Crochet for Christmas

Does anyone want to join me in a thread for Christmas crochet chat/ideas?
I realise it's a bit niche but Crochet and Christmas are my two favourite things!
I'm fairly new to Crochet but planning on making Christmas pudding tree decorations for everyone, stockings for the DC as well as toys to go in the stockings. My DC love to watch me crochet so I think they'll like them!
So, would anyone care to join me?

And this was my attempt at a pig in a blanket, ds requested a proper one like you eat. I of course obliged. Dh came home from work and fell about laughing, wanting to know why a turd in a scarf was on the tree. I think I will try the choc orange version next time 🤣🤣🤣

This made me laugh a lot!!! Absolutely love it

They're beautiful. Thank you.

I taught myself to crochet with Bella Coco on YouTube. British lady so no faffing about with US terminology

3dogsnorth · 02/08/2023 20:10

I made this a while ago. Looks complicated but actually really easy and I'm a novice

This reminds me of the baby Jesus I made that looks like a toe wrapped in a blanket. Grin

I’m new to crochet and thought I’d start off with a fun project . They are a bit wonky but I like them !

These are lovely!
Is it a kit or pattern?
I would like to start but maybe just a kit, rather than buying tons of different things 🤔

Purpletoes · 16/08/2023 07:39

I am currently on holiday and have started my Xmas blanket. I am doing the same one as @littleblackcat27. Almost finished all the big squares. I also have Marion's new pattern for the Christmas Bauble blanket but not sure if I will have time to complete it as well.

Love all the little decorations I must try and do some but I so far I have only crochet blankets shawls and bags. Only started last year but I love it.

ScottishBeth · 16/08/2023 07:58

@Purpletoes the little decorations and things can be fiddly but you'll be fine doing them! Saying that the first dinosaur I did was pretty uneven (legs different lengths) but it sounds like you're more experienced than I was.

I have nearly finished the reindeer chocolate orange cover - just need to do the antlers. I'm a bit worried it's too small, but I will test it! I've started a Robin now. I'm thinking of making loads for lots of my friends. Will see how I get on.

StubbleTurnips · 16/08/2023 08:01

OP - have a link to Ferrero Roche covers too. I love knitting them - could you be adapted for crochet!

Tiqtaq · 16/08/2023 08:20

I'd like to make some mittens on a string for myself, looking for a good video tutorial!

Snowflake760 · 18/08/2023 07:53

@Lalanbaba sorry only just revisited this .. Here’s the pattern for the elves. They are actually quite simple … apart from the wretched magic circle and very forgiving (I think I added one stitch per round on the hat so its longer and twistier than it should be) . I think the tree is the next one for me. There are load on etsy if you just search ‘christmas crochet pattern’ or Christmas crochet pattern santa’

I am about halfway I think through my winter seasons blanket I will then look at some smaller projects.

It was my 7th wedding anniversary last week and my DH bought me 2 balls of King cole glitz Xmas wool. 😆

So glad I've found this thread. You've inspired me to have a look at some Christmas blanket patterns and get on it so I can have something done in time.

Has anyone got any recommendations for brands of nice soft yarn for blankets. I've used marriner from a local shop which is ok but would prefer something softer. I also use wool Warehouse but find it a bit overwhelming sometimes!

Don't know if you've purchased yet but stylecraft special is a winner with me

Thanks that looks great. I've gone with women's institute which is ok but will look at stlyecraft for my next project.

I've gone with this mosaic pattern which I'm really enjoying but doing it in navy and burnt orange to match my living room.
