What do you put in 1st December boxes vs Christmas Eve boxes??

The OP's question is "What do you put in your December 1st vs Xmas Eve boxes" so I take that as a question to see what people consider these "boxes" to be.
This thread seems to be a mix of "I just get the box with the Christmas bits out" vs "what dreadful consumerism blah blah". I don't think people are talking about "presents" - unless you class a new paperback book that's Christmas themed as one of the Christmas presents. I wouldn't. It's just a new (or secondhand) book.

OP, we don't have a box as such but weekend closest to 1st Dec tends to be when we get the Xmas Pjs out, the blankets, hot chocolate mugs etc and have a Christmas themed movie night after decorating our tree with new kids crafted baubles. I also swap the books in the living room for Christmas themed stories and each evening we light the christmas candles.

So I suppose if it was a box as such, PJs, Hot Chocolate stuff, something to make a new bauble and a new book?

@MrsDanversChickenSandwich I've bought my daughter some Halloween themed bracelet making kits and a couple of other crafty bits (she likes doing crafts). I have put them in a box so they are easy to store. It's just a regular plain plastic storage box - so not a "boo box". But would it matter if the box had some pumpkins printed on it?

Xmas eve box at a stretch I suppose (Xmas jammies, book and hot chocolate/mug).

The big event is Xmas day.

@SunflowersAndSmellyTrainers isn't Christmas Eve a bit late to be getting the Christmasy stuff out. Most Christmas stuff (Nativity plays, carol concerts, craft fairs, trips to visit Santa, Christmas markets etc) take place during December.
And what's this thing about only drinking hot chocolate on Christmas Eve?
I drink hot chocolate all the time.

Some people are putting more in these boxes than my kids get on actual Christmas Day (one main present excepted).

Last year there was a thread on December 1st breakfast, I think the OP was crying because she forgot to get stuff in.

I love Christmas but mainly anticipation of the main event, not endless days of extra gifts.

they get an chocolate advent calendar. christmas eve they get christmas pyjamas and hot chocolate. christmas is 1 day not 25 days

(actually I have never heard of anything called a "boo box" - I have seen storage boxes with pumpkins etc on but never actually called a boo box).
@EarthlyNightshade I haven't seen anyone say they are giving actual gifts. I mean the mention of pyjamas etc aren't classed as gifts in my mind. You'd buy new jammies if your kids need them even if Christmas didn't exist.

I love a theme so provided the DC with a Halloween bedspread, spooky teddy, pjs, Halloween socks and jumper plus some eyeball bath bombs on the 1st October. I did not provide a box for it to go in though!

I do the same on 1st December, Christmas bedspread, pjs, socks, mug or cup,cuddly toy, any other random bits I pick up, plus advent calendar. Most of the items aren't new, they just come out for December.

Christmas Eve is usually a hot chocolate bomb, bath bomb and their Christmas sack to put out before bed.

1st December - basically things they can use through all of December. Christmas pyjamas, christmas party dress, bedding, advent calendar, christmas books and decorations etc (same ones every year) the elf comes out with a letter basically saying welcome to the christmas fun
Christmas eve - all things to use/keep them entertained on christmas eve. christmas plate/cup for leaving out treats for santa, stockings to hang up, reindeer food. A recipe and ingredients for christmas baking/fun hot chocolate. A game, night before christmas book. A letter from the elf saying he'll be going home with santa tonight so they must go to bed early etc

it's not about the name it's about it becoming yet another thing. A Halloween box. Just encouraging people to buy more plastic tat.

What's wrong with their Christmas eve books from the previous year? Or using their PJ's from the year before?

I put the Christmas Eve box inside the December 1st box. Then on Christmas Eve we open the box and inside that is the Easter box. And inside that is the Halloween box. And inside that is the December 1st box. And so on.

It isn't called Christmas month, it's called Christmas 'day' ...

I think that’s what lots of people do @Mademetoxic do you want respondents to specify exactly what’s new and what’s reused? You can still pack a box of things you’re reusing if your kids enjoy opening it.

No, it’s twelve days, starting on the 25th December.

This is all sounding a bit sneery! I'm not wed to the idea of the boxes, but I do tend to put one out at the start of December, which has all our Xmas books that we've read each year for years. I might add a new age appropriate one if I fancy. Maybe a craft or something depending on age of the kids at the time. And DM supplies advent calendars which go in. It doesn't all have to be about consuming.

No Christmas boxes here but Christmas starts on 1 December and finishes on 26 December - then back to work and ready for NY celebrations.

Never knew such boxes existed. Something new to learn every day.
