Do you wrap the stocking presents?

The story in our house is that presents in the Christmas stockings are from Santa. I've just realised that this means that I need separate wrapping paper for those presents especially since DD (7) picked the wrapping paper we've got at home herself this year and she's got a memory like an elephant. I don't really want to buy more wrapping paper though because we've already got tons at home and it will be difficult to get an opportunity to nip out without DD.

i do feel that wrapping adds to the anticipation and fun of presents though (even though not so great from an environmental point of view)

I'm Not even sure she still believes in Santa but she's very keen on keeping the illusion going I think so I don't want to ruin it for her by being inconsistent.

I just can't remember whether I wrapped them last year or not but it wasn't an issue.

What do you do in your house? Are the presents in the stocking wrapped?

Always wrap the stocking presents, using different paper.

autumn1610 · 22/12/2023 13:52

I wrap some of the bigger things but small bits like chocolate coins etc no

ramonaquimby · 22/12/2023 13:52

Same. Kids are all older teens , no longer have to hide their Santa wrapping paper haha

housethatbuiltme · 22/12/2023 13:53

nope, the stocking is essentially a gift bag/wrapper in itself... like a lucky dip.

balancingfigure · 22/12/2023 13:55

Yes wrapped in our house with a separate set of paper. DD commented when she was only 3 or 4 that Father Christmas had the same paper as us! Then either hide paper for following year or give away.

It’s not very economical or efficient though but I tried to maintain the illusion. Not so worried now DD is 16 🤣

stargirl1701 · 22/12/2023 13:55

No. It's environmentally wasteful.

Comedycook · 22/12/2023 13:55

Always wrapped

pinkspeakers · 22/12/2023 13:55

Yes. And back in the day when the kids were little, we used to use one paper for the present from us (the main present) and one for stocking and other presents. And I used to keen that paper hidden. Actually, two papers, a different one for each child.

pinkspeakers · 22/12/2023 13:56

I managed to get the same rather lovely Father Christmas paper for a few years!

gerteddy · 22/12/2023 13:57

Santa presents are all wrapped in the same paper but different paper for each child. Presents from family are under the tree. The stocking presents are not wrapped. I draw the line there my girls have lots of presents to open so stocking is unwrapped.

tealandteal · 22/12/2023 13:58

Yes for the kids(young enough to believe) in different wrapping paper but we do little stockings for the adults which are not wrapped.

sleepD3pr1ived · 22/12/2023 13:59

Nope never wrapped stocking presents.

ThinkingAgainAndAgain · 22/12/2023 14:00

Yes, in tissue paper. Much more
forgiving. I buy it in 50
sheet packs on Amazon.

SquigglePigs · 22/12/2023 14:04

We don't wrap stocking fillers. It just seems like such a waste of paper.

SausageCasseroles · 22/12/2023 14:09

Absolutely santa Wraps here!

So one paper (usually a cheap 99p one from tescos) for stocking presents from santa.

Another colour for paper from us, presents by the tree.

SausageCasseroles · 22/12/2023 14:09

I think for my kids unwrapping all the little bits is part of the christmas fun.

drspouse · 22/12/2023 14:10

Hell no.

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 22/12/2023 14:10

No way- the stocking and sack are the wrapping

SnowflakeSparkles · 22/12/2023 14:12

I wrap the toys and more substantial gifts, and leave all of the sweets or anything that is already nicely packaged 😊

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 22/12/2023 14:13

No - never. Growing up stocking presents werent wrapped so Santa does the same for my kids 🤶

Psychoticbreak · 22/12/2023 14:13

When smaller no cos the actual gifts came in bigger packaging but now they only want new phones so to make it that bit longer i wrap all the tiny stocking fillers. I usually regret starting but they love it.

Always wrap the stocking presents, using different paper.

Yup this. Cheap very easily opened and loosely wrapped wrapping paper

psuedocream3 · 22/12/2023 14:14

Never wrap stocking presents here, we keep it traditional. A stocking is the wrapper!

They open their stockings in their rooms, extra wrapping apart from being hugely wasteful, would mean bits of wrapping paper found for weeks after stuffed down sides of beds etc.

SnowflakeSparkles · 22/12/2023 14:14

Oh yes last year I did a mix of wrapping paper and tissue paper and it was fun. It also made it much easier to wrap the awkward bits. I forgot this year but they like having a mix of stuff to pull out, stockings are there favourite bit tbh!

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/12/2023 14:16

Santa brings small pressie and stocking

I don't wrap stocking pressies but do use different paper for Santa present

Usually buy from cardfactory as can buy a sheet or two depending on size so no wastage
