Hi,

Not sure what's going on this year, but I got into the festive spirit super early!

And... thinking about what I want for Christmas this year, thought I'd ask you too! What do you hope you'll get?

I'm hoping for:
A polene bag
A gold pendant
Some oils for my neom diffuser
A gold pendant for my necklace
Anddddd of course... chocolate!

This year it's books, rose bushes, and computer games, maybe some DND bits and bobs too. Oh and the new Discworld Stamps that are out.

PinkTonic · 14/10/2023 20:49

I want my daughter’s IVF to work. And a pair of Birkenstock slippers.

PomRuns · 14/10/2023 21:45

Books
chocolate
cashmere poncho

HappyCamperTent · 14/10/2023 21:47

Perfume… any perfume. Just a nice expensive fancy one!

828Pax · 14/10/2023 22:36

Oh I love this thread!! I'd love -

A pair of warm Slippers
A new hairdryer
Bath bombs from lush
Ferrero Rocher

and I'd also really love a memory box,
so I have somewhere to put all my special memories and 'things' such as my kids hospital bracelets, their first baby gro, special drawings they have done for me etc

dudsville · 15/10/2023 08:52

I usually have a book list for the year, but it's been a terrible year for reading so I have lots left, which means I have to have a think. I hate surprises, no one knows me well enough and perhaps I'm just impossibleto buy for. But I also hate waste and so off-list busy goes straight to charity. Another complication is I do have a favourite clothes shop, but it's expensive and they have good sales so it feels very wasteful to ask for stuff from them. So I'm looking for inspiration! The only thing in my list so far is that l'occitane almond shower oil. I'll look up other luxury toiletries but will be following for ideas!

dudsville · 15/10/2023 08:54

Oh, and op, i also got excited about Christmas this week. I've bought and washed new Christmas bedding, fairy lights for the bedroom, organised my gift shopping list and started on it! I'm away for a lot of November, and our festive hosting starts the first weekend of December.

What I really want is not to have to spend all my money on shite. I would like to actually ignore this prolonged greed fest made up by marketing managers but I end up getting sucked in like every other fool.

lifeofsty · 15/10/2023 09:16

Absolutely nothing. We almost lost our baby over the summer and she is not out of the woods yet so Christmas this year is going to be completely focused on the kids and making some lovely memories for the older ones, who have been through a terrible time.

whatausername · 15/10/2023 12:01

I'd like the frivolous and enjoyable. Stuff that I'd happily use but couldn't/wouldn't spend the money.

Dior lip oil in Raspberry or Cherry
Dior or Chanel nail polish (I know Chanel lasts well but haven't tried Dior, however they've a colour I like)
Replacement summer hat (mine mysteriously vanished from my accommodation)
Sol de Janeiro sprays (fits the frivolous and enjoyable brief perfectly)
Faux fur throw (very 00s but I fancy one)

happytobemrsg · 15/10/2023 13:55

@readingismycardio I love my velvetiser! I use it all autumn/winter & buy the mint & Black Forest sachets from Hotel Chocolate.

This year I’ve asked for/am getting

New eyeshadow palettes
Nail varnish
New Trinny book
necklace
fluffy socks

Same! I have an Amazon wish list (as just a quick, central way to share my demands wishes) of all the things I want but can't justify buying myself.
Dior lip oil is on there, along with a bunch of Charlotte tillbury stuff because lord if her magic cream isn't actually magic!

Zippedydoodahday · 15/10/2023 19:40

@Sleeplessinseattle234 Can you access BorrowBox via your local library? I've saved a fortune on Audible since discovering I can download free audio books that way.

Zippedydoodahday · 15/10/2023 19:44

@Cuwins I've just switched to a smart watch from a Fitbit Charge 4. I was going to give it away on Olio, but I'd happily post it to you if you'd like. The strap is knackered but they're cheap and easy to change yourself.

Tisfortired · 15/10/2023 19:46

Clinique black honey almost lipstick
Nars dragon girl lipstick
A nice casserole dish (Le Creuset if money were no object but it is unfortunately)
Neom candle
The simple non patent non platform Doc Marten Chelsea boots
Lots of chocolate
Books

Ohh thanks that would be amazing. I need to work out how to PM you as I'm on the app.

Love the Christmas spirit just displayed!

whiteroseredrose · 15/10/2023 20:11

I'd really like a new set of pans, stainless steel without non stick lining.

There are lots in John Lewis from £120 for a set of own brand to £150+ each for Le Creuset ones.

I'd also like teapot and a new cafetière.

Obviously I'd like a new sofa as ours is sagging but I doubt Father Christmas could afford it.

Jemimapuddleduk · 15/10/2023 20:15

Some proper cowboy boots from USA, maltesers, mint chocolate orange, a candle and some bathbombs.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 15/10/2023 20:37

I’d like some new bedding
We don’t really do big presents, it’s been a very expensive year!

WontLetThoseRobotsDefeatMe · 15/10/2023 20:49

I love this thread every year! I get so many ideas for myself, for others, and to suggest to people.

So far I'd love...

  • thick long socks I can wear under work boots
  • 70s silver chunky earrings (I've got some great half hoops from ebay which I love)

Waiting for more inspiration!
