I'm taking a punt here that we won't need another thread before Christmas, but feel free to prove me wrong!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Stock informer is a handy site http://www.stockinformer.co.uk/default.aspx?fullsite=1

Camelcamelcamel is a great amazon price tracking tool http://uk.camelcamelcamel.com

The following links compare price products including postage

@Puffalicious I checked out the latest Which report and bought a spring + foam / white/grey / UK Double - 135x190 cm - from Eve. It cost £449 back in January 2023. Almost the best thing that I have ever purchased! So comfortable. Places like Eve are good as their website will guide you through what might work best for you - side sleeping, back sleeping, light/heavy people etc. Good luck! I see that Eve are still one of the recommended brands from Which - along with Ikea, Hypnos, Vispring, Dulopillo.

That is SO useful. I'll check Eve. Funnily enough I was in IKEA the other day & lay on a few, one in particular was really comfortable. I've always bought the kids'/ teens' mattresses fron there, but assunrd I should go a bit more upmarket for us, but maybe not!

Great that you've seen the Which report. I didn't want to pay for it, but perhaps I should?

Thanks again

Another one with no update at all from converse / parcelforce. It seemed so promising before Christmas!

hugsandpugs · 03/01/2025 00:10

Looks like I’ll be contacting converse again in the morning. Still no update on my parcel 📦 😒

I had a reply to my email yesterday saying they had been despatched yesterday and would be 4-5 days both for the tracking information to be updated and for delivery 🤔
I think I'll give it 5 days and then request a refund if they've not turned up.

hugsandpugs · 03/01/2025 10:34

Re : converse

Just had yet another phone conversation with them. They said that there was a problem with the logistics service and the order has had to be reshipped. They said it left them yesterday and tracking should update when the parcel is received in the UK which should be Monday/Tuesday at the latest. Apparently I should have the delivery by the end of next week.

I think if it’s not received by the end of next week I’ll be going through PayPal to request a refund as getting fed up of waiting now!

re beds/mattresses, I would recommend Sealy. Got ours from qvc a few years ago, still amazing. they have a great return policy too, if stuff isn't suitable. they do different brands too

@Puffalicious I am huge fan of Which - and often use it (more often than I ever thought possible). Last year it was for: electric/hybrid vehicles, a dehumidifier, kettle, toaster, laptop for teenager, pension advice, and probably other things! Worth every penny.

Glad you managed to get your coat. Mine got cancelled off the order, but I still have a fleece and some leggings coming.
Interested to know if the coat is warm and whether it’s worth keeping my eye out for another or similar one

Tog24 have a sale on at the moment - quite a few coats and jackets with decent discounts and 10% sign up bonus. I only have their gymwear but DD2 has one of their jackets and loves it

Talisin · 03/01/2025 11:57

@Puffalicious Worth checking if your local library has a subscription to Which.

PlanBea · 03/01/2025 16:00

I've just had a dispatch email from Converse for my order from 3am on the 20th, hopefully you'll all get yours soon too!

MaybeItsTimeForMeNow · 03/01/2025 16:05

My parcelforce tracking has just updated too, it's now at the hub so I'm now back to feeling hopeful it's coming!

NoWordForFluffy · 03/01/2025 16:41

Quidco has 10% cash back at Dunelm if anyone needs it (and in the absence of discount codes!).

Chocolateteabag · 03/01/2025 16:50

My converse order has been handed to parcel force at 4pm today (ordered early on the 20th)

IlovePond · 03/01/2025 18:10

Hi,

M&S had the tiramisu liqueur stuff reduced from £16 to £7 this pm and the coffee cream liqueur bottle was down to £8, (I think).

Also reduced: Turkey crisps, Xmas stuffing, mini GF Xmas cakes and a couple of chocolate items. Gingerbread syrup was reduced to under £1, (long date), and short-dated banoffee syrup for 63p.

Over in Tesco: Rum mince pies down to 87p - I got some to try, plus Xmas Skittles boxes for £1.25, Cadbury’s mini chocolate selection for 77p and Jacob’s crackers selection box for £2. I got some of all of these.

Also on offer: Lindt chocolate - big bars reduced to under £6 and various Reece’s chocolate peanut butter products, Xmas Maltesers and Terry’s chocolate bars.

Non-food: They were restocking the Xmas Lynx gift sets and the men’s L’Oreal and Dove. The Lynx jumper and spray set was particularly good value at £15.

I got a women’s Dove set for £4.50.

NOTE: You have to put your Clubcard in at the till to get some of these prices.

I was thrilled to pick up a F+F dry robe dupe for me - not reduced as such, but I unexpectedly got 20% off at the till.

Aldi still had the gold Caviar cream in stock - I only know this as I had to take yesterday’s back to swap as someone had opened it already, (which I only discovered last night!)

Dormouse1940 · 03/01/2025 18:48

Just seen this ghost gift set for about £18 on amazon

Ghost 100ml with brushes and case

Compared to price of the 100ml on its own everywhere else, this set with brushes seems too good to be true?

I may have just treated myself by accident

Well, we are braving an extension Inc new kitchen this year, so no doubt I'll need to look at various things, so that might just be a shout.

Good idea!

Been to the cinema with DH and DC so only just checking emails….

Just noticed I have had an email from converse and my trainers are now at the parcel force hub! Woop 🥳

hugsandpugs · 04/01/2025 00:22

@IlovePond I wore the regatta coat out tonight when we went to the cinema and it’s definitely nice and warm & keeps the cold out. I didn’t feel cold at all with it on and it was -3 degrees out at the time

PurpleSkittler · 04/01/2025 00:32

In Asda yesterday, I got:
12 smallish but pretty crackers 88p
Xmas napkins 25p
Large Christmas eve boxes 50p
Wrapping paper 38p
Pannetone £1
600ml double cream £1.15 (not short date, I assume they've just got too much left over?)
Fig & whiskey mince pies 63p

Sainsbury's:
Lots of good prices on alcohol gift sets, like:
3 port miniatures £2.25
Limoncello minature with glass £2.75
Tanqueray gin miniature with lovely flower tumbler £2.50

I didn't see any 1p bargàins or 30p cheese truckels, but there were some big reductions on the Christmas rooms scents/diffusers and homeware generally.

Mince3141 · 04/01/2025 01:17

@Puffalicious I bought some mammoth stuff a few years ago because I decided I needed proper grown up bed stuff. Nearly cried at the prices but my goodness are they worth every penny.

Never heard of mammoth. I'll look into that 👍

IlovePond · 04/01/2025 07:42

Thanks @hugsandpugs - which one did you get?

MaybeItsTimeForMeNow · 04/01/2025 07:53

Converse are arriving today! 😁
