Starting this in Reastie’s absence. Hope that’s ok.

@Blessedbethefruitz if you think he would like an enderdragon soft toy let me know - in 2021 it was what my son had asked santa for and I had a complete nightmare trying to get it with cancelled orders and allsorts of nonsense! A lovely mumsnetter on this thread saved me by sending one they had which thank goodness arrived in the nick of time on Christmas eve 😅 Mid January one of the missing parcel ones arrived and has been hiding at the back of my wardrobe ever since! It is still his favourite soft toy and lives on his bed and comes on holiday with us! 🥰 I would love to pay that kindness forward to another child who would appreciate a snuggly enderdragon!

Can anyone remember the charity site last year where you could get handmade decks/ fabric wraps etc? Beginning with J I think......

KittenBiscuit · 01/11/2023 22:29

@Starlin I saw this jigsaw of plants of the world in John Lewis and was going to get it for my mum, but it was cheaper to order on Amazon with free Prime delivery.

For all you crimpet lovers out there: Are the wraps easy to use? It seems as if you have to microwave then oven or airfry them - seems a bit complicated!

Re: Square crimpets- do you have to use the thins? Are there any suitable alternative bread products?

I am thinking my Ds x2 would like them.

Thanks

For the square ones you can only really use thins, or cut bread down to similar size.

I was interested in the wrap one but having looked at the video on their website it looks like you still have to cook them separately, as you mentioned. So the wrap one really just seals it prior to cooking

Annoyingly I want 1 of each crimpit rather than 2 of the same! 😫

Snap! I'm dithering about whether to buy or not...

dizzygirl1 · 01/11/2023 22:43

@Restlessinthenorth I was about to buy the wrap one but a PP says you need to microwave or air fry before crimping? I don't have either of those so it looks like a no! 😭

Ahh my little one would love a cuddly enderdragon. I've not seen them before. Could you let me know where you got it please 🙂

Awww, that was me! (Regular name changer)

That’s so sweet that it’s his favourite soft toy. You made me cry (in the nicest way) 😊

Blessedbethefruitz · 01/11/2023 22:51

@Notlongnow1 That's really kind of you thank you, but it would go unappreciated I think right now! I fear it would also spook him at night time, we're still very much into penguins and yoshi 😅 Pay it forward to someone who would appreciate it fully :) Like @Rainbow1612 perhaps!

I ordered from the Turtle Doves EBay store on Monday. I ordered two pairs of non-cashmere wool fingerless gloves in grey. £7.19 each when you order two pairs, with free delivery. They've arrived today and I've got two pairs of cashmere ones. Absolute bargain!!

Hurray! But, how do you know they are cashmere? The (cashmere) ones I’ve bought in the past haven’t had a contents label.

The cashmere turtledoves are available now here, but they are more expensive.

Notlongnow1 · 01/11/2023 22:58

@fishfingersandchipsagain aaaw that explains why I couldn't message at the time to see if you wanted the newly arrived one! He is definitely very well loved here!
Happy to send to @Rainbow1612 🎅

Dee1224 · 01/11/2023 23:02

Thanks @Thelifeofawife I think I will give the crimpets a miss - the small square ones seem like the most useful, but having to buy thins is too restrictive 🙃

Ladybaga · 01/11/2023 23:03

Thanks @WhereTheresAHill I had a balance bike on my list, so this is ideal!

Smileatthesmallthings · 01/11/2023 23:03

We have the wrap crimpit (and the square one!) It was definitely a well used novelty at first. We use it to seal wraps that we eat uncooked (like a sandwich) and we have a panini press (flat toastie machine basically) that we put them in too. No microwave/air fryer/oven here. Takes some adjusting to figure out what pressure to use to seal the edges but not cut through them.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a brand new minecraft fan aged almost 5? He's just started the switch game on easy mode (apparently he 'isn't into mario anymore'). Not super into lego. Looking for small things. His grandma has ordered a book he was desperate for in a shop already...

Lots of Minecraft bits usually in Asda, maybe just stocking fillers like pj's, socks but worth a look.

Do a search on the Asda site and it will all come up.

hotchocdrinker · 01/11/2023 23:43

@Yalz the EBay listing says that as they gloves aren't their usual cashmere there will be a pen mark through the label. No pen mark and these are the labels. Very pleased obviously!

PurpleSkittle · 02/11/2023 00:22

Crimpits - you can use the square ones on thin-cut white sliced bread but, because the crimpit is smaller than most loaves, you end up cutting off the bread around the edge which is a bit wasteful.

PurpleSkittle · 02/11/2023 00:28

@Blessedbethefruitz I think the minecraft lamps which you can rearrange the blocks on are really fun.

This type of thing...

Yalz · 02/11/2023 01:15

@hotchocdrinker , excellent! What a bargain!

I’ve checked again, and there are no “cashmere” labels on the eBay cashmere turtledoves seconds I’ve bought previously.

The current non-cashmere listings don’t say that they are seconds - perhaps they are not? Maybe they are only being sold on eBay because they are not necessarily 100% cashmere. Bargains!

@Fueledwithfairydustandgin SO Bruder are my (robust & farming weekly reading) boys’ brand of choice for farm toys & industrial vehicles…..
Massey Ferguson are the red farm vehicles.Apparently they stoped making combine harvesters in 1991, hence harder to find toy versions.

This is not a combine harvester, but a potato harvester. V cool though…Potato Harvester

They also have a matchin farm set with tractor and animals which would be awesome together.

Older ones are available but pricey, bc more of a collectors item, if you google “massey ferguson combine harvester toy”

This one is a Britains model. It’s cheaper but we had an old one of these and plastic was not so robust.

Hope that helps a wee bit :-)

Grimme Potato Harvester

Shop online now for this Bruder Toy Grimme SE 75-30 Potato Harvester 02130. Great quality and well detailed. Fast shipping from the UK and great prices.

@Notlongnow1 I have to admit, a cuddly enderdragon sounds like the stuff of dreams… If it’s still available I’d love to give that to my wee boy. Can you let me know how much etc please? X
