I'm taking a punt here that we won't need another thread before Christmas, but feel free to prove me wrong!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Stock informer is a handy site http://www.stockinformer.co.uk/default.aspx?fullsite=1

Camelcamelcamel is a great amazon price tracking tool http://uk.camelcamelcamel.com

The following links compare price products including postage
www.find-book.co.uk
www.find-cd.co.uk
www.find-dvd.co.uk
www.find-game.co.uk (as in PS4/xbox etc)

Where has reasonable priced medium sized gift bags, that I could get in person today? About the size of a Sainsbury’s/Tesco/Asda “bag for life” (formerly known as a carrier bag)?

I’ve seen huge ones in Lidl, nice but too small ones in Asda and Sainsburys, and massively expensive ones the right size in John Lewis.

It’s for grouping together family presents, so carrier bag sized would be perfect.

How about the bags for life? There's been Christmas ones in tesco, around a £1 and can reuse afterwards! That's what I do! 😊

Puffalicious · 22/12/2024 22:02

RL shopping today. Dobbies Garden Centres have 50% off all Christmas decorations & a good chunk off of trees etc.

Sainsbury's had great reductions on lots of lovely candles & Xmas gift bits.

Thank you 😊I managed to get a few in the end.

Thank you both. We've decided to go to Bath tomorrow, for a family walk around and some last shopping bits. I'll keep my 👀 peeled! Just feels a bit weird when they used to have piles! Blankets us a good shout, our house is freezing!!

BoilingHotand50something · 22/12/2024 22:56

Thanks everyone for all the bargains and suggestions. Finished wrapping today and really pleased with it all. Started in October and has been a lovely run up to the big day reading these threads. Merry Christmas

Hope everyone else who ordered received theirs too 🥰

Just finished wrapping. And now panicking 😂 DD19 and DS14. Decided this year I wouldn't fill out, no add on pressies, so DS has a guitar and DD has a phone. Nothing else 😳 It felt like the right thing to do at the time. Now it just feels a bit meh. A bit like they should have a few more things to open. But I'm really struggling. I don't like buying for the sake of it. They don't need clothes, DD has clothes and gazelles coming from grandparents, they don't need books, I've bought a family game. Just no idea what else to buy. Or, whether I just stick to my guns 🤔

Accessories for the things they're getting? Eg. Padded guitar case, plectrum holder, selection of plectrums, digital Tuner, metal slide, if electric pedal and headphones, ear protectors, pedal deck and daisy chain connector. I've purchased all these locally over the years.

Phone case screen protector, charm, spotify giftcard, projector.

Giftcards for snacks when they're in town with friends. Nicer versions of stuff they use. Perfume/ aftershave, skincare. Gifts for teens don't have to be wasteful. Voucher for nails done, dominos, go karting.

Or stick to your guns.

TheGriffle · 23/12/2024 00:53

We are just about wrapped! Im missing 2 presents, a bargain Hello Kitty Jumper from Tesco and a non bargainous anklet I picked up in the summer holidays. Cannot find them so hoping they’re in dh’s wardrobe which I can search tomorrow. Just the stockings to stuff and the Christmas Eve boxes to pack.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the thread, it’s really such a lovely corner of Mumsnet and I love reading every post.

Theraffarian · 23/12/2024 08:35

Just a heads up to anyone shopping in Morrisons this morning, their more card system isn’t working , so no promotions , more card points etc are registering. Our local is also 4 hours behind if you have ordered a click and collect from them .

Dafi24 · 23/12/2024 08:39

So I've been a watching these threads since September but never have anything to contribute. I've thanked people for their bargains though and haven't stolen any codes! Thank you so much for all the bargains even if it did make me twitch at the end! 😂
Email from Flying Flowers - 40% of Christmas collection with code Merry40. Apparently if you order by 4pm today they'll get delivered by christmas eve. Just to add they were a bit hit and miss but I was happy with my bunch.

hugsandpugs · 23/12/2024 10:05

I had an email Thursday to say converse order had shipped but when I’m clicking on the link it says no tracking information available. Apparently it will be arriving with parcel force

JoJothegerbil · 23/12/2024 10:07

I'm finally done. My last two presents arrived last night. Just need to wrap them. My next problem is to find somewhere to stash the 8kg turkey that I've just collected. I ordered 6kg but they apologised that it was bigger than I wanted. I've not been charged more, but it's enormous!

Thanks for all the bargains over the year. Looking forward to ore bargain hunting for Xmas 2025.

Lucky you, I've just unpacked the most expensive piece of beef I've ever bought and which said it would serve 4. Well I could eat it all by myself if I tried!

MrsWinterby · 23/12/2024 10:39

Thanks very much to everyone for a lovely time on these threads! ❤️ Did anyone at all get a free chocolate orange?!

slimmyjimmy · 23/12/2024 10:40

Is anybody experiencing delays with Asda. Expecting my delivery and my app says it's being prepared...it's due between 10 &11.
Merry Christmas to all you bargain hunters! Thanks for the bargains, help and advice on this amazing thread. Thanks also to @Reastie

Yalz · 23/12/2024 11:04

It might be a bit late for Christmas, but the Boots No7 outlet site’s sale has begun. There are gift sets of sample sizes from £5.

i have never bought from this site and don’t know if it’s genuine, but I first heard about it on one of these wonderful MN Christmas threads. The email address is no7beauty.co.uk

If anyone reading this has experience of the site it would be very helpful to know.

Iluvchristmasbargains · 23/12/2024 11:20

@Dafi24 Email from Flying Flowers - 40% of Christmas collection with code Merry40.
Thanks, going to try this. Funnily enough the code doesn’t work on Bloom & Wilde! Too many Christmas cocktails last night, I think!

Also like to thank everyone for the bargainous inspiration - it's taken a lot of stress out of present buying.

No chocolate orange here yet :(

rhubarbhandsoap · 23/12/2024 11:22

My personalised elf book arrived, thank you for the tip @hugsandpugs! We did a bedtime story set up (massive ‘bed’ on the kitchen table) and DS loved the book and said “I bet she saw that on mumsnet” as apparently that’s where all the good ideas have come from in recent months 😂

Thanks so much for being a lovely corner of the internet, it’s made the whole year so special, all is bought and wrapped and I only twitched on the Converse!

Wishing you all a very merry Christmas 🎄

Justonedayatatime11 · 23/12/2024 12:28

My converse has finally shipped and is saying will be out for delivery tomorrow with parcelforce

Puffalicious · 23/12/2024 12:34

I'll add to the thanks. This is just my 3rd year on these lovely, Christmas threads & it's just wonderful..

I've been busy over the past 2 days, delivering presents to lots of nieces/ nephews/ friends. I'm wrapping my own 3 boys' & DP today & loving all the ideas & bargains from here. Amongst it all, I think my favourite is the idea of the Snack-Verse box- our 1st box arrived & it's Australia, which is bringing back memories of 1998 when I lived there for 6 months. DS2 will LOVE getting this every month, as despite being 18 he is a snack monster! It's not a massive bargain, but it's an amazing idea, & that's what I love about the threads. I told my friend about it the other day, & she was like 'That's brilliant! Where do you find these fabulous ideas every year?' 😀

The Elves will bringing the Sock Shop jammies tomorrow night & we'll all play Outsmarted! 👏

Have an amazing Christmas one & all.

watchuswreckthemic · 23/12/2024 12:41

@wibdib I don't think anyone has replied- are you adding it as a shop code?

IlovePond · 23/12/2024 12:43

Yes, Merry Xmas to everyone and thanks for all the bargains and tips and camaraderie!

Thanks also to @Sideorderofchips @Reastie and @hugsandpugs for thread organising!

It’s my second year in these threads, (different username last year), and I really enjoy reading about everyone’s bargains, etc.

Hope everyone has a lovely Christmas 🎄
