Our decs are up but the outside lights will be put up today.
Currently sat on the sofa with the tree lights twinkling, coffee by my side and a Christmas film playing in the background. Looking forward to a sunset dog walk later to see people's lights before a nice roast dinner 😊

Christmas duvets on & Christmas tree going up. My 10yo is very excited this year which is nice as we've had a rough 12 months with close family bereavements

Muchtoomuchtodo · 01/12/2024 10:29

Getting the advent calendars out

BigcatLittlecat · 01/12/2024 10:32

I've wrapped 24 little presents for my Mums advent calendar! She lives by herself so she has a little present every morning through December! Just little things, but it's made me feel Christmassy!

LushLemonTart · 01/12/2024 10:32

@hby9628 sorry to hear that. I hope you have a lovely day.

Tree up today and christmas throws on the spare beds. Adult ds2 is in the forces and lives here when home. Ds1 stays occasionally. And dgcs stay now and again.
I might see if I can buy some new decs tomorrow. I work in health care and work has decorated so well it's made me fancy making more effort.

LushLemonTart · 01/12/2024 10:33

@BigcatLittlecat that's so nice. Is she with you christmas day?

TeamPolin · 01/12/2024 10:35

Tree going up today and we're going to a local stately home this evening to look at the Christmas light display 😊

Witchywoo41 · 01/12/2024 10:38

@BigcatLittlecat thats lovely.

I put the decs up yesterday, just having a cuppa then heading out to the local Christmas market for a wonder round and a mulled wine. Just me and dh because teens don’t want to come 🥰🥂

have a lovely day everyone

CandyCane457 · 01/12/2024 10:41

Love it!!

My tree is already up too, and I’m currently in my pjs watching a cheesy ch5 Christmas film, drinking hot choc! Heaven!

At 4pm me and a group of 7 friends are going to a pub for a roast dinner and a Christmas quiz.

Hudders3 · 01/12/2024 10:41

@hby9628 sorry to hear, i hope you have a nice day with your 10yo

Were having a full-on Christmassy day!

I've done the (very contentious) 1st December box for DC, consisting of Christmas puzzle, new party season outfit and advent calendar.

Christmas duvets will be going on, Christmas tree going up, gingerbread lattes and hot chocolates will be consumed (until it's an acceptable time to break open the mulled wine) while Christmas carols play and when we're finished, the mince pies will be opened and the first Christmas film of the season will go on.

It's almost as exciting as Christmas Day itself!

Helladelinquent · 01/12/2024 10:43

The elves have arrived! Bringing advent calendars, new Christmas book, Christmas jumpers and matching pajamas. I do a December box instead of a Christmas Eve box.

Peridot1 · 01/12/2024 10:43

We put the outside lights up yesterday and I planted two empty planters either side of the front door with red cyclamens and ivy and it looks really nice. If I say so myself! Glad we did it yesterday as it’s chucking it down here this morning.

Later when DS is up we will get the boxes of Christmas decorations down from the loft. There are a lot of boxes! And we will hopefully bring the Christmas trees in from the garage and get them up if not decorated. I’d love real trees but I’m allergic so fake it is.

Will do an advent candle display somehow and have the first mulled wine of the season.

Hudders3 · 01/12/2024 10:43

@CandyCane457 sounds perfect - can't beat a pub roast!

Nothing here.

We don't put our real tree up until Christmas Eve, with family if they are here and then off to a cathedral service.

I love Christmas Day and more so the relaxed time between then and New Year. Christmas days out, usually to a beautiful stately home, films, log burner, twinkly lights and candles, left over Christmas food, people calling, forest walk. a family meal out, again if they are around. Perfect.

RedVelvetIcing · 01/12/2024 10:46

Lovely roast dinner and we will watch a Christmas film this evening. Christmas trees are already up, I have got the advent calendar out for my daughter but today will be low key I think.

I have been ordering some presents this morning but it’s hard to believe we’re already into December.

AllstarFacilier · 01/12/2024 10:54

We put our tree up yesterday. I’m trying to think of things to do with my older teens in the lead up to Xmas.

Opuntia · 01/12/2024 10:54

Had the step dcs here this weekend so did the first lot of turkey (we love turkey!), did the advent calendars with everyone and I've started doing the decorating inside.

We've got an outdoor Xmas tree - a blue spruce - and decided this time not to get an indoor one (mainly because we have to fit in 15 people for Xmas lunch and the tree is in the way!) so I have some outdoor lights that I'm putting on that today

Going shopping later to do everyone's stocking

OrangesCinammonIvy · 01/12/2024 10:54

Still cleaning!
However out door lights can go up

MrsMontyD · 01/12/2024 10:59

I've got some Christmas candles on the go, I've put the gingerbread man soap dispenser out in the loo and I'm wrapping presents in front of the telly with a mug of tea and a blanket on my knee.

researchers3 · 01/12/2024 11:26

Nothing!! It's too early!!

CrushingOnRubies · 01/12/2024 11:29

Buying the wrapping paper and maybe the baileys !

EdithStourton · 01/12/2024 11:30

I plan to spend the afternoon writing Christmas cards in front of a roaring fire.

Other than that, I have just totted up how much I have spent on Christmas presents etc in the past month 😬

BigcatLittlecat · 01/12/2024 11:39

LushLemonTart · 01/12/2024 10:33

@BigcatLittlecat that's so nice. Is she with you christmas day?

Yes! And we have a couple of lovely little trips planned before!

Lentilweaver · 01/12/2024 11:42

Going to Fortnum and Mason's to buy a couple of gifts!

mynameiscalypso · 01/12/2024 11:44

This is a lovely thread! We had advent calendars this morning and I've just put some Christmas bedding on DS' bed. It does all feel quite early but DS is at the absolute perfect age for Christmas (he's 5) and I want to make the most of every one of these years. DH is working today so DS and I will brave the black friday madness to go and buy some Christmas decorations in the shops.
