Posting on behalf of @reastie hope you don’t mind 🎄 🎅

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.
It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.
Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!
@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps
A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:
It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
No affiliate links
No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
Be nice or leave
If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes
The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.
To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk
Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)
So starhellostar would look like this.
hello
Obviously use the * not the word star
Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work
Stock informer is a handy site ^http://www.stockinformer.co.uk/default.aspx?fullsite=1^

Has anybody seen bargain gym /weight listing trainers?

Also gym bags

Thank you

Some of the best shoes for weight lifting are Converse trainers, if you can find a bargain. I have a birthday code that might work but it only comes off full priced items.

PlanBea · 07/12/2024 15:33

@Lidlisthebusiness just jumping in here to say, you are absolutely smashing it no matter what the state of the wrapping or how many gifts end up under the tree. I can't imagine the year you're having, but I hope you have some peace and happy memories on Christmas morning ❤️

Can you get DH to arrange Amazon to deliver everything? How about those wrapping gift bags to just put everything into rather than having to wrap everything individually? (I definitely saw some on Must Have Ideas but I'm sure they will be in other stores). I'm sure other people will have other practical suggestions too, but I'm sure it will all come together

Help! I can't think of anything to get for MIL and her partner. Have some shortbread from the Deans hamper but out of ideas. Don't drink, play scrabble and enjoyed the Thursday Murder Club book but buy any books straightaway so books not an option.

Any bright ideas?

Off the top of my head, a Netflix subscription as the film adaptation is due on there next year?

IlovePond · 07/12/2024 15:40

@Lidlisthebusiness I’m sorry to hear things are so difficult. Could you buy some things from Amazon and add the gift wrap option? Or places like SpaceNK will put things in a nice box for £1 extra and it’s free gift wrap at L’Occitane atm.

It’s not probably that helpful for kids’ presents, but might help a bit.

Right DB and DSIL to buy for.
Friend at work got me onto Nio cocktails so ended up with a 9 box for black Friday and there's 45% off a 6 box on vodafone today so I bought those too.
I am thinking one or 2 nio cocktails, plus some chocolates and a cool pair of socks each. Keep having bare kind advertised to me: https://barekind.co.uk/products/new-save-the-badgers-bamboo-socks
They look cute but anyone have experience or better recs for nice socks (wondering about the sock shop calendar if it's still there but would like nice patterns rather than plain)
I think most other pressies are in hand strangely but sure I will remember some that aren't!

The sock shop calendars have some funky designs in them! I am really loving mine.

Cantthinkofadifferentname · 07/12/2024 15:52

Does anyone want a single use 20% off code for Lakeland?

BarryKentPoet · 07/12/2024 16:01

Could someone PM me with a vodafone code for the cocktails please?

Bryna · 07/12/2024 16:07

Chocolateteabag · 07/12/2024 14:12

@Bryna - I've got my farmer uncle and brother boot/shoe dryers from Amazon - the Dr Prepare tall black ones

Then the Snowpea ones (with Alice Beer reco) for my running brother as he just wears trainers

@Chocolateteabag thank you have ordered these, he grows Christmas trees, so when they need pruning water gets everywhere! He has waterproof trousers, that I have already bought, but these will be good for drying his work boots!

LOpportunityCestFuckingEnorme · 07/12/2024 16:13

A warning for those of us who bought the bargainous House of Fraser wrapping paper etc last January - I got out the parcel last night - I had completely forgot about the Christmas hats, they'll be brilliant for Christmas jumper day at school - but then I found DH this afternoon trying to make paper chains out of the pull bows. Obviously he was finding it quite difficult 🙄

CatCatCatCatCatCatCat · 07/12/2024 16:20

Anyone intending to pick up the free boots mascara, don't rely on the stock checker too much. My local boots shows as having it is stock on the website, went there straight after checking, only to be told they ran out hours ago.
Might be best to call ahead if going out especially for this offer.

IlovePond · 07/12/2024 16:37

Deans shortbread has arrived - no damage - it’s all lovely. I did have to chase my order up, but they came good in the end.

I think they might have substituted a couple of the small packets, but the tins are exactly as described on the site.

Very pleased. Thank you to whoever posted the deal originally.

chocolatepudandchocolatesauce · 07/12/2024 16:40

@Cantthinkofadifferentname would theLakeland code work on already discounted items?

NoForwardingAddress · 07/12/2024 16:41

Has anyone else had issues with White Fox? I ordered my niece joggers and a hoodie on 28th Nov. Still no dispatch. Status on my account just says "unfulfilled". I emailed customer service 3 days ago, and no reply yet 😑

Starting to think it isn't coming, but I'd appreciate some contact from WF so I know whether to look for an alternative.

MamaClausToTheRescue · 07/12/2024 17:16

Just wanted to second what someone else said above about the Nio cocktails being good for male recipients. (And female of course but we don’t struggle with women quite so much!)

Last year I bought a bunch of them and split them up for my very fussy brother (who has extremely high standards) and some men in my team. They were very well received and I know a few people went on to order them again.

follow the instructions re serving and they do taste like the kind of proper cocktail you’d get served up by a mixologist - strong and tasty.

However, if you’re ordering from Nio take note that you will save on your first order if you use a referral code. I have one which I’ll add to the last page of the referrals board as I can’t remember what the deal is but I know last year the referral code got me something like three individual cocktails for about £10 delivered, so worth checking out.

TimPat · 07/12/2024 17:21

I remember there being chat about electric wine openers on previous threads but skimmed over it as it wasn't on my list at the time.
Am now thinking it would be a great gift for FIL, he's in his 70's and has a slight tremor but still enjoys volunteering in the church social club so i think it would be useful for him.
Any recommendations? Thanks!

Is it for the nio cocktails? If so you’re welcome to have my code if you still need it. I don’t drink alcohol so no use to me 😂

@Cantthinkofadifferentname Yes please to Lakeland code, need to get DS a heated blanket for his freezing student house! Thankyou

IlovePond · 07/12/2024 17:34

@TimPat - I think it was Cuisinart, who had one for £20. The ones on their site now start at £40.

beadyboo · 07/12/2024 17:35

I need to buy a number of sporty items from Sports Direct. There is a space for promo code so I’m hoping they do them occasionally. Anyone know of one which would give a small percentage or free delivery? Also, are they easy for returns?
H&M have an offer for members to buy a £30 gift card and get £5 for themselves if that helps anyone.

Lidlisthebusiness · 07/12/2024 15:11

@pinkchampagne1 I'm usually so on the ball with Christmas. This year I'm all over the place. My Mum had a massive stroke in July, somehow she survived, but she's always been my partner in crime at this time of year. Stores presents, helps wrap etc. She's now in a care home so aim visiting her regularly, I'm now carer for my Dad who has dementia, so he can't help. I have 5 children, am 7 months pregnant, and my husband works abroad and isn't home until the 22nd!

How I'm going to manage it all, I just don't know.

Oh I am really sorry to hear about your mum. Sounds really tough for you. 😞
