS2 who is very autistic and pisses about with the lights, etc. So 2 weeks is about as much as I can manage.

If you find yourself itching to take the tree down on Boxing Day and find it's making you feel a bit meh - then I would venture that you put it up far too early and are sick of the sight of it.

Pebbles16 · 08/11/2025 20:36

We always put ours up late - compared to others. 18th at the earliest ( a week before Christmas and stays up until Epiphany which is an important date in my DH's inherited religion). Real tree, usually recycled from the local school which gets ditched at break up - we may be overly frugal.
However...
This year I am disinclined to bother because DH is abroad until 23rd and we are spending Christmas apart due to painful logistics, illness etc.
DH would like to decorate festively but I genuinely don't see the point.
Love Christmas but to have a year off from it feels about right for where I am at the moment. I reserve the right to change my mind!!

AlwaysADramaHadEnough · 08/11/2025 20:42

Probably 28th Nov as we have festive events every weekend in Dec. The 28th I can do whilst the dcs are at school. Then they can do theirs after school. I usually do 3 trees but this year max 2 as hosting and need the space.

Starseeking · 08/11/2025 21:03

I usually buy and put our tree up 1 December, but as that’s a Monday this year I am going to buy the tree on Sunday 30 November, then my DC will likely be so excited we’ll end up doing it the same day!

Figgygal · 08/11/2025 21:17

Saw my first one through a window today
Even my kids thought it was ridiculously early
