Thread 8 - the one with all the pillow talk

This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

It's nearly time! November is tomorrow and Mariah Carey will be officially announcing the start of festivities Grin . Hope you're all well and just wanted to give you all a massive thank you so sharing these wonderful ideas and codes etc. It helps me SO MUCH. I know I don't post much on here (various things going on) but I appreciate this warm place of mn so much.

I put together some Xmas jokes if anybody wants to print them for making DIY advents or crackers - don’t think I’m allowed to share on here but can send a link if you message me (I think?!)

Has anyone good ideas for a 13 year old for their stockings? I usually do Lego figures, dairy free sweets and small gifts that fit but as he is getting older, it’s getting harder.

Ewock · 07/11/2025 12:50

Oneborneverydecade · 07/11/2025 11:22

We've bought them from Temu and Amazon. I really enjoyed them, my 7yo DD was willing but easily frustrated

Can I check what these are please?

FurForksSake · 07/11/2025 12:50

@Raindancer411 I’ve currently got a thread going in Christmas about slightly unhinged stockings.

small power bank for phone
socks
pants
smellies
fidget toys
stationery
fun foods from the world foods aisle or local foreign food store
pop tarts / cereal you wouldn’t usually buy
mini toiletries (boots often have a good range)
spot stickers
hot chocolate sachets / tub (galaxy vegan is nice)
cake mix

one of mine is getting a fray bentos and the other pot noodles 😆

valentinoandme · 07/11/2025 13:01

@IAmLadyWhistledown I've searched stores all over the country for you and can't find them anywhere! Hopefully they'll re-stock soon 🤞

These are the ones we ordered from Amazon, I'm not sure about the Temu ones tbh

Toiletries, a christmas tree ornament that is linked to a hobby eg a guitar/minecraft etc, tech stuff - there is an airpod cleaner on Amazon that has been popular in the past.

Houseofsardines · 07/11/2025 13:32

IRL shopping dupes:
Anthropologie has a gingerbread ceramic line this year- mug£12, milk jug £16
B&M have the dupes! IMO nicer colours than Anthro
mugs with lids in sage green £4
milk jug £3.50
plus 6% cashback with MBNA credit card

Ah that’s so kind! Thank you for checking. I’ll keep an eye out, trying to be as organised as possible thinking they wouldn’t go out of stock 🥲

ITSSSSCHRISTMASSS · 07/11/2025 14:00

@Raindancer411

toiletries
some good skincare, clear pimple patches
novelty jokes/quizzes/puzzels
gift card for Costa or starbucks
I remember someone mentioning a lock picking kit a couple of years ago, I always thought that sounded cool.

GiddyDog · 07/11/2025 14:03

@Raindancer411 lip balm, star face pimple patches (my DD wears these as some sort of fashion statement 😂), bath bomb, heatless curlers, cute keychain, hair clips, notebook, pens/pencils, costume jewellery, fluffy bed socks, tote bag themed to character/band she likes, bobbles/scrunchies, new phone case if she has a phone. My daughter is 11 and would basically be happy with any little trinkety bits and bobs like these, Primark is our friend, mine plays drums so this year I've got her a little mini desktop drum kit which I think will go down well.

Contigo are pretty good and very durable, had a few from Costco in the past. Did you know Contigo means ‘With You’ in Spanish? These mugs will be with you for a long time!

The topcashback is selected users, just seen it on hot deals.

Raindancer411 · 07/11/2025 14:28

Thank you all :) I have added an memory stick to the list and a blazer pocket buddy, and shall look at some of the other ideas too.

I am also struggling for main gifts for him as he mainly sits on Roblox and has so much Lego, drawing stuff and gadgets. He doesn’t even know what he wants! I am hoping some good deals and ideas will come up this Black Friday 🤞

FurForksSake · 07/11/2025 14:34

@Raindancer411 id steer towards experiences, theme park for the day, Harry Potter studios, trip to the Lego store in a major city for the day with a budget, young drivers experience, theatre tickets, cooking lessons or something.

Thankyou for the Lucy and Jane earrings rec- I got three pairs for £12.95 (bought one pair, one free with the code WELCOME, and the free snowflakes)

Have you picked from the 'free list?'

If you sign up to the newsletter they send you a choice of three free gifts

GiddyDog · 07/11/2025 14:50

@Raindancer411 ignore mine 😂 I'd misread that you were buying for a 13 year old girl so they'll mostly not be suitable!

I ended up getting the blue as were £7.85. Think they are the latest version 2.0

Disgusting sweets/drinks that you'd never normally allow (such as the toxic waste slushie I've just got for £0.75 from B&M 🤢)

MadeForThis · 07/11/2025 16:49

Has anyone seen a bargain deal on Converse. Looking for size 3 girls/woman. The boot style. Much appreciated!

I don’t know if I’m imagining it but I’m sure this exact message has been copied and pasted multiple times throughout the threads.. is it some kind of scam? 🤔 (apologies to the poster if I’m mistaken!)
