I'm taking a punt here that we won't need another thread before Christmas, but feel free to prove me wrong!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Stock informer is a handy site http://www.stockinformer.co.uk/default.aspx?fullsite=1

Camelcamelcamel is a great amazon price tracking tool http://uk.camelcamelcamel.com

The following links compare price products including postage
www.find-book.co.uk
www.find-cd.co.uk
www.find-dvd.co.uk
www.find-game.co.uk (as in PS4/xbox etc)

I currently have a few things in my basket for Regatta but the returns charge is giving me pause. I do need a new padded coat/jacket but am worried about sizing. Do people find Regatta come up small?

Thanjs

I’m in between a 10 and 12 and have bought their fleeces previously and sized up to a 12. They are quite fitted. Never had a regatta coat but ordered a 12 as I’m worried the 10 might be a bit snug judging by the fleeces

Very tempted by the Regatta sale. Any recommendations for a warm, waterproof jacket please?
The warmth is really important, needs to help survive playground duties!! Xx

I’ve ordered one but can’t comment on how warm it is til it comes looks lovely though!

managed to get it for £17.60 delivered

I was about to buy some reduced changing robes for me and DS from the regatta sale and then found the same robes sold by wow camping for a more bargainous price. They have lots of things across the site on a hefty discount. Worth a look.

I am twitching on the soap and glory sets in boots but did I read on here at some point everything goes to 90% off or did I dream that? Also looking to get a new photo calendar for next year if anyone has seen any bargains

LadyPene · 29/12/2024 19:28

Just want to second that wh smith have some real bargains in store. Lots of £1 books (kids books and cook books) in the one I visited today, plus some lego polybags for £1.

Did anyone buy a claw machine for Christmas? My son put one on his list and it's his birthday in a few days so would love a recommendation (or a warning of a rubbish one!).

We bought the one from Smyth's - we had one from The Entertainer which we had to take back twice and eventually give up on for a previous birthday. The Smyth's one has been great but was sadly not bargainous at £35. We did buy it with the buy 1 get 1 half price on games though so worked well for us at the time.

MrsWinterby · 29/12/2024 21:15

The code MWAW20 still seems to work for 20% off at Mountain Warehouse, including sale stuff!

fishfingersandchipsagain · 29/12/2024 21:21

That’s odd. I had an Argos £10 off £60 promo code that I had been saving. Applied it to a £60 order, and it only took £5 off. I vaguely remember similar happening last year.

On the plus side I finally decided on a coffee pod machine 😆

Rubyroo73 · 29/12/2024 22:14

Does anyone have a Etsy code? I remember there was a 50% off one on an earlier thread but didn’t need it at the time and do now!

IlovePond · 29/12/2024 22:29

Thanks @hugsandpugs

Notlongnow1 · 29/12/2024 22:34

Does anyone know of best place to buy Lankybox merchandise please. Specifically a baby boxy plush?! 6yo has christmas money burning a hole in her pocket but I'd rather she didn't spend silly money on it! Thanking you all!

Leipling · 29/12/2024 22:46

That looks perfect @hugsandpugs but sadly OOS in any size that might fit me. The search goes on.....

Thelifeofawife · 29/12/2024 22:53

@hugsandpugs Thanks for the Regatta info, I ordered the same coat (though it was approx £2 more than you paid), also ordered a couple of other bits.

Thelifeofawife · 29/12/2024 22:53

I have generally avoided the sales due to high spend pre-Christmas, but I went to Next IRL whilst I was passing and managed to get some great menswear and homeware less than half price. Then I fell on my sword and looked on the Next website, ordered some Bath and Body works bits that I definitely don’t need, but nice to have.
They also have some beauty crackers reduced

Yalz · 29/12/2024 22:54

@MamaK19, I have been in store in Boots in two years when the remaining sale stock has gone to 90% off, but it then it sells very quickly and I’ve never seen those prices online. You can never tell what will be left in your local branch.

Happy to be corrected if someone has seen it online, especially as it’s now possible to filter a search by “hide out of stock items” to save scrolling through pages and pages of items marked “coming soon.”

Thelifeofawife · 29/12/2024 22:55

@IlovePond Belated birthday wishes 💐 Glad you had a nice day out

Sorry if you've had a response I'm just catching up but my local Tesco had them half price at £10 yesterday. My sons had one for a while and they pick up lindt balls well 😅

IlovePond · 29/12/2024 23:02

Thanks @Thelifeofawife!

It only went up to Christmas Day unfortunately (GETAPP50).

Wholetthedogsoutwhowhowho · 30/12/2024 00:25

Regarding Regatta, do they charge for returns when taking back to a store? It says on the website you can take back to store but no mention if there's a charge?

Can’t remember who asked about the Anker power bank but this one was reduced to £12.99. I really like Anker stuff, best earphones I have had and really good value, or would be if I didn’t keep losing them!!!!

Also have this one, and it is fab!

Anyone else still not got their converse? My Evri tracking still says ‘we’re expecting your package’ but I ordered on 20th.

Yes, same as me. Ordered the 20th too.

Me too! I ordered on the 19th too. A bit puzzled here.

Clucket87 · 30/12/2024 15:11

I got an email to say they had cancelled my order and then got an email to say it was taking longer than expected 2 days after they said it was cancelled
No idea. Luckily it's a birthday present for May, so it's not the end of the world. Xx
