Dance Christmas GIF by Pure Radio

I'm hoping to buy a real one this year, (since I cant afford Balsam Hill 😪) so that will go up on Dec 1st

But I bought a cheap pencil one for the hallway which I plan to put up tomorrow, November 1st 🎄🥰

When's yours going up? 👀

Mid December. Any earlier takes away the magic a bit as then we are sick looking at the Xmas decorations by the time the big day comes.

pushthebuttonnn · 01/11/2025 08:44

When dh is putting our Halloween decorations up I get him to take the Christmas ones down so hopefully next week 😁 And I leave them up until Jan 7th. All these bah humbugs saying it's too early, let people do what makes them happy ho ho ho 🎄 🎅

Growlybear83 · 01/11/2025 08:47

My tree goes up on Christmas Eve and comes down on Twelfth Night.

Damsonjam1 · 01/11/2025 08:48

2nd week of December or later. Always buy real, and want it to last until New Year. I do put up lights on shrubs in front garden this month, mainly to give a bit of light to dark evenings.

cottonwoolie · 01/11/2025 08:56

2nd week of December usually

WhiteJeans7 · 01/11/2025 09:08

Last week in November here. I never used to put them up before 1st December, but I'm feeling celebratory this year and ready to start getting sorted for Christmas.

I was diagnosed with cancer this time last year, and last Christmas was a really awful time with me struggling with my treatment. Every time I looked at my little DD, who was only 4, I just wanted to cry. This year is very different - I'm in remission and feeling much better. I just want to celebrate and make sure my family's Christmas is magical this year.

EleanorReally · 01/11/2025 09:08

possibly 21st december

Oh @WhiteJeans7 ❤️🥺💐

So glad to hear that you are in remission! Fucking fuck cancer, honestly.

Yes, it will be an extra special one this year. Will it be you and dd or are you having loads of people round?

What will you be buying yourself, as you deserve something lovely

These kids have no idea how much we depend on them as well, they just mean so much to us. xx

That's interesting, as a child we always had real trees from the start of December and they lasted really well.

We have a wood burner in our sitting room and when lit, the room is rendered furnace-like. No greenery can survive.

Ahh see I need it for those “in betweeny days” so Im allowed to eat, drink and watch movies constantly and then on new year’s eve when I’m having a glass of prosecco before a very early bedtime I look at it and think hmmm. Then first few days of Jan I can get rid along with the idea I can continue my food baby.

@Newsenmum love your username, welcome to the sen mum club 🥰

😄😄 I do like this idea, the in between days do need lots of food and wine

I spend them tidying and eating and asking 'what day is it' 10 times a day 😭

Normally 20thish.
DS1 is autistic and gets overly excited the whole month as it is so try and keep it down till the last week

Oh bless him, mine is autistic and likes to throw the baubles around 😭 - between her and the cat i am forever picking them up and putting them back on the tree

Mid-December.

OP, don’t buy a BH tree! There is a Facebook page devoted to complaints about them
Have a look at Christmas Tree World, lovely trees sensible prices. Both our DSs liked ours so much they each bought one.

Omg 👀👀 - what a shame, they seem to be the gold standard

Will have a look at christmas tree world xx

Thank you ❤️ that's so kind. We'll be seeing lots of family before and after, but over Christmas DH, DD and I are going to spend it just the 3 of us in a little cottage in another part of the UK, reconnecting after such a difficult year. I'll be bringing some decorations with me! But will do it on a much smaller scale than at home 😊

LemonTreeGrove · 01/11/2025 10:10

December 1st - December 31st

gingercat02 · 01/11/2025 10:16

Usually 2 weekends before Christmas, will likely be 13th this year. A real tree only lasts so long, we keep ours up until 12th night so it would be like a brown stick if we put it up too soon.

GameOfJones · 01/11/2025 10:26

December 1st - December 31st

This is the same as us. Or the first weekend in December and then down on New Year's Eve as I love everything feeling fresh and clean for the new year.

We put the outside Christmas lights up the last weekend of November though because there are rather a lot of them 🤣. So it's too much to do that and the inside decorations all in one day.

piscofrisco · 01/11/2025 10:27

last weekend in November I think

tinyspiny · 01/11/2025 11:49

@mumofoneAloneandwell there are also thousands of people who are happy with their BH trees , we have 2 and they are gorgeous you do however have to put in the time to fluff them properly . We have had ours for several years and bought them in sales and I’ve never seen any in garden centres / shops that are as good looking .

RandomUsernameHere · 01/11/2025 12:20

Whenever I give in to the DCs’ pestering. Now that Halloween is over they will be keen!

dontforgetme · 01/11/2025 12:20

First Friday of December usually but this year it’ll all go up on Friday 28th Nov, due to an early Christmas get together at ours on Saturday 29th. I do take mine down on the 30th. I like to bring in the new year with a deep cleaned clear house and having them still up when I’m back to work on 2nd Jan depresses me. I love Christmas.

Purplebunnie · 01/11/2025 13:12

Choosing the trees from the Christmas tree farm when they open mid November. Will get them to cut w/c 8 December and will collect on the 13/14 and decorate over the weekend. We are very lucky to live near to an excellent Christmas tree farm and this is how this has operated for the last 10 years. Take down around 4th Dec as DD goes back to work and it's a bit too much for me on my own now.

AmIBeingWeird · 01/11/2025 13:13

not before December

Wherearethegaps · 01/11/2025 13:14

24th of December. Family tradition when everyone has arrived home.

Real family feel with food and music.

Stays up right through the Christmas season when there is lots of family time and time to relax.
