Thread ?17? the one where I've lost count

I have no idea what thread number we're on now Blush

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

I've loved these threads so far, thanks everyone.

My sock shop order got lost in transit so they've refunded me as they've sold out of the crackers. Can anyone recommend any other crackers as now I'm quite set on doing something a bit different. Need them to be bargainous like the sock shop ones though...

Also looking for a Chromebook or android tablet for a 7 year old that can cope with homework but also apps like solar smash.

I suspect my order is also lost! Got a despatch email on 11th and it’s still saying Royal Mail are awaiting parcel, I live chatted today and they’ve said check again tonight 🤷‍♀️
last order arrived the next day so I’m not hopeful

Does anyone have any recommendations for a cuddle cushion (adult size) please? I'm sure I've seen them mentioned on previous threads

Seen them in Dunelm Tesco Costco recently

My despatch email was also from 11th and Royal Mail are saying the same thing. Frustrating.

got a cuddle cushion from Dunelm for DD a couple of years ago, and she uses it daily, so from that point I'd recommend. But delivery was a bit of a mare I recall....

After buying a few things like the Deans shortbread hamper from earlier threads (thank you, btw, fabulous value!), I dropped off the threads as I thought I was done. But now my 7 year old decided to buy his big sister a little present, which is very sweet of him, but I'm having trouble finding a bargain for what his sister wants to get him in return. She wants to get him a bundle of lego mini figures - specifically droids or clone troopers. But she only has a tiny budget😕

I seem to remember a website that sells "lego" mini figures that I originally learnt about on these threads a few years ago and have ordered from before but I can't remember it. Can anyone enlighten me?

I also need something small for my close friend to open. We actually decided to go away on a city break together instead of buying each other gifts but we're seeing each other as part of a larger group near Christmas and I want to get her something small to open, but I'd rather it not be something to generic like biscuits or chocolates, but I'm stumped.

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 17/12/2024 18:14

@SeeTheBatsFly could she get something like this?

Argos clone troopers

beetr00 · 17/12/2024 18:17

@SeeTheBatsFly

Could something like this fit your spec £6.75?

actually, @Justhereforthechristmasthreads suggestion looks ideal 😊

Any ideas please for sons new and first serious girlfriend - have only met her a couple of times she is 16 and at college andby Christmas will g go ace been dating for 3 months.

Budget - probably up to £30 max

No idea what she is into - has long hair, doesn't wear much make up

I was thinking an initial necklace ? But maybe too personal ?

Like PP said, jewellery a bit personal.

My 2 DS had girlfriends at 16 & 17, & then both at 18. I went for combinations of:

Nice PJs
Voucher for place they liked (food/ cinema)
Clinique/ Benefit mascara
Boots gift card
Uni supplies

What about a beautiful tree decoration for your friend? The ones I've received over the years are precious to me.

Ladies, this is the first year I've followed these threads and enjoyed them enormously, had plenty of bargains and I think it'll be a new Christmas tradition for me ❤

Having said that, I need help, I'm twitching hard over one last thing for my 3 and a bit year old. I'm after something under £20 he can play with by himself (so no board games), no more vehicles, nothing really noisy, he's already got gravitrax jnr, loads of duplo and Brio. What's been a hit with your kids of this age, anything really cool? Not so fussed about bargains at this stage plus you've all already saved me a fortune 🙏

Mine liked a water drawing mat at that age - like this https://www.argos.co.uk/product/3495502?istCompanyId=a74d8886-5df9-4baa-b776-166b3bf9111c&istFeedId=30f62ea9-9626-4cac-97c8-9ff3921f8558&istItemId=ixwlipiqq&istBid=t&&cmpid=GS001&_$ja=tsid:59157%7Cacid:629-618-1342%7Ccid:20368907733%7Cagid:%7Ctid:%7Ccrid:%7Cnw:x%7Crnd:14108517335079146361%7Cdvc:c%7Cadp:%7Cmt:%7Cloc:9045894&utm_source=Google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=20368907733&utm_term=3495502&utm_content=shopping&utm_custom1=&utm_custom2=629-618-1342&GPDP=true&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiA34S7BhAtEiwACZzv4Vi9G0h_ekIK6Cc8Zjr7kPZj_NgMw01Gbf5drEu4JriJGzv4DtTgwxoCUN0QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

I ordered from spectrum of misconception (which was recommended here) a couple of weeks ago, I've not had a delivery notification and when I try to email it bounces back as undeliverable. I've sent a message via their website but not heard back from that. Have other people received their orders from here?

I ordered a suffragette mouse the first time round and it did arrive but about 2 weeks after the order and I didn't get a confirmation. It was very well packed though.

I don't know if it will work as may be account specific but looks general: FAHLOBDAY for 20% off

Aw amazing thanks @ChristmasJumperz will give it a go ☺️

Slime & Playdoh are the only things for mine that worked then and still does now!

Since 4+ the magnetic sets have worked to keep them busy but younger than that they couldn't get them to stick.

Stickle bricks might be good?

beetr00 · 17/12/2024 18:55

@BeaLola this is useful

Flat lay make up bag £22.99

Londonmummy66 · 17/12/2024 18:58

@BeaLola top of budget but how about a Dior lip oil? If you order direct you can get it engraved for free, its beautifully packaged and you get a couple of free samples too https://www.dior.com/en_gb/beauty/products/dior-addict-lip-glow-oil-Y0124000.html?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiA34S7BhAtEiwACZzv4fMxq8BlosrSTj_lcvZjPt73L8F72PIGWPkAzn3osW_ZpZS9ysyLuxoCDbAQAvD_BwE#pink-lilac

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 17/12/2024 19:19

Dior Lip Oil is a great shout as lip oils are big with that age group now and a totally luxe version of something you always use is an always good.

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 17/12/2024 19:23

@cymrumam could you put a voucher for the photoshoot in with something like this?

Lego camera

I know I am VERY late to the party on this but is there still a deal on sock shop loungewear please?

I have to say, I am really pleased with mine, they are super comfy!

Thanks. I found their Facebook page and messaged on there, just had a reply that order was dispatched today so should arrive in time for Christmas 🎄

Joiedepotato · 17/12/2024 20:03

Thank you so much to each and every one to replied to my post about something for my 3 year old, I appreciate all of you. I have had magnetic tiles in my basket for a while but he loves to play with them at his grandparents house and I thought ultimately I'd leave them as a special toy there. I think @Londonmummy66 has it with the water mat, he's very into painting at the moment, well under £20 and my local argos has it for collection at 9am tomorrow, thank you!!! 💐

NWnature · 17/12/2024 20:06

If anyone is buying stocking fillers for people who were into the Wicked film, the co-op has the special edition sparkly squash down to 31p each. Bit niche but maybe helpful!

For the teenage girlfriend, I think avoid jewellery and I would go for higher end toiletries gift set or maybe a nice candle. John Lewis or Space NK probably both a good shout for browsing. Charlotte Tilbury dry oil masks are good along with some fluffy socks or sheepskin slippers perhaps?

sherbertdibdab · 17/12/2024 20:08

Evening all, on a previous thread there was a fantastic list of surprisingly useful but unusual kitchen gadgets. Of course I didn't need it at the time, but now I do, I can't find it. Can anyone help?

I suspect my order is also lost! Got a despatch email on 11th and it’s still saying Royal Mail are awaiting parcel, I live chatted today and they’ve said check again tonight 🤷‍♀️
last order arrived the next day so I’m not hopeful

I just checked mine, thanks for the reminder! I’m getting the same message, despatched on 11th using RM24, so should have been delivered next day!
I hope it comes, there are 2 Christmas gifts in the order, and I thought that was me done, I really don’t want to have to go out shopping again!
