Does anybody have any tips on the cheapest way to buy, or where to look out for offers on books for a 3yr old... I'm thinking classics like..

Gruffalo, Room on Broom, Stick Man, Tiger who came to tea, etc....

They're all about £4 on Amazon but not sure if there's a deal to be had if I'm buying quite a few

Thank you to anyone who answers x 🎅

Definitely try books2door. They have lots of sets of books way cheaper than Amazon. I've ordered before no problems.

Any suggestions for nice whisky miniatures? My DH loves a tipple and has tried all of the "normal" ones (Glenfiddich, etc ) I'd like to get some miniatures for him of more fancy ones which he could try without forking out for the big bottles to find out he hates it! He really doesn't like peaty, smokey whiskey, prefers Scottish, rum, cherry casks.

Any pointers would be great (and bargains obviously 😄)

Thanks 🙏

I got my DH a subscription from The Dram Team. He really liked it and would recommend it https://www.thedramteam.co.uk/collections/our-gifts

@GettingOldWithoutStyle Same taste as my dp. Single malts only or bourbons too? I don't bother with the miniatures (although did get single malt chocolate today from ds) though as I've become accustomed to his preferences! A few years ago aldi had some amazing aged ones ta bargain prices - he's actually saved the 30 year one for when ds turns 18 haha - but they've slipped up in price recently.

Has he had Dalwhinnie winters gold? Dp rates that extremely highly for a non aged single malt, and it's always on offer.

Not sure if this has been mentioned before - Sylvanian Store keepers are giving a free sylvanians family with orders over £45

I’ve looked on the site and can’t see this mentioned? Is it just automatic do you know or is there a code?

Inastatus · 28/10/2023 20:37

@Puravida23 - thank you, that looks great.

GettingOldWithoutStyle · 28/10/2023 20:37

Thanks for the suggestions!

Bourbons and single malts @Blessedbethefruitz thank you, I will look at those you have suggested.

Blessedbethefruitz · 28/10/2023 20:41

Bourbons - I've gone for knob creek small batch 9 years this year (Christmas and birthday within the same week) on prime day which he loved a few years ago. There's a special makers mark he also rates highly. He's not a JD fan, says it's too sweet. A special wild turkey is a good shout too :)

Apologies didn’t realise was fake…

Slater22 · 28/10/2023 20:55

Sorry that’s the Temu bum bum cream…

Thank you for setting up the new thread and apologies for it absence (and thank you for the tags). I’ve been working since first thing and just didn’t have a minute to check in

Martinisarebetterdirty · 28/10/2023 21:07

@GettingOldWithoutStyle you could also look at the sample guys, they do lovely sealed samples themselves from larger bottles (so ones you wouldn’t ordinarily get miniatures of), nicely packaged and good service.

Long shot, but does anyone know if fortnum & Mason ever do discounts for black Friday? I'd like to gift someone a hamper but they are so beyond expensive 😫 a nice discount (preferably 99% 😏 ) would be grand.

Sorry if this has been mentioned already, I haven't had time to catch up with the thread yet today.

Just got a bargain on the boots website. Lancôme hypnose mascaras are £10 off. If you buy 2 you get a free gift set. You can also then buy the beauty kit worth over £300 for £85. I then used the code NEWAPP 10 and got a further discount. Also went through vouchercloud so should get a £5 voucher and extra boots points! Feeling very chuffed with myself

Not in my experience, I’ve never seen any!

Was this to be delivered?

Yes and it was delivered earlier this evening, the only minor hiccup was the large Turkey crown I ordered was substituted with a smaller medium crown so I will have to get some legs or something to go with it to ensure we have enough, but thats OK I saved £14 so can afford it 😂😂😂

Fueledwithfairydustandgin · 28/10/2023 21:43

I’m looking for some of the bargain thread Christmas magic. DS has a red combine harvester top of his list this year. The playmobil one looks absolutely perfect because it actually produces bales but it’s the old model. I’ve tried multiple times to buy from the playmobil reduced section but it won’t allow me to check out. I’ve found a seller on eBay but they aren’t boxed and I’m nervous they will be missing parts. Had no luck on marketplace. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks I’m advance

MarshmallowsOnToast · 28/10/2023 21:51

@Jedstre that sounds exactly what I need thank you. Not fussed about new books, my 3yo will just get them sticky anyway 😂

I can’t recall any, sorry.

ChristmasJumperz · 28/10/2023 22:04

Simggle had a good section today of things that were 5 for £5. Facemasks, those pens with 8 or so different colours, notebooks, pencils, rulers. Might be worth popping in if you're passing and in need of stocking fillers or a small gift combined as it looks more than £5. They had other offers too but this was the real bargain stuff.
