Thread 15 - the one where IT'S DECEMBER!

One more sleep until December!! Get your Christmas duvets, stollen and mulled wine and the ready as the festive season is well and truly here!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Stock informer is a handy site http://www.stockinformer.co.uk/default.aspx?fullsite=1

Camelcamelcamel is a great amazon price tracking tool http://uk.camelcamelcamel.com

The following links compare price products including postage
www.find-book.co.uk
www.find-cd.co.uk
www.find-dvd.co.uk
www.find-game.co.uk (as in PS4/xbox etc)

Are you the first to post a bargain to put away for next year already? 🎄@ArthurChristmas22

Buy a Gift has a £15 off £15 spend

JHW831710NG

I used it on a Gousto Box voucher - only seems to work on the £22.99 one though but five meals for four people for £7.99 is a bargain as I was going to sign up to Gousto again for Christmas week anyway!

Just want to make sure you've seen that it signs you up to a gousto subscription which you'll need to cancel to avoid further charges.

I can’t remember who was looking for the Ninja air fryer but check Sainsbury’s. £200 to £119 in my local one today. Only one on the shelf.

ArthurChristmas22 · 04/12/2024 16:13

@bigchanges1 might not be the first either but some people are so much easier to buy for than others (looking at all the men 🤣).

Are there any crafters out there? My DD 19 has just got into crochet, we will have crochet everything for Xmas! I'm looking for a project/craft bag but they all look like a flashback to a different time, quite old fashioned. I'm looking for something like the Roka equivalent!!! Any ideas?

MrsWinterby · 04/12/2024 16:17

Was there mention of fancy/nice teas a few threads back? Can I have some recommendations please?

rhubarbhandsoap · 04/12/2024 16:27

@ArthurChristmas22 I do cross-stitch so the kit is smaller (as far as I know) but I find clear plastic make up bags (in various sizes) really hand for storing stuff so I can see it. That can then in go inside any bag.

For a dedicated project bag there is lovely stuff on this site, I’ve never ordered from there so can’t recommend personally but maybe worth a look?

to pp about fahlo bracelets. it doesn't matter which QR code you put with the bracelets, they are just ordinary bead bracelets. the tracking element comes from scanning thr QR code and downloading the app. i put the bracelets in little organza bags to make it look a bit more special.

still an extremely popular gift with my teens & adult siblings!

Just tried the buyagift but says not valid 😞

Same happened with me at first it’s a O not a 0 or vice versa

hugsandpugs · 04/12/2024 16:45

Theraffarian · 04/12/2024 14:38

@BrieCamera can you let us know if the Gousto one works , as the small print says it’s only for new customers and I’ve run out of emails etc to be a new customer !

Actually just tried the code on a few things and cant get it to work anyway unfortunately

Edited

The code is wrong the 0 is a O or vice versa- can’t remember which now but that one digit made a difference.

I had to set up a new customer account to get the gousto deal to work but thankfully it eventually all went through ok in the end!

Is there a time limit to use scan the code once you receive your order? Sorry if that’s a stupid question but I’ve just discovered 2 bracelets from an order I made last year and clearly forgot about!

StrawberryThief1930 · 04/12/2024 16:47

I don't know? they are very good at automatically allocating a new animal of the tracker stops working for any reason. my DD is on her 3rd dolphin! i reckon they would work 🤞

sassyduck · 04/12/2024 16:48

Sorry if it's been asked before but is Notino a legit website?

Thanks for this. I actually emailed them too to check and they came back within about 15 minutes. Extremely happy with them. They look so lovely and I’m quite excited to give it as a gift.
thanks for replying to me, really appreciate it.

It was ME and another PP. Thank you for this. It's the bigger one I'm after, but thank you anyway ❤️

Anyone found a great deal on men’s underwear?

Always, always TK Maxx, in-store if possible, but some online.

I have DP & 2 grown DS & I never buy anywhere else. Always loads & loads of choice of brands/ length/ style/ design.

DS's absolute favourites are Columbia active ones I got in there 2 years. He looked for more online & they were hard to find/ ££ (£35-40). Last year I almost yelped in joy as they had them again for £15. I'm hopeful again this year 🤣.

rhubarbhandsoap · 04/12/2024 17:27

@BrieCamera just got my Gousto box - thank you!

@hugsandpugs thanks for figuring that out about the code!

🙌🎄

So Asda have just refunded me by email after not delivering my bargain stitch Lego set. Pretty cross about it so will ring and complain tomorrow, has anyone else had theirs cancelled?

Shesellsseashellsontheseasure · 04/12/2024 17:36

Does anyone have an Argos code pretty please?

Theraffarian · 04/12/2024 17:37

Can anyone point me in the right direction, I need to buy two cinema tickets for this weekend , either Odeon or Cineworld . Now being a cheapskate , I would normally either use Meerkats two for one , but that’s not valid at the weekend , or my banking app which reduces them to half price , but for some reason that’s not working at the moment .

Does anyone know of any others discounts I can use at the weekend ? Thank you muchly .

Do you know anyone with Vodafone rewards? I think they do/did an Odeon 2 tix deal.

Anyone who is gifting the Fahlo bracelets, these are perfect size boxes:

I gifted the bracelets at a Christmas meal and made these into fancy name place decorations adding holly sprigs etc. They looked lovely.

@watchuswreckthemic in the spirit of bargain hunting- it is very easy to make your own adventure passes on canva. Their free option is good but they also have free trials for pro- I made my parents a great boarding pass for a trip. Found an already made design on there by typing in boarding pass and then customised it.
