I have no idea what thread number we're on now Blush

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Anyone got a code for the Spicery? It’s my first order

LESLEY-262635 gets you 10% off hope that helps

Would love any ideas for a nearly 90 year old Nan!

She doesn't "need" anything.
Doesn't like chocolate, flowers, gets loads of smellies each year. I try and get something different (we do spend time as the most precious gift) to make her smile and thought of but this year I am drawing a blank!

Does she wear glasses? I have the same issue with me Nan and this year got her a personalised glass cleaner cloth with images of the great grandkids on. Very fast delivery

LetMeJustCheckMyCitrusPocket · 14/12/2024 16:56

@ClaraLane that's so very kind of you to offer, thank you so much. I've checked and I think they possibly had it previously but I really appreciate your kindness anyway 🤗

Not a problem at all, I know what it’s like when you can’t find what you’re after! I’m seeing Father Christmas in Jarrolds next Saturday so I’ll see if it’s there and if so I’ll drop you a message. Bill and Bert’s in Colchester might be worth a try too?

Eggmcmuffin · 15/12/2024 08:42

Can anyone recommend a Charcuterie type gift, vacuum packed meat that doesn't need to be in the fridge, preferably from a smaller company. Bargains would be a bonus!

YouCanLetItGo · 15/12/2024 08:44

@Broken12 that's a good idea, thank you! Could also get one for another grandparent.

YouCanLetItGo · 15/12/2024 08:53

@LetMeJustCheckMyCitrusPocket not sure how much the ramen bowl is usually? There is one on Vinted that randomly comes with a hoodie for £45. You could always make an offer?
If it's a popular one or hard to get you do usually end up spending over the odds.

Anyone know if there are any Hotel Chocolat discount codes? Want to get some boxes for mums carers and have left it last minute and afraid I might have missed all the good deals 🫣

I had a similar problem with my 82 year old DM. In the end I got her a photo cushion from Snapfish with photos of us and the grandchildren on. It's not particularly beautiful but she'll like it. There's probably a discount code and cash back available too.

fishfingersandchipsagain · 15/12/2024 09:25

@YouCanLetItGo potential ideas:

Nice tea towels (eg whistlefish or ulster weavers)
Nice socks (the Seasalt ones in a box are lovely)
Book of puzzles eg crosswords
Amaryllis bulb kit
Paperwhites or hyacinths in a nice container
A big box of something she likes as an “everyday treat” eg I get my dad a huge box of tunnocks teacakes
Photobook of the family
Digital photo frame loaded with family pictures

Bird feeders and bird food.
I know you said she gets loads of toiletries but what about dusting powder - comes in a round box with a soft fluffy powder puff for application - my 93 year old mum loves those.
Other things that have gone down well with her were a pretty new lap tray, a tissue box cover and chocolate liqueurs - specifically Mon Cheri as although not normally a drinker she quite likes the odd cherry brandy..

My grandma used to love a People’s Friend or Yours annual or a subscription so she’d get magazines through the post.

Morning all, could I ask please if anyone knows of any way to save money on Monsoon?

One of my twins has asked for a Unicorn dress from Santa, and I've found a nice one on there for £27!!!! But I'd probably buy one for both twins (with the issue being that one is in age 7-8 clothes and one is in age 10-11 clothes) so I'd love a bit of a saving if possible!

Hi all, does anyone know any ways to save money on the Lego shop? £150 set seems steep!! It doesn’t seem to be many other places other than in-store in Smyths

Have you signed up for their points card? Cannot remember if you get a welcome percentage off for that. You do get £5 for your birthday to spend in store.

44PumpLane · 15/12/2024 10:17

@fishfingersandchipsagain thanks so much for the code- every little helps at this time of year so really appreciate it!

Lego is the special offer today through Quidco, £20 cashback bonus plus 3.5% cashback, which might help?
