So what time tomorrow shall I hit the supermarkets?

Will it be heaving?

When are you going?

It took 90 minutes to exit our 'town' tesco yesterday 🙄 this was at around 9.30 am

Mammyloveswine · 23/12/2023 08:52

I was in aldi at 7-15 this morning! Was great! All sorted now!

Pushkinini · 23/12/2023 08:57

We've done ours now. Aldi and Tesco are two minutes drive so we left at 7am. Got the bulk in Aldi, the rest in Tesco, then went to the butchers to pick up the turkey and bacon. Back home for a bacon sarnie by 8.15. There were a few others with the same idea, but neither supermarket was busy.

SausageCasseroles · 23/12/2023 10:04

So tesco was busy at 8-9 am as in felt busy to me but car park fine and they had every till open so no queing which is a result

Lidl was empty!

sainsburys 8.30 to 9am this morning qas a bloody nightmare. not that busy but such empty shelves. no lemons, no salad, no big creams, no coleslaw, no tinned fruit. argh.

Mirabai · 23/12/2023 10:06

Bread sauce is easy to make.

AzureBlue99 · 23/12/2023 10:08

Went to a Waitrose and a big Sainsbury nearby at 8. Back home 8.45. No queues but Sainsbury's was in a state of disarray. Not well stocked, still putting stuff out.

shearwater2 · 23/12/2023 10:15

Done mine today. I'd say 7am - 8am, but they don't open until 10am tomorrow. Hence why I went today.

Sainsbury's were still down to the last two packets of streaky bacon at 7.45am and didn't have any other - normally they have smoked, unsmoked, and a cheaper one or more expensive ones. And no pancetta at all, I was actually after that. No ciabatta either but managed to get something that looked suspiciously like ciabatta rolls called white bread rolls - does stocking anything with an Italian name offend people after Brexit?

Also no cocktails sticks (and this is a giant superstore). Had to order some on Amazon. Is no-one going to be making cocktails or small canapés? There didn't even appear to be a space for them on the shelf.

HurdyGurdy19 · 23/12/2023 10:47

It's just come up on my Facebook memories, that six years ago, we went at 3am. Very civilised, no crowds, shelves fully stocked. In and out quickly and the rest of the days to relax.

I don't know why we never did it again though.

Jacfrost · 23/12/2023 13:05

Arrived at the big Tesco at 10:45. Drove straight in, parking space immediately, plenty of trolleys. Much of the shop was barely busier than usual although a bit more chaotic around the meat, cheese etc. Everything well stocked. Straight into the conveyer belt at the checkout.

Honestly this thread had me panicking a bit...perhaps most people went yesterday?!

Serene135 · 23/12/2023 13:15

Your post made me laugh @Justmuddlingalong 😂

inappropriateraspberry · 23/12/2023 13:20

I went on Monday 😆

HalfasleepChrisintheMorning · 23/12/2023 13:26

DH has been to little Tesco twice since I posted we were all done at 7.45 this morning.
Forgotten:
Sour cream
Grated cheese
Cheese sauce
Foil

Overhauler · 23/12/2023 13:30

I’ve got my m&s collection to pick up between 3-3:30 this afternoon

I have a list of around 10-12 items I would like to get but nothing that is essential, mainly some fresh fruit

where I’m going also has a sainsburys so I’m hoping to get everything in my list with little hassle. I am walking as it’s only down the road so no need to worry about parking

WimbyAce · 23/12/2023 13:43

I did my normal weekly shop time approx 1130/12. Morrisons was dead, quieter than a normal Saturday. No probs parking, some rows had no customers, no queuing at the tills. Was all rather lovely, people were even having a little sing as they went round.

MakeTeaNotWar · 23/12/2023 16:50

Is anyone planning on going tonight? Our local Asda is open until midnight but I wonder how stock levels would be

loopsngeorge · 23/12/2023 17:43

I am in a bit! Got a sainsbury's delivery coming but it's missing a few bits and we haven't got a turkey yet! Can't decide whether to play turkey roulette again and hold out for a Christmas Eve discount but there didn't seem that many left on Waitrose earlier....

HashtagShitShop · 23/12/2023 19:43

Went back today to asda for some unneeded stuff about 3 (aka: to just pick up a George order officially 😂) and it was alright. Scan and go, normal or less crowd level and all out within 45 mins after a nose around the shelves to see if there were anything we fancied or any discounts/anything in the clothes sale
