Had an email from Lidl saying they have 50% off sale starting on Thurs 5th on all their ‘middle of lidl’ stuff. Can see some items included, homeware etc, as well as twister splash game down to £5, but not the full details of what they will be stocking…

Thanks for mentioning this - I was only saying to my DH this week I wondered if they would be doing it again this year. We got some bargain headphones and kitchen bits last time.

GirlWithTheYellowHat · 03/09/2024 09:57

@captainjacksparrow I see some on vinted, not sure if they prices are better than eBay?

workworkwork123 · 03/09/2024 10:45

Aarrrgghhh gutted I missed the My Little Pony deal.

ChristmasMad1 · 03/09/2024 11:17

Does anyone know if the Lego retro radio or Lego shadow head will be on sale before Christmas?

Aarrrgghhh gutted I missed the My Little Pony deal.

Yeah same!!

Though actually more gutted that I went against the grain and sent it to a family member to buy and she missed it and is now asking me for another idea for the same sort of price as the sale. Gah!! Usually I buy the things and get the money from people but everyone says they'd prefer to buy and wrap for themselves...think this is going to be painful 😅

Arthien · 02/09/2024 09:10

People who do the "make your own" Yoto cards - is there a nice way to label them, add a picture or something for a non-reader?

@Arthien I use a Canon Selphy printer to make stickers but only because I already owned one and realised I could. If not I would probably buy from Boots - as others do. Sometimes if I am making one in rush for my own kids I just write on the card with a Sharpie or use the sticker that comes with the cards.

Solmum1964 · 03/09/2024 11:52

@MtClair my son's (now 30) have always felt hard done by if they didn't receive socks of some description in their stockings!
Sometimes they have been normal socks but more colourful than normal or with characters they like to help match them up. Other times they have been sports/cycling/football socks - a bit nicer than they would buy for themselves.
More recently my husband has also received some in his stocking too! 😂😂

MtClair · 03/09/2024 12:09

@Nestnearlyempty thanks for the ideas!!

mickandrorty · 03/09/2024 12:11

I'm not sure how cheap they were last year in sales but Posca are 25% off at HobbyCraft at the moment

MtClair · 03/09/2024 12:12

@Solmum1964 my dh loves socks for Christmas.
A few years ago, I got him a sock subscription and he is still happy to receive his once a month pair of socks.

Oh no. That is gutting. Hopefully another similar offer comes along.

Not sure if already been posted but spotted on JL this morning, also price matched at amazon. Lovely gift for babies/todlers

Thank you! I’ve just ordered this for my daughter and wondering if I should get one for my nephew too, I think it will go nicely with the Tiger Who Came to Tea jigsaw book :)

This is a long shot but if anyone can help it’s you guys.

Dd2 recently got a bundle of Betty Spaghetty dolls from a charity shop and has fallen in love.

they seem to be mega £££ on eBay etc. I am not on Facebook. Any ideas where I can get her a little bundle? Preferably for the same price of £2 that we found in charity shop 😂

I just looked on Vinted and can’t see any bargains but it might be worth keeping an eye on there too just in case any come up. I’m assuming this set’s no good as it seems to have missing limbs!

Lolandwoody · 03/09/2024 13:13

I'm sorry I know it's been on here before but does anybody know the website for football kits please?

Solmum1964 · 03/09/2024 13:21

@MtClair A sock subscription? I didn't realise that was a thing! Off to investigate.
Stockings for DC last year also included some seam free underwear - apparently Morrisons used to do some but I've never seen it so had to pay more than I really wanted; the Hive game recommended on here; a Crimpet also seen here; toileties that they like but more expensive than they would normally pay and some chocolate and a book.
Not quite sure when I should stop doing stockings 🤔

Im really struggling for my eldest this year. He's an adult with autism and likes various things but because he's liked them for over a decade he already has most gift buying options.

I used to go with a few foodie gifts too but he's piling weight on lately 😭😔 (but I need to tread carefully there or he could go to the other extreme) so I'll buy a couple of food gifts but not lots. He's tonnes of toys, figures, mugs, t-shirts, caps, Funkos, etc. He doesn't drink alcohol, doesn't go to concerts, isn't into designer brands or aftershave etc.

The other problem is he never throws anything away so I'm also aware he has an ever increasing collection of "stuff". Toys, books, and items related to his interests (mario, Lego, smg4, Mickey Mouse, Ghostbusters, Marvel, Splatoon, etc)

I usually spend the bulk of his budget on a big fancy Lego set, but he's still at that you get stage where he likes presents to open, and has a much you get sibling who will have lots of toys to open.

It's so tricky!! Anyone else have a similar situation or have any ideas?

Edited

I've seen a really lovely idea where you can make a patch-work bedspread/wall-hanging from old cherished T-shirts that have become too ragged to wear (the theme I saw was band T-shirts, but this would also work for any interest that had a design on a T-shirt).

Its obviously loads of work and you'd need to be handy with a sewing machine, but seemed like a lovely idea...

I guess a less-work option would be buying a new special interest T-shirt with a nice design and stretching it across a canvas to create a piece of art for him to put on his wall?

flouncymcflouncerson · 03/09/2024 13:51

Forgot how much I used to love and appreciate these threads so joining super late!

The boots changing bag has sold out already sadly, looked lovely too!

BaublesRocking · 03/09/2024 14:13

@Solmum1964 I'm never going to stop giving DS a stocking, even well into adulthood!

I do buy expensive things to go in there though so it's most of his presents really. Like aftershave, gaming cards etc

SnowJamz · 03/09/2024 14:39

DD keeps asking for a toy box of chocolates. Has anyone’s DC got some or seen any online? I’ve had a look but only seen one on Amazon and others are on Temu and similar and don’t want to buy from there.

sillygoof · 03/09/2024 14:40

Never, surely??? I do one for everyone in the house, plus my sister who I haven’t lived with for more than 20 years.
