The men were out in force today panicking

😂In town today to get nails done and boy were those men panicking - in any shop with a sale sign even Hobbs and Weird Fish holding up things looking at them , putting them down and then picking them up again. Do women really want men buying them clothes? I feel like pushing them all into Boots - at least there is a chance of getting something semi decent from the Beauty section! 😂

Dh said to me this morning that my pressie won’t arrive by Christmas. I just replied with ‘well you should have ordered much earlier then’ 🙄… It’s like Christmas is a surprise every year!

My husband is a hopeless shopper and in previous years has delegated to his sister. This year I pre-empted that by buying myself some glorious boots on his debit card and telling him how well he'd done. I wanted them for the cold snap so even saved him the trouble of wrapping them by wearing them a month early 😆He's thrilled that he's saved himself a job and I'm delighted that I've got a present I really want.

WandaWonder · 23/12/2023 09:10

I saw lots of men and women shopping, how do you know they were panicking and not just shopping like everyone else?

Mumteedum · 23/12/2023 09:11

Have you seen Flo and Joan's Christmas Dad's song? Xmas Grin

Dh often buys me something to wear for Christmas. He's pretty good at it. I think I've only once had to change it. Also, it's me that's the disorganised one this year, as I've been really busy with work and not had time. Getting a few last presents today and haven't finished wrapping the rest!

TheYearOfSmallThings · 23/12/2023 09:13

It's not just men - I still have most of my shopping to do Grin

SnowRoomAtTheInn · 23/12/2023 09:14

My DH was ordering my present on our joint Amazon account last night. Every year!

Bar one dreadful incident, my husband is excellent at buying me clothes. It's easy as I like in jeans, hoodies and trainers.

DD is working on a beauty counter in JL this year. The wild-eyed men have been out in force the last few days.

CanaryCanary · 23/12/2023 09:16

DH rang me from the big Tesco last night to ask if I need new pyjamas. Or a hairdryer. Or maybe some books?

In the early 2000s I worked in the City of London. Walked past Jo Malone at 8am one Christmas Eve and it was full of blokes wandering around and looking at stuff and wondering what to buy.

Mine too!

He really has an eye for what looks good. Yes, he has picked something I wouldn't, but he's never wrong that I'd look good. So I always wear

stepintochristmas1 · 23/12/2023 09:20

I do believe there are some women panic shopping too ! My husband will be collecting the turkey tomorrow , no panic .

🤣 Reminds me of that scene in Motherland when Julia's useless husband does that!

lemonyellows · 23/12/2023 09:22

I will be out later too for a couple of presents. Not panicking. Just shopping.

Newgirls · 23/12/2023 09:22

Full of men in town yesterday and one being very rude in boots to the lovely check out man who runs the tills. Quite often a man would be carrying just one bag - cardboard with ribbons type so clearly only had to buy for partner. Didn’t see any laiden down with big bags

GreatAuntMaude · 23/12/2023 09:24

My 16 year old only finished school at 1pm yesterday so his Dad is taking him out today. It's a ridiculous date to finish on, the poor staff.
My 13 year old finished on the 15th, way better.

SavBlancTonight · 23/12/2023 09:25

Actually, dh's ability to do last minute Christmas shopping is my secret weapon!!! I do most of it in advance, lots of online etc, then he takes over and does his family any random bits in the last few days. I can't cope with the craziness at this point!

Trusttheprocess1 · 23/12/2023 09:26

My ex used to start on Xmas eve afternoon and finish when they flashed the lights to signal they were closing!!!

verylongday · 23/12/2023 09:27

I used to work in a small clothes shop. Every xmas eve without fail we would get wild eyed men come in clutching a small bit of paper. It always contained details of something his wife had seen in the shop 6 weeks ago. As we were a small shop we only had one of each size per style. Complete panic once they realised said item had been sold. The relief when we said we did gift vouchers. Every bloody year.

One memorable year a man came in requesting " red slacks" for his wife. It transpired she'd worn a pair 30 years ago that he really liked.

I went into town yesterday and the queue of men outside pandora was ridiculous. Have they got no imagination other than to buy yet another charm until the bracelet is yoo heavy to lift?

Tinselunderthetv · 23/12/2023 09:31

The queue for Tiffany’s at the Royal Exchange is hilarious, all men. The champagne bar should start selling drinks in the queue.

BrutusMcDogface · 23/12/2023 09:32

I’ve wrapped everything and realised that one of my four children has a smaller pile than the rest, so I will be out either today or tomorrow getting her some more presents.

every year I say I’m going to do it better (buy much less and be more organised) and every year I kind of fail! Oh well.

toomanyleggings · 23/12/2023 09:32

I’m at a nail appointment and dh keeps ringing me because he wants to go shopping. In fairness he only finished work yesterday and he’s terrible at online shopping

God, everyone I know who works in schools is saying that. It's like they honestly don't realise that most people work right up to Xmas day every year.

BrimfulOfMash · 23/12/2023 09:38

Last year my Ds had a holiday job in a high st jeweller. He said he could sell anything at any price to the wild eyed men and they made tons of commission on one day.
