I've seen a really lovely idea where you can make a patch-work bedspread/wall-hanging from old cherished T-shirts that have become too ragged to wear (the theme I saw was band T-shirts, but this would also work for any interest that had a design on a T-shirt).

Its obviously loads of work and you'd need to be handy with a sewing machine, but seemed like a lovely idea...

I guess a less-work option would be buying a new special interest T-shirt with a nice design and stretching it across a canvas to create a piece of art for him to put on his wall?

You can also get photo blankets from the usual photo gift places I think

Does anyone know what time the Lidl 50% sale will start on Thursday, I could get there for when they open , but didn’t know if things would have been put out then , or if I should go later . It’s across the other side of town from me , so not somewhere I go often , thanks in advance

Usually it's all there by opening time, but this possibly could vary by store

@sillygoof @BaublesRocking stockings just seem very personal and I wouldn't want to overstep boundaries.
Both DC have partners but don't seem to be at the stage of spending Christmas with them yet. When they do, if they then want to do stockings for each, I think that would be the time for me to step back!

Thank you for the toy chocolate box suggestions. Seem thin on the ground. Yet there are loads of toy biscuit sets!

Yeknom · 03/09/2024 16:52

Re: Lidl 50 per cent off...do you think it's off everything like last time? From the app it suggests it's just certain items (a couple of a garden furniture sets, coffee machine, ladies top) etc. Then the small print says

Not very christmasy but nephew has asked for Doc Marten boots already. Do they ever get discounted? Where is best to find them?

Has anyone any suggestions for a Bluetooth device with headphones for my 7 yo to listen to music on? We don't have tablets. He wants to listen by himself (shares a room with little bro).

Thanks

ItLooksLikeReindeer · 03/09/2024 17:32

Boots have a couple of their dreamland heated throws on half price https://www.boots.com/dreamland
with the code dreamland50. I’ve just picked two up for presents for £70

I've just tried this but the discount says invalid

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 03/09/2024 17:41

Same

ShinyPrettyThings87 · 03/09/2024 17:44

DREAMLAND50 write it all in capital letters, that's how I got it to work

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 03/09/2024 17:48

@ShinyPrettyThings87 thank you so so much, my father will be so thrilled.

The Yoto mini (and I assume the standard Yoto) can pair with Bluetooth headphones. Our 7 year olds love theirs. It does necessitate us either having the MP3s or ability to make MP3s (CDs) to put music on the cards, unless it’s music that’s available via the ready made Yoto cards. But I think that will be the case with any device unless it’s just a radio?

ShinyPrettyThings87 · 03/09/2024 17:51

@Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse no problem at all ☺️

And thanks for the heads up @ItLooksLikeReindeer I'm quite excited to have my first heated throw!

Wholetthedogsoutwhowhowho · 03/09/2024 17:58

I received one of those dreamland heated throws last year for Xmas and it's by far my favourite ever gift!!

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 03/09/2024 17:58

indeed, thank you
@ItLooksLikeReindeer also for spotting such a bargain.

I’ve been in my local Lidl at 7.45am before, and the tills had not yet been updated with the Thursday offers. They had to manually apply the discounts which took forever.

hby9628 · 03/09/2024 18:56

@Livinginacatdictatorship thank you for that link. I've looked at these in our local shop & they are over £50 for the garden one. My DD loves Lego & also books so I think the book shop will be a gorgeous alternative to Lego for her to build

okayhescereal · 03/09/2024 18:57

I LOVE THIS THREAD!!!

hby9628 · 03/09/2024 19:00

Oh wow. That heated throw looks amazing too. Problem is I could buy one for each member of my family! Who to pick 🤷‍♀️
