I'm hoping to buy a real one this year, (since I cant afford Balsam Hill 😪) so that will go up on Dec 1st

But I bought a cheap pencil one for the hallway which I plan to put up tomorrow, November 1st 🎄🥰

Decorations... We've got a busy start to November but my business's first Christmas fair of the year is on the 21st so I want it up before then. Probably November 15th!

Christmas Eve is the absolute best day of the year - Christmas day is fine but I love the build up to Christmas so much more than the day itself! My tree comes down New Year's Eve. Love taking it down, shower, fresh PJs, entering the new year with everything clean and fresh and ready!

One thing I love about this thread (and every Mumsnet decorating thread) is that people get so annoyed about people putting up their decorations early 🤣 chill your beans huns, none of us are stopping you from begrudgingly putting your tree up on Christmas Eve so leave us alone to put our trees up in November!

The weekend before Christmas, so 20th/21st. It comes down on 12th night

Probably 7th December, we get a real tree and it’s only open weekend. 30th november feels a bit early and I’ll be on crutches so won’t be able to. By the 7th I have half a chance of going and at least sitting in the car while the family choose the tree.

Looking at the calendar probably the weekend of 13th/14th December. And it’ll be down a couple of days either side of New Years Eve depending on my mood and if the needles are dropping.

1st of November is ludicrous! I don't know anyone who puts it up then. Any time in December is OK, (we put our tree and decorations up around 3rd to 7th December,) but 1st November is just daft.

24th December and it comes down around 28th. Ido take it down on 26th if the family would let me. Utter pain in the arse.

I know this is the Christmas board but YABVU

Most of the decorations will go up from 17th Dec but the main tree goes up on the morning if the 24th. It’s a family tradition going back 40 years now and now involves all our children, their spouses and our grandchildren all decorating the tree 🌲. We have plenty of coffee and bacon sandwiches on hand and it is just joyous as everyone puts their favourite baubles on the tree.

Decorations come down on for Twelfth Night.

Real tree, probably 20th December and it will come down New Years Day or sooner if I get sick of it. I saw a tree up earlier in the week complete with outdoor lights.

That is what my mum used to do when we were little, the cards, the nativity scene and the Advent calender would go up on 1 December which kept us happy til the tree went up when we broke up and then all the streamers and tinsel went up on Christmas Eve. Looking back I think she did a great job by staggering all the build up and excitement. It felt magical

Last week of Nov just as soon as the real trees come into stock locally. But I take everything down on New year's day.

Mine is usually first weekend in December but I think it will be late November this year. I have an American friend and will be hosting thanksgiving for them and I think it will make my house look nicer to have the stuff up already!

Yes I realise most Americans wait until after Thanksgiving to decorate, but I don't really care! I'm doing a UK/USA hybrid!

First weekend in December

Just curious if its a decision of his not to have it up for his birthday? I only ask because I see this a lot and my birthday is December 18th and to me its not my birthday if its not Christmassy. I know mine is later in December and we put our tree up first weekend of December.
