Reastie · 09/11/2024 06:18

Thanks @CalliopePlantain for the title. Lord of the Rings rubber dick anyone?! Grin

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Popped into Dunelm to pick up some Christmas bedding and saw these huge ducks which I thought were quite cute and a good price. Also they had bags of bath toys for £5. Sadly my two are too old for these (hence Christmas bedding shopping for something a bit more grown up! 🙄)

In return, where would be the best place to pick up bargain Vans? The pair DS has picked out are £53 on the Vans website and I could get Blue Light discount for 20%, is this the best I can do?

I have also had that email - I don't want the order without the free gift, so am going to ask them to cancel my order, or will return it if they won't cancel.

That’s a terrible offer of compensation from Olaplex! . The free gifts were worth £22 using prices on their site (£16 for bauble and £6 for sample). In order to achieve that discount with a 15% off coupon you’d need to spend £146.67 more. No thank you. I will also be cancelling when I get the email.

Howmanysleepsnow · 12/11/2024 19:51

Has anyone ordered the nyx advent calendar from very and received it? My order was wrong- 3 lip glosses after paying £52. There are 2 reviews who got the same. DD really wants it, but I don’t want to reorder for it to happen twice

Same here it's not a great deal and so annoying, they surely know how many items they have available. Will likely cancel too when I inevitably get the email!

Is this a legitimate site?

Yep. Many many wine openers and mixers have been bought from that sale by thread inhabitants.

tealdrop · 12/11/2024 17:20

The items in my Claire’s basket have doubled in price now the BOGO offer is on (they’d been half price for ages), so the new offer isn’t any better. I can’t get it to work on just two items either.

I had the same and it was as they were on cyber deals and some other offers were not included

fishfingersandchipsagain · 12/11/2024 20:12

WimbyAce · 12/11/2024 18:43

How do you do this?

To get the £5 voucher from Claire’s?

If you join “Claire’s club” and log into it there are a bunch of things to do to earn points e.g. add your date of birth (hint, if your birthday happens to be next week you’ll get an extra voucher). Once you have done enough of the things it will convert (usually overnight) into a voucher in your account.

I think you also get a voucher just for joining, but it’s been a while since I did it.

WoollyMammoth1 · 12/11/2024 20:19

@Famousthehero
That cat is super cute! Nearly bought it just because it's so adorable 🙂 But then got my sensible hat on and didn't
It's in my Amazon basket just in case though

beetr00 · 12/11/2024 20:21

@Babynumberthreeee

Definitely it's Cuisinart, quite a few MNers have taken advantage of this fab warehouse sale originally posted by @yoshiblue in October

yoshiblue · 20/10/2024 17:42

Take a look at the Cuisinart website
www.cuisinart.co.uk/sale.html

I've just picked up a mini food processor for £20 instead of £50/£60 on Amazon.

They had a few household things in their sale including a 4 in 1 automatic corkscrew, kettle, waffle/pancake maker etc.

Mine are full priced notebooks (that were half price before!). I’d ordered them previously but they didn’t turn up due to being oos.

tootsnwoocake · 12/11/2024 20:26

Glossier have an offer of 3 for £30 on their lip balms just now. They are popular with teen dd and her friends. The lip balms are normally £16 each. Free delivery too.

HeadOfGregor · 12/11/2024 20:29

Famousthehero · 12/11/2024 19:04

My order of this £13 cat plush came today and I know my dd will love it; it’s the size of a real cat and weighted, so not the usual stuffed feel.

I really really shouldn't buy DD any more cat teddies, we have enough to open a sanctuary but this is very cute I'm sorely tempted

Edited

I've stopped shopping with Claire's due to this. Ditto Frasers. Most of my gifts have come from Vinted this year.

God damn it 😂

I did not need the “mini prep pro” I just ordered. I already bought a stand mixer, toaster and bottle opener the first time this was posted! 🐏

(I do hate chopping onions though)

daisyboo1 · 12/11/2024 20:30

Does anyone have an Argos voucher code please? I gave one away on here yesterday and now I need to get a replacement hoover!

@daisyboo1 you kindly gave me the argos voucher was just about to use it today but i found what I needed cheaper on amazon in the end so yours is still valid 😀

I can’t keep up this year so not sure if already posted but if you search O2 priority for ‘handmade Christmas co’ they’re doing the £1.50 personalised ornaments again. I’ve never had Priority before but had to search to find it.

Saying that, if anyone isn’t going to use their code I could do with a spare please ☺️

You can have mine?

Serenitesanta · 12/11/2024 20:52

Muddyandwet · 12/11/2024 17:26

They are £29, but are sometimes reduced to £23. I'm not sure if the referral code works with the reduced price, but with the £10 off from using someone's referral code, even without the sale price, they are £19 delivered. That seems reasonable to me, if it's something we can reuse every single year.

It's rare I feel that something is an actual bargain, but I'm delighted. Here's the link: https://www.bloomandwild.com/send-flowers/tagonly/trees-wreaths (but do make sure you go to the referrals thread and use a referral link so you don't miss out on the £10 discount.)

Hi
ive just looked on the site and there is a 25% discount on app orders. Wonder will this stack with a referral 🤔. I’d check only I don’t have time to look for referral thread

Babynumberthreeee · 12/11/2024 20:55

Thanks everyone, was just slightly concerned by the amazing price drop!

I checked out but didn't have my card reader and abandoned it til later, just got an email with an extra 10% off

HEYTHERE10

(Cuisinart)

daisyboo1 · 12/11/2024 20:57

Oh @thisgirlloveschristmas2024 that's great! As long as you're sure you don't want it? I honestly gave it to you thinking I didn't need it. Sod's Law!

Do you have to be logged in to see the 25% off? I’m looking in the app and not seeing anything. Thanks
