I'm taking a punt here that we won't need another thread before Christmas, but feel free to prove me wrong!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Stock informer is a handy site http://www.stockinformer.co.uk/default.aspx?fullsite=1

Camelcamelcamel is a great amazon price tracking tool http://uk.camelcamelcamel.com

The following links compare price products including postage
www.find-book.co.uk
www.find-cd.co.uk
www.find-dvd.co.uk
www.find-game.co.uk (as in PS4/xbox etc)

Has anyone with a missing sock shop order actually heard from them? I had a dispatch notice on 11th but it’s never reached Royal Mail and I’m getting nowhere with the live chat and can’t find an email address for them, they said days ago they would investigate and email me but so far haven’t

I’ve not received my order either. I’ve not been able to get anywhere with that Royal Mail tracking. I’ve already accepted that the gifts will need to be replaced, and I’ll need to return the order when it eventually arrives. So disappointing

Could someone let me know which converse are in the deal please? I can't find them on the site.
Thank you 🙏🏻

The cream and black ones, and I think the leather ones, get discounted a further 50% at checkout, so down to about £20.

HopefulBeliever · 21/12/2024 14:04

Finally received my elf order that came with the free eyeshadow pallete. Received no dispatch confirmation or tracking email and it was only when I contacted them they said it had been at my local post office to collect for a week - apparently you’re meant to be psychic! Really like the colours though, so was worth the wait.
If anyone spots any great Kerastase deals please let me know.

I've had to keep a couple of presents right to the wire this year.
My brother and his wife are notoriously hard to buy for but he's also just had surgery; plus a couple of work friends.
Plans are (open to ideas or better suggestions hence the post!)

  • brother and wife restaurant vouchers for somewhere in Liverpool- I'm thinking the titanic
  • gin from Amazon so it gets there in time to my friend who lives the other end of England to me
  • last work friend is a tee total Coventry fc supporter so if I can figure out the Etsy deal I'm thinking a football mug
?
CarrotVan · 21/12/2024 14:10

I haven’t posted on these threads but have been lurking.

in a previous year pewterhooter on Amazon have been recommended for earrings - Austrian crystal and silver or gold plate usually. They’ve got some good discounts at the moment and delivery before Christmas

Couple of lightning deals on Amazon if useful?

Thanks @HopefulBeliever I've gone with the first one you posted and also thanks to whoever posted the little live pets thing as I have birthdays coming up!
Now to try and figure out the Etsy code!

Where has reasonable priced medium sized gift bags, that I could get in person today? About the size of a Sainsbury’s/Tesco/Asda “bag for life” (formerly known as a carrier bag)?

I’ve seen huge ones in Lidl, nice but too small ones in Asda and Sainsburys, and massively expensive ones the right size in John Lewis.

It’s for grouping together family presents, so carrier bag sized would be perfect.

Home Bargains have some lovely ones. Lots of different sizes. Think they were mostly under £1.

Perfect! I can’t believe I didn’t think of them, and I’ll be right next to a store this evening.

Thank you. This is why I love this thread ❤

Sorry, I am full of questions today.

Has anyone managed to use the Amazon Co-Op £20 off £60 voucher that they had as a promotion last week?

There were a few items where as a “promotion” if you purchased them you were emailed a promo code for £20 off a Co op order via Amazon. When I try to use it, it says it’s expired, yet according to the email the dates seem to be fine.

I tried Amazon via chat but they took and passed me around three different departments.

Would anyone mind pointing me in the right direction for a nando's gift card. Didn't have any in sainsburys so I guess I'll have to buy it online. Not sure how it works, so appreciate any advice. Thanks.

I've seen some in asda

MilkyBadBoy · 21/12/2024 19:12

Did anyone who got the TV times (not Radio Times) however many copies for £1 deal actually get anything delivered? The website (mymagazine.co.uk) suggests I’ve had copies already but nothing received as yet… seems like a con.

IlovePond · 21/12/2024 19:29

Hi, kids’ Xmas pjs reduced in my local Aldi tonight.

Also, Bluey plushies and some rechargeable h/w bottles.

Givealittlebit · 21/12/2024 20:36

I've got a littleone with a jan birthday and a husband with early feb, so hanging around to keep an eye out for possible bargain gifts!

fishfingersandchipsagain · 21/12/2024 21:05

Trying to buy wrapping paper, gift bags and sellotape today was like trying to buy toilet roll in 2020. It looked like the shops had been stripped bare! Finally got wrapping paper in Aldi, who had plenty.

MaybeItsJustTimeToStop · 21/12/2024 21:35

Not very festive but topcashback have £5 back on a £50 iceland spend.

Yes I did this offer, have had the first one through without any problems.

Etsy also do nice Christmas decorations with pictures of your preferred football stadium on quite cheaply.

Bippityboppitybooo · 21/12/2024 22:52

I see bilibos were mentioned a lot a few years back - does anyone rate them for young kids?

Clucket87 · 21/12/2024 22:56

If anybody is interested in getting a Beats Pill speaker, I've just managed to get the "limited edition " Kim Kardashian one in dark grey for £80.99 at John Lewis.
It's down to £89 but they have a code if you have a JL account. I've wanted one of these speakers for years, so I'm very happy as it's about 45% off. The limited edition one was £149 and only came out in October.

Better yet, I had it sent to a local shop and they are saying it will be there on Monday! Xx

IfyoushouldmeetaCrocodile · 21/12/2024 22:57

Yes! Both of mine absolutely loved their bilibos, fantastic for spinning (small adults can do it too), turtle shells, carrying toys around, stepping stones e6tc etc. Endless fun and still look new after 10 plus years of play, so definitely recommend.

Tesco had nice ones. Various Christmas scenes in the large ones and smaller Grinch ones. That’s what my kids have for Christmas stockings this year.

I’ve just re read your post and realise you are actually looking for gift bags. It’s the Tesco bags for life I’ve bought!

pinkksugarmouse · 21/12/2024 23:20

BOOTS Buy 2 get 4 offers a range of gifts and you can treat yourself - might make good stocking fillers or secret santa gifts

I treated myself to 2 full size Sanctuary spa body washes plus an extra for DD and the green Ted Baker body spray

If you have trouble finding it online search Ted Baker. Click on it and you can look for everything on the offer.
