This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

This is an excellent power bank with cables, i have 3, good for stockings :) They do lots of full charges per use. https://amzn.eu/d/barqJxc

Does anyone know if gravitrax is compatible with other brands?

Beautifulsunflowers · 30/08/2025 18:47

I went real life shopping today. Hobbycraft had lots of bits reduced. Little craft kits like paint your own money box were £2.50. Great as a stocking filler!

Poodlelove · 30/08/2025 18:51

Time is flying by , such a good idea to do this thread, thank you .

Restlessinthenorth · 30/08/2025 18:53

@Tequilamockinbird thank you for sharing the penhaligons link! I've bought that at full price before and it's gone down well, so would be rude not to repurchase as a stocking filler!

If anyone comes across any bargains for a bike with stabilisers please let me know 🙏 eldest DD is definitely ready for one, I didn’t realise they were in the hundreds though 😭 she is 5 in November but v tall for her age (7-8/8-9 trousers) so I think I would need a 16” one(?) as opposed to the cheaper ones for her actual age 🫣😭 thanks!

Does anyone know what the sizing is like on OHS please? They do S/M or L/XL in Pjs and I'm not sure what to order for a size 12-14.

Giraffemonkey8 · 30/08/2025 20:06

Probably not the right thread to ask but you’re all so helpful with shopping ideas - does anyone know where I can find a set of short sleeved short pyjamas (ideally button down) that are actually cooling, due to give birth shortly and it’s like walking into a sauna in hospital. Thank you so much!

Have you tried primark? I have some loose thin cotton button down shirt pyjamas from there and I live in them.

I recently gave birth and have lived in this night dress from Amazon, even bought it in another colour. It’s very comfy and washes well. Ekouaer Women Nightshirt Short... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0C7D3TQ9J?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

sorry @Giraffemonkey8 meant to tag you in the above

ZestyDog · 30/08/2025 20:37

The stuff is generally OK, however if you have a problem the customer service is absolutely abysmal.
They will do anything to avoid giving refunds, even if you are entitled to one. I've had a couple of issues with things which took an age to sort out, but the worst was when I bought an electric blanket which developed a dangerous fault and it took weeks of arguing and being ignored to get a refund, even though they already had the item back.
I would NEVER buy anything from them again

@MamaK19 I think the standard advice these days is not to bother with stabilisers unless absolutely necessary but rather to take the pedals off for a bit so they can learn balance. I'd go for something like an isla bike or a frog bike so it's lightweight and she'll pick it up in no time. You can get them secondhand then buy parts to refurbish if you'd like.
