I'm hoping to buy a real one this year, (since I cant afford Balsam Hill 😪) so that will go up on Dec 1st

But I bought a cheap pencil one for the hallway which I plan to put up tomorrow, November 1st 🎄🥰

When's yours going up? 👀

I’m quite sad that we definitely won’t have any decorations up until at least the middle of December. Our home is being sold (after ten years living here 😭) and our ‘eviction’ date is the middle of December. DC1 is 4 and DC2 will be 9 months so I’m gutted it’s going to be such a crap stressy time rather than a festive wonderland from the 1st of December (or thereabouts) like I usually like!

Edited

Sorry that your landlord is a fucking dick 💐💕

I usually put mine up the first week of December. My next door neighbour puts hers up on November 1st and takes it all down on Boxing Day because she’s sick of it. A couple of years ago she told me that she didn’t know how I could ‘still look at Christmas decorations’ because they were still up in January but she still put hers up in November.

I've brought some decorations out of the loft today. Not the big tree. But I've made a start. 😁😁😁

RealChristmasBaby · 31/10/2025 18:30

I'll be putting my trees up the last week of November because we're going to Venice the first week of December, usually it would be whatever weekend is nearest the 1st December. I love having the house all festive, that's really the part I enjoy most - along with Christmas dinner.

cinquanta · 31/10/2025 18:38

The end of the first week in December if we are home for Christmas. Not at all if we aren’t.

If it goes up, it will stay up until 12th night. None of this down on Boxing Day nonsense.

The year we moved in she said ‘don’t you celebrate Christmas’ because my house wasn’t decorated on December 3rd.

zazazaaar · 31/10/2025 19:06

Normally 20thish.
DS1 is autistic and gets overly excited the whole month as it is so try and keep it down till the last week

The Sunday before Christmas Day

NewJobProblem · 31/10/2025 19:15

Our decorations go up probably later than most others - the weekend before Christmas - so it’ll be the 19/20th December. But we keep the decorations up over Christmas and well into January. For us, Christmas is the start of the celebrations rather than the end. I don’t get it when people take everything down on boxing day!

Justforchristmas · 31/10/2025 19:22

30th November this year hopefully

ConfusedAnxiousMum · 31/10/2025 19:23

The week before Christmas usually.

pizzaHeart · 31/10/2025 19:29

We put a real tree so it’s usually around 10th December plus/minus 3 days depending on how busy we are.
We take it down after New Year’s Day between 2nd and 5th, again depending on when we have a free time.
Christmas tree takes up quite a big of space in the living room, I don’t think I could survive it longer than 4 weeks.

Figgygal · 31/10/2025 19:35

First weekend of December is the norm
Though we're away for xmas this year

DickDewey · 31/10/2025 19:38

We’re inveterate snobs, so about a week before Christmas.

Also we have 2 real trees and real foliage, it would look dreadful if it spent too long in a warm house.

Notagain75 · 31/10/2025 19:43

No sooner than two weeks before Xmas and probably a week before. Then I will
Take it down on twelfth night,

TrickyD · 31/10/2025 19:55

Mid-December.

OP, don’t buy a BH tree! There is a Facebook page devoted to complaints about them
Have a look at Christmas Tree World, lovely trees sensible prices. Both our DSs liked ours so much they each bought one.

That's interesting, as a child we always had real trees from the start of December and they lasted really well.

The week before Christmas.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 31/10/2025 14:09

I do get the Christmas ick though and take it all down after boxing day

Ahh see I need it for those “in betweeny days” so Im allowed to eat, drink and watch movies constantly and then on new year’s eve when I’m having a glass of prosecco before a very early bedtime I look at it and think hmmm. Then first few days of Jan I can get rid along with the idea I can continue my food baby.

Same. They go about a month if you water them well.

Openmouthinsertfood · 31/10/2025 20:46

I've had mine up a few weeks already.

RosesAndHellebores · 31/10/2025 20:47

Not before 18th December. It will come down on 12th night.
