Thread 15 - the one where IT'S DECEMBER!

One more sleep until December!! Get your Christmas duvets, stollen and mulled wine and the ready as the festive season is well and truly here!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Stock informer is a handy site http://www.stockinformer.co.uk/default.aspx?fullsite=1

Camelcamelcamel is a great amazon price tracking tool http://uk.camelcamelcamel.com

2 Smiggle advent calendars for £18! At that price it's worth buying to put away for next year or break down for cracker presents/ stocking fillers.

You can actually buy them individually for almost the same as well. The standard one is £8 and the Harry Potter one you can get with a tote bag for £10.50.

I am hesitating on the £8 one for next year because it's all I want and postage is £5 which makes me grumpy!

ruralwanderer · 04/12/2024 08:23

If you sign up to the newsletter you'll get 20% off which may offset the postage enough to soften the blow?

I got 2 lovely Isle of Skye candles last month but I need another candle now. They don't seem to be doing any offers currently, does anywhere else have a bargainous candle offer currently?

If anyone is looking for bamboo socks the sock shop have their advent calendar which includes 25 pairs of socks down from £59.99 to £29.99.

You can also get an extra 10% off with the code Socknews10.

There is also free delivery and a free gift of your choice with orders over £40

Thanks for this! I managed to spend the first 35 years of my life without a sock advent calendar and since joining this thread last year I've now had two 😂

I added a 3 pack of Christmas socks for DH who would wear them on Christmas day but a whole advent calendar would be too much, and then made up to free delivery with the 5 for £5 kids socks (I think I ended up with 7 for £7?)

How funny! My 7 year old asked for the same! What on Earth. No advice here - I did go on eBay and picked up a lovely retro one for £30.

That is funny, and reassuring, I thought mine was the only one! I’ll have a look at eBay, thank you!

Mistletones · 04/12/2024 09:57

Anyone found a great deal on men’s underwear?

unclebuck · 04/12/2024 09:59

@TopThreeFTW do you mind telling me how you got in contact? They are ignoring my emails and I cannot find a chat or phone number. Thanks so much

Distractiontactics · 04/12/2024 10:00

Can anyone suggest where I might be able to find a lovely but good value Christmas wreath, please? It can’t have fresh foliage as it’s for the house of a relative who has gone into care so won’t be around to deal with it if it starts to look shabby, but I’m trying to make sure the house doesn’t look abandoned by being the only one on the street that’s not decorated.

PlanBea · 04/12/2024 10:04

For anyone who missed the earlier furblets, some of the colours are now £6.67 in Argos, better than when I twitched at £7.50.

The Argos website says "was £10, now £6.67. 25% off" though which is some dodgy maths 😂

No worries! Yes I know what you mean - so every additional pair is a £1 each after you’ve added the initial 5?

Yes! That’s a far clearer description 😁

Chocolateteabag · 04/12/2024 10:12

@Treetopps - there are a couple of Imperial typewriters on Vinted too

Thank you so much for this! I wear sock shop socks , and I’m running low, and now I get to open a third advent calendar - what a win!

No probs! I had my first pair delivered from them yesterday via my Vodafone rewards and have to say they are lovely to wear so considering ordering some more! 😍

No probs! I am seriously considering ordering one of the advent calendar socks for myself 😂🙈

I had underwear, socks and lounge pants delivered from there yesterday. Wore them all last night after a shower and OMG so comfy! esp the lounge pants!! Comfiest pj bottoms I’ve ever worn so considering ordering more with the lounge pants offer that they still have on 2 for £20!

dottyaboutstripes · 04/12/2024 10:37

I can't see the 2 for £20 offer on lounge pants? Is it a code?

LOUNGE20

can mix and match with the tops too so basically any of the womens/men’s loungewear.

Also stacks with the 10% off Socknews10

My Deans hamper that I ordered on 24th arrived today. Disappointed to see two of the tins are damaged. Packaging isn't great for a hamper either. Thankfully I'm splitting it but really wanted one of the damaged tins for me 🥲

MamaK19 · 04/12/2024 10:48

Has anyone come across anything similar to this men’s beauty box at a reasonable price? Was a star buy in boots but sold out 😭

Can anyone tell me delivery timelines from the Night Store please? I ordered PJ's on 23rd, payment went out on 25th, but no update and no delivery yet. It's the last parcel I'm waiting for and am getting anxious!

Stelmosfire1 · 04/12/2024 10:54

I’ve ordered 2 men’s lounge sets from sock shop and used nhs discount of 15% which took it below the £40 for free delivery so ordered some cheap socks to make it up and got a free pair of boxers! Thanks for the recommendation for the loungewear will be ideal for difficult to buy for DH and son who lives in his pjs 👍

One of my tins has been compressed and dented so god knows what the biscuits inside will be like.

I bought 2 of the mystery HP balls from Argos last night. They're on the 2 for £15 offer, plus SAVE10 gets an extra 10% off so got them both for £13.50/£6.75 each instead if then usual £9.99.

I’m sure they will be pleased as they are sooo comfy! I’m gonna order some for DH, already had some for DS which came back yesterday. I’d happily live in mine if I could they are that comfy! Even better that you got 15% off on top. I’ve just noticed some pug socks on there that I hadn’t seen before 🙈 so they’ve now winged their way into my basket!
