Iv gone and put my tree up

Yesterday, I was sitting at home and kids started saying they wanted the Christmas tree up. Normally, it goes up about the 20ish of December- so quite early by most people's standards anyway!

But, I don't know what came over me. It's all up and decorated. Now, I'm sitting here cooking a Sunday roast and booking Christmas activities Grin

Let the Christmas cheer begin!!

I'm jealous OP.

rdgaisnhyg · 05/11/2023 13:22

The tree definitely won't be coming down early. I like it up for New Year's Eve and New Year's Day and then take it down. Due to the day I go back to work it will come down on the 6th/7th January Blush

Tucking into my Sunday lunch with the Christmas tree twinkling! Glad I'm not the only one! Had a delivery earlier and the delivery man gave me a bemused look as my hallway is decorated too Grin but he didn't say anything.

it costs about 15p to run Xmas tree lights for 6 hours a day for a month. I know she’s living recklessly but assuming she’s happy to blow that 30 p. 😂

I didn't realise it was so cheap, I have three sets of fairy's on my tree usually and assumed as I have it on a lot in the day and all evening it would add quite a bit on.

How totally depressing.

That somebody you don't know has done something which doesn't affect you in the slightest?

OP seems pretty happy tbh. As s/he has to look at it, I'm failing to see the problem.

Lovebeingamummy2 · 05/11/2023 13:47

So excited for Christmas I can't wait to decorate! Good for you OP and@CanIPutTheTreeUpYet 👏 x

LadybirdsAreFab · 05/11/2023 13:48

Mine won’t go up until the end of November, used to be mid December, then beginning of December. It fluctuates depending on when DH is home. Reading Nigel Slater’s The Christmas Chronicles which is lovely. I’m overseas so nice to read about snow & traditions in this season.

She needn't bother broadcasting it on social media then. But as she did, people will react.

What is depressing about cheerful Christmas decorations?

Iamnotastick · 05/11/2023 13:54

Yay!

Too early for me, I put mine up on the 25th November so I have a nice month countdown to Christmas. To me its a season, not just a day.

DappledThings · 05/11/2023 13:56

Why the blushing face? That's the entirely correct day to take it down. The embarrassed face emoji should be for anyone who takes it down anywhere between 26 December and 5 January (inclusive)

PurpleChrayne · 05/11/2023 14:01

Madness.

Ibizabar · 05/11/2023 14:02

Why would anyone be embarrassed about putting up and taking down decorations when they choose in their own house?

I'm confused as to what you think social media is.

Mytinyman · 05/11/2023 17:18

No, if you put them up now, you’d spend max a pound all in.

LadyBird1973 · 05/11/2023 17:49

I'm not quite there yet, although I did put up a Christmas picture today - have been rearranging things in the house and had a wall space that was lacking a picture. And I started putting together the gift bags for my nephews!
While I haven't got my tree up, I have put multicoloured fairy lights on the tree in the front garden.
I'm holding out until the 1st December, not least because the cats are monsters and I can't face 2 months of shoo ing them away from the baubles. But am starting to feel a bit Christmassy!

If having the tree up now, makes you happy, then go for it. It's your house and no one else's business. There are some miserable buggers on this thread.
Mine will go up on the 1st and come down on the 2nd January - that's when Christmas ends for me.

Hibernatalie · 05/11/2023 18:26

Yay!! I'm doing mine in 3 weeks - love this time of year

Openmouthinsertfood · 05/11/2023 18:31

Had mine up for about a week or so. Even got wrapped pressies under it! 🎄Enjoy OP, and all the others with decs up.

This.

I have fairy lights permanently in my living room and kitchen. TBF, the kitchen ones aren’t on a lot in the summer though.

OldTinHat · 05/11/2023 18:45

Good grief!!!

Missingmyusername · 05/11/2023 18:46

Enjoy it! Last weekend of November here!

Rainbow1901 · 05/11/2023 18:47

No tree up yet!
But I have been picking up bits for Xmas pressies and DH will be going up in the loft to bring down all the Christmas stuff in the next day or so. Been collecting prizes and goodies for works' Winter Fair and have a load of decorations that someone else might appreciate so doing a bit of de-cluttering too.
My back bedroom is full of all sorts at the moment so it will good to make some room soon when everything is shifted out!! 🌲Not allowed to put up our tree until eldest GD is able to do it. She has done it virtually every year since she was little - she's 19 now!! and some of the younger GDs help her now!!

Timeforchangeithink · 05/11/2023 18:49

Wayyyy to early for me but your house, your roolz:) 🎄
