I'm taking a punt here that we won't need another thread before Christmas, but feel free to prove me wrong!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

How easy are the tattoo pens to wash off - think dc would like them but always a bit wary of these kind of things as have a strict school uniform/appearance restrictions where even 'faded tattoos' could land a detention.

@Iknownothing we've only used the colour ones so far and they've come off quite easily just by the usual washing. My hand one half survived a shower but not the washing up.

I didn't get a confirmation email from Terrys just the cancellation one so you might still get one.

I got a confirmation email then a very belated cancellation yesterday. DH got the confirmation too but his cancellation still hasn’t come through.

Has anyone seen any reduced family calendars in a supermarket please? Was hoping to bag a cheap one!

I'm looking for a good bargain on a new mattress. I've been looking, & it's really difficult to know what's a genuine bargain & not just hugely inflated prices before the 'reduction' or 'sale'. Also reviews are so mixed for all of them!

One that people have had/ heard from others is a good mattress. We have pocket sprung at the minute ; it's so comfortable but far too old. The fact that it's so comfortable is why we keep delaying, as I'm afraid the new one won't be! I know loads come with periods of trial.

Did anyone pick up the colouring changing Harry Potter hot choc? We did and have just tried some. It was awful! Changed colour nicely but the fragrance and taste were vile. Wondered if it was just our set?

We had some from B&M. as you say, colour changed and was very vibrant, but tasted vile.

Thanks I thought I'd somehow mucked up making hot chocolate 🤣 I couldn't even describe the taste but nothing near chocolate and weirdly perfumey. We've chucked the powder now and keeping the other bits.

Got the Terrys ‘unsuccessful’ email too so I’m intrigued how many they actually sent out!

Still no update on my converse tracking though!

If anyone is near an M&S store, they had some festive food at 90% off. I got a box of "The Happy Christmas Selection" chocolates for £1.50, was £15 (large city centre store). They also had cheap mince pies and Christmas puddings.

@Hohohopeful they sell these in home bargains, 79p for a pack of four. I bought some as party bag fillers the other week. They were next to the tills.
