Posting on behalf of @reastie hope you don’t mind 🎄 🎅

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.
It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.
Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!
@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps
A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:
It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
No affiliate links
No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
Be nice or leave
If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes
The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.
To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk
Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)
So starhellostar would look like this.
hello
Obviously use the * not the word star
Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work
Stock informer is a handy site ^http://www.stockinformer.co.uk/default.aspx?fullsite=1^

Anyone ordered from Home Bargains in the last few days?

I'm just wondering what the delivery times have been like.

Ordered Secret Santa stuff from Poundland on Wed 4th and it was delivered earlier.

Ordered from HB on Thur 5th and not had a single update and it's got wrap for SS.

I'm not so fussed about the delivery times but I like an update at least 😂😂

Thanks.

I ordered on the 3rd December, it came yesterday so yours shouldn't be long!

Just wondering if anyone can recommend a phone holder to go in a car please? I need one for my son now that he's started to drive, so that he can plug his phone in and use it as his satnav. Either the holder needs to be one that fixes into the vents or onto the windscreen but one that he can take out if necessary as obviously as a teen boy the phone is welded into his hand most of the time - just want him to have somewhere/somehow safe to fix it in the car when he's using it in there - but changeable so that if he wants to put it into a different vehicle (he sometimes has to use a different one) he can move it over or take it out if someone else is using his car...

There are loads of them on Amazon, eBay and a host of stores from Halfords to Curry's and more, so just wondering if there's one that someone can recommend as being sturdy, safe and reliable at a reasonable price as well as being ergonomically sound.

Many thanks!🎄

Can anyone suggest somewhere to get a fluffy fleece, men’s size please? My DS had a kids one from Uniqlo that he’s outgrown but they don’t seem to have the fluffy snuggly ones in men’s sizes at the moment.

Or there's a more Christmassy Pug Single Duvet cover set...

Xmas Pug Duvet Set

There are quite a few more on Amazon...

Thanks so much I did look at those but unfortunately they wouldn’t arrive till Janurary x

Worth checking the sale out on Oddballs. Just managed to get DS(13) a towel, two wales boxers, a pack of three mystery boxers bundle, DS(11) a pair of boxers and a free bobble hat worth £20 for free.

unidays has got 25% off which works on sale so managed to get it all for £40.65 including free tracked delivery

Quidco also have a £5 bonus when you spend £15 on eBay. (I double checked this time - definitely Quidco not TCB 😀)

hugsandpugs · 10/12/2024 11:38

Oh and ODDBALLS are doing extra 10% off with the code SANTA10

I didn’t know I needed a heated mousemat until today!

are there any actual brands of these? I never buy unknown electronics as it’s such a roulette for safety and Amazon seem rife for it.

kkr168 · 10/12/2024 11:41

@paintyhands
The lavender violets kits on amazon are really good, I've been using them myself for months.

Ooh!

I gently enquired about when to expect my Dean's bargain hamper (and green-hatted gonk), and it has been dispatched, expected delivery tomorrow.

Woo hoo!

I have minimal things to sort now.

I'd like something model railway (00 gauge) for DH. Can't decide what to get. He has the basic layouts, locos and carriages already.

What period of time does he model eg steam or more modern? Does he have a preference for passenger or freight trains? There's various accessories you can buy such as model shipping containers for freight trains/freight yards.

Alternatively you could get advance tickets for a model railway exhbition where he can get inspiration and choose something for himself eg tickets for the big show in Glasgow in February: Model Rail Scotland

please tell me he has a Volkswagen up/ Skoda citygo / seat mii
they have cradles that fit where the sat nav goes and are great.

Steam. He has a Lowland loco, the Santa Express, a couple of general older locos (similar to the Edward shape) and a Percy.
A couple of carriages and a few trucks.
Currently, all Hornby.

I was thinking about freight possibly, as he loves playing "train delivery" with the children.

HI, has anyone seen Fortnite merch in an actual shop rather than online? Struggling to find much! Thank you.

Strangely I found a great Tshirt in Primark. I NEVER shop in there, but a friend told me they had stuff. It's official merch & lovely & thick. Kids' dept & goes up to age 15-16 which should fit my DS who I usually buy men's small for as it looks generous.

Sunshine415 · 10/12/2024 12:09

my ds has just revised his letter to Santa, asking for beyblades and a beyblade arena.
I thought I was done with present shopping! I’ve never bought these before and they seem pretty pricey for what they are…
does anyone know any good deals or where to look for them? Thank you

butterflymum · 10/12/2024 12:13

@BourbonsAreOverated , not mouse mats, but could any of these be adapted to work (no experience of them, but Beurer usually an okay make, plus they are being advertised by the RaynaudsDisease website):

That was a bargain! I've used Oddballs a good, few times, especially since my older DC both play rugby.

The towels are excellent- substantial but thin enough to fit in kit bags etc & wash & dry quickly. Also perfect for any DC at uni- drying towels can be a right pita & DC1 reports his Oddballs ones are most used due to this.

The underwear is great quality.

I've got the women's version of this one and it's lovely and fluffy. Have ordered the men's one for my DH as he keeps stealing mine!
