I have no idea what thread number we're on now Blush

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Ladies, this is the first year I've followed these threads and enjoyed them enormously, had plenty of bargains and I think it'll be a new Christmas tradition for me ❤

Having said that, I need help, I'm twitching hard over one last thing for my 3 and a bit year old. I'm after something under £20 he can play with by himself (so no board games), no more vehicles, nothing really noisy, he's already got gravitrax jnr, loads of duplo and Brio. What's been a hit with your kids of this age, anything really cool? Not so fussed about bargains at this stage plus you've all already saved me a fortune 🙏

Kinetic sand? My daughter loved hers from age 2ish and still plays with it at 5

I know I am VERY late to the party on this but is there still a deal on sock shop loungewear please?

Agatha, I'm a bit late replying, but I screenshoted the original offer (which I think is still on) Here it is:

ETA: there's also free 24hr tracked delivery and a free gift when you spend over £40

noodledoodler · 17/12/2024 21:50

Heads up re the glossyboxes which were 5 for £25, I have just opened the cardboard outer of the first one to pop it into a gift bag only to find there's no inner glossybox, just the contents wrapped in tissue paper so don't open the cardboard lol

BadgerFace · 17/12/2024 22:00

Apologies if this tip has been shared already but many moons ago a much wiser than me Mumsnetter recommended buying bags like this to wrap presents in to cut down wrapping time.

I bought two patterns in two different sizes and have been using for each child for 5 years for stocking presents. So much easier than wrapping in paper plus so easy on Xmas eve to know which presents go where… and I think the number of bags I have will do me for at least the next 5 years… So whichever poster the tip is from, Robert and I salute you, and hope it’s a helpful tip for other posters!!

That is a great tip. It takes hours wrapping and sticking tiny fiddly things for stockings!

Revolutionised wrapping presents for me.

Londonmummy66 · 17/12/2024 22:45

On the wrapping bags front - I use fabric drawstring bags that will last for ever - sites like the clever baggers sell plain bags in a multitude of colours plus iron on decals to decorate the with

Does anyone know if there is likely any kids junior size pjs in Lidl at the mo? Had a text from the school today to say DD’s school can wear Xmas pjs in for the last day on Friday. I have bought her some but they are already wrapped in with a load of other stuff and there’s no way of telling which is what without unwrapping some of it 🙈 Had a look in my local Asda this morning and none there.

On another note, been doing some present wrapping today and realised I have somehow bought two sets of the beat the parents game for my DS. Not sure what to do with the spare now 😂🙈

Most supermarkets have a toy basket that they ask customers to fill each year for charity. That might be a nice thing to do if you have noone that can use it.

I thought i was done but now need a gift that can be delivered direct for a man and teenage son budget £25.
I also need suggestions on how to present my daughter and son in laws present i have arranged a family photoshoot for them as they have just had their first child.
Thanks

My daughter has bought printed 'vouchers' on Etsy to give in lieu of the actual gift. I think you can get pretty much anything made to suit and not expensive.
